I really appreciate these videos, Gary. Thank you for posting them! This is a really great one, on the use of the black lacquer and the metallic paints.
Hi Gary lovely vase do you put sanding sealer on before you spray the Ebonising Lacquer on it? I like the Ebonising Lacquer by itself i think it looked nice but that is the first time i have seen it used i have just subscribed to your channel. I might try some of the painting myself i think i could get to like it. Thanks for sharing. Pete
Hi Pete, thanks for the comments and subscribing, much appreciated. Yes I gave it a light coat of sanding sealer before I applied the Ebonising lacquer. Hope this helps, and have fun colouring.
Hi Gary Just found your video great job. At the end you said you sealed and varnished the following day, what did you seal it with?? I also subscribed looking forward to more videos.
Hi Robert, many thanks for the compliment, as they are acrylic based paints I use an acrylic spray sanding sealer then acrylic lacquer or even melamine lacquer. Hope this helps. Rgds Gary
Hi Gary, another great video. I'm starting to think about using colour in my projects. I was wondering if there's anywhere you could advise for me to buy blanks as I'm 16 so don't really know yet? Thanks.
Hi Callum, it all depends on where you live as there are many places about. Where do you live? sorry if I have asked you before??? lol, bad memory and so many people ask questions
Hi Callum there is a very good supplier of both wood and tools in Ayr itself. Just Wood, 12 Limekiln Road, KA8 8DG run by a guy called Charlie, a great guy tell him I sent you along.
I liked the coloring effect which is why I watched. Did not need to see all the hollowing that led up the coloring. Don't like to gripe long videos cost more to watch.

A happy piece.
Nice work. What can I use instead of ebonizing lacquer?
Also, before you spray on the final clear coat, is it alright to gently sand the paint for a smoother surface?
Hi Robert, thanks for your comment. You can use any black acrylic aerosol / auto paint as a base
