I do not leave comments on UA-cam...so with that - I had to leave a comment about this video. If you buy or plan on buying a Gravity Series 800, this video saves time over following the pamphlet instructions provided with the grill/smoker. This video was one of the best and most prepared I have ever found to assemble anything. You guys did a GREAT job breaking down each step and with providing tips on making things easier. You should be proud of this instructional video. I truly thank you. It was very easy to pause this video at each step of the way. SIR, putting my Gravity 800 together using your video as opposed to the instructions, was one of the best decisions that I made this week. Just assembled a 900 which is a Costco variant with included pizza oven. The instructions are pretty clear, but this video really helped us in a few key places and made it much more pleasant. I had watched it prior to purchase, and then kept watching it during assembly.Thanks.

Thanks! This video saved me a whole lot of time putting my 800 together! Not having to read the manual is always a better way to do it. And your steps were flawless!
One tip… When screwing in the manifold from underneath, you need to loosen the 2 screws a little bit first before putting it in. The screws look deceiving, and look like they can be screwed in further, but they’re already screwed in to the manifold to the max. Back them out a little bit, and it should go in fine.

I want to thank you, cause today I got delivery of my MB 800. I referred to your video for step by step guidance and it really helped alot. Video for 95% of it, manual 5% for a diagram view of some things. I did this on my own with the exception of the wife helping me flip it over when needed, took just over 3 hrs.
I've been following you for a good couple years now, I wish you had some new videos on this grill as I've watched all the others and it's seemed you have moved on to newer things.

Got my 800 last week from Costco. Thank you so much for the video. For someone who is not very handy, the video was excellent! The instructions were just like Ikea's, often confusing. Without your video, assembly would have been a disaster. I did end up with extra screws and nuts, but the 800 is still standing, so I think I'm ok. Off to your next video about seasoning the smoker without blowing up the house...

The 800 is a sweet cooker! You’ll love it
I assembled my 800 today using only this video! It went well. It took me near 6 hours though 😮… then another hour getting the glue off the underside of the hood. It was stuck! Goo Gone, elbow grease, then Mean Green to get rid of the Goo residue. The bubble wrap was melted onto some of the griddle too, I’ll address that tomorrow when I’m doing the burn in.

Bought a Masterbuilt 800 yesterday and used the instructions in this video to assemble it... So much easier than reading the manual and the tips worked well. The only thing that didn't work out for me is tightening that manifold rack. Maybe the models have been adjusted but there are spacer screws placed that prevent the manifold from being tightened. I guess that's done so you can easily disassemble and clean that part. Very very helpful video, thanks for putting it up here.

Thank you for the video! I put this together last night and it was pretty much a breeze. My screws for the manifold inside don’t tighten they just free spin but other than that it was smooth sailing. Video was very helpful

Handle installation has been greatly improved over the 560. Pretty sure there’s still a screw rattling around in the lid. Looking forward to your 800 videos. I bought the 800 back in January, still in the box. This video came at the perfect time! Thanks!

I have picked your brains a couple times about these smokers and finally pulled the plug on the 800. Delivered Saturday and I used this video and had it done in about 3 hours by myself. @@AndersonsSmokeShow I smoked hot dogs today just to see if it did what I wanted. Amazing. Smoked at 200 for 30 minutes and went to 500 and finished. Amazing. I have a 15lb brisket here so that will happen Friday afternoon.

So this is a great video! Definitely has some improvements on the methodology of the manual -BUT be warned: there are a couple of omissions here that are only mentioned in the manual that might have you going back a couple of steps and doing some disassembly.
The biggest one for me is not mentioning how to align the hinged piece you "bend back" when installing the smoke box, fan, etc. That is where one of the slides goes , so you want to align it and slot it through the front heat guard when you are attaching that piece.
Awesome video. Just assembled mine tonight. Bought the LSD mods. Did the entire thing alone. I will install the mods tomorrow and preseason. You did a great video. Never opened the instructions. My only issue was i has a few of the screws, (A’s) that were stripped. I was also short one nut (B’s) and had to use one from my garage. I may have dropped a (B) nut. I bought the 800. I’ll need to read about the griddle. Thanks for the video!

Brief note based on what we stumbled across a little; all because the BBQ has some quirks...
As part of step 9, "attach bottom of hopper, ash-cleanout and fan segment":
You mention that a piece of metal needs to be bent back. This is the track for the lower flue / airflow covers (step 23). in step 16 we blocked that when we installed the heat shield 51 (front)and did not make sure it lined up with the cut-out in that heat shield.
Also, heat shield 46 has a threaded nut fitted for the "D" screws. This will only work if you really make sure that the heat shield is behind the hinges on the hopper side when you mount it. All heat shield D screws that are fitted to the leg holes only go one way, from outside, the shield side, to the leg because the leg side is the threaded side.
Anderson: When you started Step 17 I had to stop confused for a second. My bad but it looked like you had already somehow mounted the side table to the chassis when you started with the antenna. For those that stop here, don't, just follow on... 🙂

I just put mine together, burned out and seasoned yesterday. 😂 This feels like blasphemy after my 25 years running a stick burner I built years ago. But I’m trying to conserve space and I don’t cook for the public anymore.
Instead of those chunks? I grabbed a bag of those small split hickory sticks at Lowe’s. I put a little charcoal in the bottom. Then stood a stick up in there . I always season my smoke. So I dropped a big smashed onion and bell pepper in and then topped it off with more charcoal. Beautiful DELICIOUS smelling clean smoke.

