All the people talking about profit here. They gotta be Ford fans, I’ve never heard anyone talk about the profit of a Lincoln Navigator with a V6 engine.
As an Escalade owner, I agree with the sentiment of wanting the performance, and also the nice seats. This is the suv all of us Escalade owners want. Also being 6'7" is a deciding factor lmao.
Broo being tall is expensive! Im 6’6 and it’s impossible to squeeze into anything smaller than a truck or full size SUV. And of fucking course those are the pricey vehicles
My son just turned 13 last month, and he is already 6’4”. I cannot (I don’t want) to imagine when he reaches full height, and what we will have to go through.
I really like how GM is trying to improve Cadillac’s image. Maybe Ford should try to sell high-performance / sportier Lincolns but really Lincoln is primarily focused on fancy. The Lincoln LS is pretty “close” to a sports sedan however. BTW great review Doug!!
I mean if you look into it a bit the new Lincoln’s aren’t sport focused but they also aren’t slow vehicles. Actually before the Escalade-V the regular Navigator was a bit faster than the Escalade.
Lincoln already threw the Raptor engine in the Navigator and the next generation will probably be electric so throwing the Vodoo engine from the GT500 and Raptor R just wouldn’t unfortunately make since given their imagine but it would make sense in the Expedition
I wish they would but Lincoln is purposely staying out of the performance brand. Not only with not having a dedicated performance line, but in general not building to that niche. So many luxury makers are all fighting over the sporty segment. Lincoln's brand pillar is "Quiet Flight". They aren't in this market and don't want to be.

Cadillac had considered making this over 15 years ago according to GM interviews with Car & Driver. I suppose GM wanted to squeeze as much profit out of their ICE vehicles as possible before the inevitable EV takeover within the next 5 years. I’m glad that this exists even if I would never own it.
@@mybro727 The Cadillac Escalade is already a very profitable vehicle for GM. It’s basically a fluffed up Chevrolet Tahoe or Suburban which sells for 50% more. What more needs to be said?

The Escalade can be its own brand and probably succeed. The escalade nameplate is so strong it may even be more recognized than the Cadillac brand itself.
Hey Doug. I saw you yesterday afternoon walking your dog with your partner by the beach. I didn't want to approach to say hi and ruin a chill stroll by the beach on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Anyways, love your content and I almost yelled "quirks and features" when I saw you.
Apart from the engine, and the better layout, and the brilliant idea of a button up front to drop the 3rd row (which I continually moan about in my 2019 XL Denali), I can't really see/justify the price tag. a Cadillac badge isn't enough. I'd be quite happy sticking with my Denali, which has been fantastic.
If a car has a soft limiter for reving while in park just put it in neutral then rev it. It will turn off the limiter and then you can rev it to your hearts content!
I agree with the quality issues but it’s pretty a-typical for GM we all know that even if they charge 150k for a car, but something I wanted to mention is that something I would have liked to see at the price point was ventilated seats in the second row as well as a center console with controls maybe even message I’m thinking 150k here, and maybe even heated seats in the third row now that would be something
I was thinking exactly the same thing as you, the X7 has 5 climate zones, heated third row. Meanwhile the Escalade V just has three climate zones and heated back seats. In terms of equipment, it feels like a nicer Suburban, until you press the accelerator hahahaha.
Quite honestly, that's a very impressive vehicle. Nearly perfectly designed for it's market/buyers. And if I could afford a 150k vehicle, I could afford the gas for it. I wish that nightvision feature had been adopted by more vehicles/brands by now. I'd love that for all of the rural driving I do where deer everywhere.
Although a cool variant, it seems to be yet another missed opportunity by GM after the comeback of the Blazer nameplate before the Bronco’s return (*really* looking forward to your Bronco Raptor review). Hopefully GM will fix this “mistake” by placing that power plant in the Silverado to compete with the TRX and Raptor R. - Great review as always! 🔥
I’m a Ford guy for life but in my opinion GM doesn’t deserve hate. Yes I’d rather drive a Mustang GT over a Camaro SS or a Shelby GT500 over a ZL1 but tbh I really really really love the C8 corvette. Hands down without anything ever even close, even buying more expensive brand new flagship model stuff from other manufacturers. The customer service was so good I still feel guilty buying another brand of vehicle. We sold the Escalade the first time fuel prices went insanely high 10 yrs ago. I don't know if it was the dealer we went through or if Cadillac just does more, but they made everything so easy with warranty and any sort of service. They brought a car to our house and picked up the Escalade (via flatbed tow truck) for warranty work (vehicle rear axle somehow broke) when my wife was pregnant and I was out of state. I have never been treated so ... perfectly ... with anything else.
I put two 7 ft tall apple trees in my Suburban yesterday. This can do that and go 0-60 in 4 seconds, which is why it’s more than the Tesla. Doug, tip on that button to fold the 2nd row seats, push it a second time, after the seat is folded and they will flip up on their own. My kids showed me this.
Ahhhh so THAT'S how you open the tailgate. My boss got an Escalade and I've been opening the trunk via the key every time. Really good to know! Edit: Worth noting also the Escalade has soft close doors which are cool to use.
I'd port the blower and keep it lowered and put 26 x 10" wheels with summer tires on it. Keep the factory wheels for the winter and put snow tires on it. Everything else is a homerun.
Bout time for sure! You can tell Doug is really into smoothies right now to suggest plugging in a blender for the back seat. Probably recently discovered the big bag of frozen fruit at Costco. This rig could use some front fender side vents for the engine bay.

Lincoln is focused on geriatrics. Ford has the SVT trim for many of their models. Don’t need a separate brand
GM as a whole will most likely not succeed their plan being the largest seller of EVs if not the largest in the US.

I'd be quite happy sticking with my Denali, which has been fantastic.
If a car has a soft limiter for reving while in park just put it in neutral then rev it. It will turn off the limiter and then you can rev it to your hearts content!
Not always. Some prevent you from doing that in neutral too. Take the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT for example.

Really wish Doug would go back to the full Dougscore read out. I really liked hearing the little summary and score of each area of a car.
They might do it & not give you credit for it 🤔
I was thinking exactly the same thing as you, the X7 has 5 climate zones, heated third row.
The customer service was so good I still feel guilty buying another brand of vehicle. We sold the Escalade the first time fuel prices went insanely high 10 yrs ago. I don't know if it was the dealer we went through or if Cadillac just does more, but they made everything so easy with warranty and any sort of service.
