You're right on point. The iron remover is great for particulates, but really doesn't make a dent in regular day to day "road grime." TBH, Meguiar's hot rims wheel and tire cleaner works pretty well for the day to day grime, for an off the shelf product.

Here's the deal, the Turtle wax is MEGA strong and does not need to go on full strength. Put it 3 oz in a IK Foam Pro 2 sprayer and it works just as well and lasts 10x longer!

From my limited experience I believe most tire cleaners work about the same, they all require scrubbing (which is fine to me) but I believe scrubbing does a lot of the cleaning itself. Limiting what a cleaner can do, and leaving the potential difference between two different cleaners very small.
I like to heavily clean my tires every 4-6 months (when I feel it needs it) mostly based on appearance, and maybe a light single pass scrub every 1-2 months just to help maintain a certain level of clean before I need to really scrub them down. I like to try new products, it's something to do, I always feel I can learn something new, but I've yet to find a product which worked noticeably better than any other I've used at any price.
Every now, and than I will detail a family members car when they ask, it's easy money, and in situations like that, regardless of what tire cleaner I'm using, be it a cheap degreaser, or $12 bottle it will take 2-3 deep scrubbing passes per tire to get them to a point where I feel is acceptable to me.
I don't much see the point in higher end tire cleaners, I don't believe they are a scam, or a waste of money I just don't believe I'm the target consumer for them. I don't believe most detailers are either, as maintaining a healthy profit margin is the point of the business (though it depends on what type of consumer you are after). You can easily spend a lot of money on products detailing a car, but you can also use cheap products and still get to that same level of clean in about the same time. These products to me seem to be targeted to consumers who don't know a ton about products and simply default to more expensive = better, which is fine, the products are not bad, I just can't personally justify them myself if I can do the same thing for 3-4 times less.

I just tried the Turtle Wax Wheel & Tire Prep for the 1st time today and it did a wonderful job. I did use a brush on the tire and two different brushes on the rims, but again they turned out amazing. I did all 4 tires and rims, Buick Encore, and only had to spray them 1x. I still have half the bottle left, so I should be able to get one more car done. Oh, I don't know why but I really liked the smell of the turtle wax wheel & tire prep. I still need to apply tire dressing, I usually use Hybrid Solutions Graphene Acrylic Tire Shine Spray Coating which leaves a really nice satin sheen that last about a month for me.

rotten eggs smell for turtle wax.. might be my tires were really dirty .. cleaning after 8 - 10 months ... fumes were coming out on a nice overcast day..i think its alkaline based.. not a big fan but gets the job done. I let it dwell wash it and it took me 2 tries to clean the wheels ... yes you're right .. i have barely any product left after cleaning all 4 tires..

Used the TW w&T prep and it still has a pungent smell...more so than the Meguires hot rim (pink bittle)....I never do touchless wheel cleaning...first, I use less product and second, I ensure more areas get touched w/cleaner (inner barrel).

If the wheels are really caked in then I’ll use the meguires first and rinse off then use the rapid decon and then contact wash the wheels and rinse off, otherwise if it is is medium contamination I will just use the rapid decon instead of the hybrid. Foaming is key for contact wash so will add some autoglym snow foam to the wheel as well. As for the tyres I will also use a specialist tyre cleaner because rubber is very porous and you need a good dedicated tyre cleaner like Geyon’s with a decent tyre brush at least 2 goes until it goes white. This then makes the final tyre shine really embed into the tyre and not only last longer but provides a really deep shine

Meguiars isn't too bad, but there isn't a wheel cleaner on the market which comes close to Bilt Hamber Auto Wheel.
Bilt Hamber is by FAR the most reactive iron remover, it goes dark red quicker than any other (and I have tried at least 20 others), and it also has great detergent cleaning ability too.
    It's also CHEAP !

Haven't tried the TW but the Meg's is my favorite iron remover for wheels but it doesn't do much on tires which I'm fine with as it's a wheel cleaner. I may try the TW tire cleaner but I've really been liking Shine Supply Wise Guy for tires but they don't use it on ceramic coated wheels. It pulls the browning out just like the TW does in your video. I wonder if the TW is ceramic coating safe?
