I'm not a beginner when it comes to turntables (I listen to vinyl records since 1986🤗) and the only thing I would have problems with is the rubber belt. They slightly stretch after a couple months or years (depending on the rubber quality). Because of that slight stretch, the pitch obviously changes (something that really disturbed me, especially while getting the accurate key involving a song). That is why I prefer the direct-drive ones (I have one Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB now).😊Anything beyond that, this turntable feels like a good option for beginners.😊
I love previous generation, and am upgrading to this generation. One tip is you can purchase a electrical outlet timer that you can plug those turntable into and set it to shut off power automatically which is a cheap solution to having your stylus damaged in case you fall asleep or whatever. Love your videos as always!
Great vid, Jarrett! To answer your question: My first turntable was (and still is) an Audio Technica LP2X which works really great. My dad on the other hand has a very high-end turntable that my grandfather bought back in the 70s. It's a Linn Sondek LP12 with a really good cartridge and tonearm. Coupled with a Amcron preamp, a Rotel amp and a pair Acoustic Research AR3a speakers that Miles Davis himself had in his home listening setup, you can imagine the quality of reproduction that you experience with that system. Hope that someday I can play a double vinyl copy of Time Station and a copy of Reset on it 😊 For now it's only CDs and cassettes 💿📼
That is a great starter record player. I started out with the LP120, & now have a Project Debut Carbon Evo with an upgraded acrylic platter & Ortofon 2M blue! Couldn’t be happier
Great video as always! Thank you for all the work you do to give honest reviews on audio equipment! I am always thinking about upgrading my turntable, I currently have a BSR record changer. That upgrade will have to wait though. Just bought the Klipsch R-610F speakers to replace my Fisher XP-57As and don't want to break the bank! 🤣 The only thing I will NEVER upgrade is my vintage Sony receiver that sounds AMAZING! Thanks again for the video!
JARETTTTTT PLEASEEEE ANSWERRRRR…….. I want to go travelling with my vinyl records, does the audio techinca sb727 a good portable turntable? If not is there any good portable turntable?
@@sm0th793 there are not really any good portable turntables, most have that terrible red needle that is way too heavy for vinyl and they generally just sound terrible, I don't think vinyl was rly made to be portable
You would need to buy an preamp (if you don’t buy the optional built in one), an amplifier, and speakers. But if you buy a pair of active speakers you don’t need to buy the amplifier and speakers separately
I have a basic Crosley with built-in Amp ... I've notice after 4 records the speed slow down during playing the record. There's no way to adjust externally. However, I was thinking after looking at reviews for the orbit to get that one instead and give my brother the Crosley... my question is about the "4 needed" which I tried several surgery ways with no success. Table to receiver. Table to preamp to receiver (home theatre surround).. where am I messing up? P.s. I listen thru the speakers the Crosley came with
@@chrisdumas7894 Crosley turntables aren’t the best and are cheaply made, it could just be an issue with the player itself. I’ve also heard that they can damage records in the long run so I do suggest you invest some good money into a quality turntable

Hi there. I'm relatively new in that. So I encountered something that puzzles me a bit. I bought a record on Discogs. The seller said that media is NM. It arrived today and the first thing I noticed was a smell of a cigarettes. And there was a lot of static cracking when I started the record. I cleaned it carefully and the cracking and also the smell is gone. I told the seller what I encountered. He told me, that the static can be due to longer shipping (by airplane, several day to weeks) - I bought records from all around the world and never had such a problem. Also he said he wouldn't smoke in his house... Well well well... 😐 I don't know about this static due to shipping. But I know cigarette smoke.
Hey Vinyl Eyezz, im just getting into vinyl and was gifted a used Yamaha YP-D6 from my uncle and was told it needs a new cartridge. I have a quality receiver and 2 Kenwood speakers. But my biggest question is are cartridges universal across the board. I bought a $50 cartridge off amazon that fits the YP-D6. But im wondering if I can purchase a more expensive cartridge down the line and what effect does it have in the sound quality? Thanks
Using an Angel's Horn (forgot the model #). Sorta like this but a bit more feature. Cost me a lot less than the $250 they are asking for it😂. To be fair I got a deal from a buddy❤ Thanks again Mr Eyes
I'm trying to get into vinyl, but my setup just isn't working, and I'm not sure what's wrong, I've ordered a new preamp, as that's what I've determined to be the issue, but if I get the new one and it still doesn't work what should I do?
Hi Jarret, I recently had a toy turntable and have now upgraded to an audio technica lp60x. one vinyl in particular skips on the first part of the first song although there is no visual scratches and I handle them with care. How do I fix this. Thx 🙂
Yeah, I have the 60X aswell and it's one of the top beginner's turntables. Give your record a good clean if you haven't already, as this is a good remedy for a skipping record. Upgrade it by replacing the conical stylus with an elliptical, and replace the felt mat with higher end material like acrylic. With these modifications, you have a tweaked and more advanced version of the 60X which will produce increased audible results and better stability like higher end turntables.
People, I appear to be having a problem. I bought my "first" turntable (AT60X) and since I wanted to sometimes listen to it with headphones (at night, for example), I bought a Fosi Audio Box X1 Phono Preamp with a headphone jack. Thing is, when I connect it to a speaker, it gives a lot of distortion (the speaker is active). I have to change it to Line on my turntable to be able to listen to it clearly, but I have to raise the volume a lot to hear it clearly. Is it ok using the Phono Preamp with the Line output signal? Or am I going to damage something?
I'm a beginner and looking for some passive speakers to go with my RT82 and Schiit Mani phono preamp. I'm looking at the Q Acoustics 3020i but don't know what amp to pair with those that doesn't cost as much as the speakers themselves. Anyone have suggestions?
I’d consider the insignia turntable or lp60x by audio technicia. And then, I’d buy some klipsh or presonus speakers. That is a bit more affordable, still not cheap, but affordable.