Why anyone would try to assemble the Masterbuilt Gravity 800 trying to do using Instruction Manual is mind blowing. My Masterbuilt Gravity Series 800 was delivered on Monday, 22 May.
Had watched your 23.00 Video several time after ordering and awaiting delivery. Performed every step of you video. The only issue was inserting the Heat Intake Slide (Large). Unlike the Intake Slide (Small) the Large would not slide in completely. Perhaps 75% before getting stuck. Notified Masterbuilt on 22 May and have Case #: 527061. Awaiting their Resolution.

Bought a 900 (Costco) last July and couldn’t get motivated to put it together until this weekend. Started yesterday and had some delays. Finished today because I needed someone to help me flip it over. Anyway, great guide, really helped a lot! Only thing I found different (and maybe MB changed things between the time this video was done and last year) was the part of laying underneath to tighten the 2 screws on the manifold. On mine, they won’t tighten. They’re fully seated and have a collar. I tried to tighten the first one and actually broke it loose (probably essentially stripped the screw). I’m guessing MB made the change so the manifold could easily be removed for cleaning? Anyway that was my only real departure from the assy video. Had some leftover hardware…dunno if that’s normal or not.

Hi. Do you recall where the gasket is located in the box? I just unboxed mine, put all the parts on the side and can't find the gasket for Step 8 of the manual.

I've been enjoying the MB800 for over a year now and hands down, this is the best grill I've ever used. I use this 4 or 5 times a week and it gives so much capability, you can add a lot of variety to your menu. Great assembly vid, looking forward to the comparo.

This video is fantastic! I just finished assembling my Masterbuilt 800 and your video was a tremendous help. I highly recommend everyone trying to assemble the 800 watch this video first. All of the "little tricks" and just being able to see it going together saved me a lot of time!! Saved me a LOT of time and headaches! I don't know if things changed since I just bought mine a week ago, but the screws under the manifold cannot be tightened. They have a stop on the screw itself so it leaves about a ¼ inch. That's why the drip tray goes in before the manifold (at least on my 800).
The one thing I did miss in the instructions was the 2nd shield for the hopper. Wouldn't have missed it if I didn't use the manual and instead watched this video. Your video also clarified that there's 2 manifolds for grill and griddle - the instructions didn't make it so clear.

Thanks for the video, it helped a lot to put my Series 900 together ( it is actually the 800 with pizza oven). 2 observations with mine: 1 - I had difficult in mounting the back shield, it was not allowing enough space to hang the ashes basket lid in the below hooker. I had to use a hammer and a cardboard piece to adjust. 2 - The topper shelf is kind of scratching the inside of my lid not sure why - either the shelf is bigger, or it is not positioning well or door came bit misaligned - I think it is not a big issue but it is kind of a concern every time I have to open
Did your manifold screws tighten or were they free spinning?
@@jaysinghji1 in order to avoid it to free spin I had to loose the screws a little bit before placing the manifold support. Then, I could tighten them and it is not loose. If you just place the support with the screw holes like the manual says you cannot tight

I received my MB800 ONE DAY before the big Texas freeze and shutdown, and didn't take it out the box for while. A year later, when I finally decided to assemble this bad boy, my mom broke her leg. I just now assembled it so wish me luck. 😅

Great video, it helped a lot putting it together. Can you please do one on getting Masterbuilt to answer a phone call when they send defective parts. 4+ weeks until a replacement part for a brand new grill is ridiculous
great video it helped me a lot just one thing as an older person laying under the control box was not an option so i did it while upside down the wife held it in place while i connected the 4 screws and wires many thanks don.

This video was way better than the instructions could have been. Will do my burn on tomorrow. Problem with this one is step 29 where you tighten the two screws below the manifold - they just turn and turn and do not tighten. Would you suggest throwing two little nuts on the screws?

Took me 3hours. Started at 7pm ended at 10pm. Half in the dark. Just in time for Father’s Day.
Not an incredibly difficult assembly over all, but it’s still time consuming
Love my 800. Assembly was a pain. Half my parts were bent or dented. Masterbuilt was quick to send replacements.
Wow that thing must’ve taken a beating because mine was flawless.

Appreciate this video. It was a huge help when putting my grill together. The instructions MasterBuilt had were not the best by any means.
Damn good vid brother. I looked at one of these the other day and loved the size, my 980 eats up a lot of real estate. Can't wait for your comparison vis, I have seen some others but didn't really think twice until putting my hands on a MB800. Cheers
