If anyone wants some non gacha mobile games, I recommend Battle For Polytopia, Through the Ages, The Quest HD, Baldurs Gate, Uniciv, or Pocket City. They are all pay one fee keep forever style models.

@@JordanHJ Truly. In a sad way, we did this to ourselves. Everyone wants a free/cheap deal, and many of us gamers downloaded cracked versions, forcing developers to come up with creative ways to extract payment. Steam and humble bundle (great callout Jordan!) were an honest way, but greedy, employee-abusing, game-cloners, saw it as an opportunity to make easy bucks, exploiting false advertising and shady game mechanics.

The two things I hate about raid is that it's so aggressive in its advertising and it claims to be revolutionary mobile game but it didnt create the game model its built on and it really didnt even improve it there were games before raid that did everything raid does plus a fully voiced story and hundreds of characters it's not new idc how many times it says it like the blonde aussie says it's going to change mobile games in her ad but it did doesnt and probably never will
It's nothing to do with being online as well you don't fight anyone online u might think but it's just the best characters someone has
That's almost the definition of vaporware. When you're spending SO much more money on singing the product's praises, rather than just making the damn thing good.

We need more reviews which describes these "Games" properly. It is totally OK to be F2P game but it is not cool if everything is all about money grabbing.
Raid is all about money grabbing lol. The rates and rng is so bad on this game, you need to spend money to get what you need. Buy more shards, you get more chances. F this game.

@@JordanHJ Hah, when you ask me this I would be tempted to ask you about my own game (MMA Rivals) but it is too niche to be interesting for broad audience and is far away from RAID :) - yet I took the opportunity to tell it about it (it does not hurt) - I'm quite proud with it so far and it is fully about the game (even too soft on asking money now).
But my impression is that many games on the market try to emulate the bad practices from these big games as RIDE and I would be glad to hear an hones review for any of them - even if it is just to make me avoid their mistakes in my own games.

this app barely even qualifies as a " game "
it's basically the same as playing the lottery or slot machines but with shards and upgrading weapons
honestly these days I only have the app running for 5 min on auto x2 to do all the daily tasks I can besides the arena part ( not a fan of that part )
it's boring and I don't even remember what the story was about ( anyone able to provide a refresher for me on it )

Most the things you're pointing out (low amount of shards, energy needs to refill, money spent to remove equipment, turn based RPG etc...), are caracteristics of the genre. All gacha game work this way. It's like saying Euro Truck simulator is boring cause you can't drive like in GTA... And even tho you don't like this kind of game, Summoners War who's the gacha king atm has about 400-500k daily players. So yeah, sounds like it's working.
What you SHOULD've pointed out are things you couldn't see at your level:
- RSL if very, VERY aggressive, tons of "packs" that are ridiculously expensive for what they give
- Championship to earn a top-tier champion if you're top 1, but only whales (people spending 1k+ a month) can reach the first place....
- Dungeons are extremely expensive in energy, you can do about 7 runs before being completely out of energy (refills cost 30 gems, which is pretty expensive if you're F2P)
- Events are giving crap for all the ressources it needs
- There's nothing to "farm" shards/gems/skillup etc (comapred to ToA/ToAH in SW for example)
So, most of the things are about Plariums being greedy as fuck on rewards. They really pushed the free rewards to the extrem minimum and are very punishing for F2P players that don't play every day for a long time.

I was mainly answering the adverts which describe the game as the best mobile RPG, not the best mobile gacha game. They can't make those claims if they can't back it up

I support the content creators I like taking the sponsorships from RAID. Secure the bag as they say but the amount of adverts I have seen for this game is nothing short of suffocating. To the point where I actually almost downloaded the game to play as an attacker in the raid against the spider dungeon.
Ooft strong points though having watched your video through! As an adult i forget there’s a vulnerable amount of children out there who trust and hang on every word their favourite UA-camrs say. I had no idea this game was as bad as this though! Great video my man.

Being sponsored is great, lying to your viewer claiming you enjoy this product and trap them into shady services is not and should get you terminated and demonetized instantly

I played this game at a time when this game adverts were nowhere to be seen.I liked the game for the first 3 or 4 days.Then the summon for champions came.You cant progress unless u have a decent character and proper gear.If u dont have any hood character well you are doomed.I didnt try raising any basic character to its best but still they weren't anywhere near as powerful as those 'legendaries' to progress.I am not new to 'gacha' games.Played a lot and still playing a few.There are games where u can raise a basic character as an f2p to challenge top tier characters.But I didnt find any such thing here.So dropped it.
Mine were BattleCamp and the penultimate bait-and-switch Hero Wars. BC had a decent community clan system and a singular, fun game mechanic. While HeroWars had a few mildly interesting minigames. But as with all these cashgrabs, it wears thin fast, and leaves you berating yourself for getting hooked, til you ragequit. The amount of time required if you truly try to play F2P it is part of the brainwashing - if you're spending that much time, even the most stubborn free player, is likely to cave at some point. And Herowars has an "impressively" complex system of currencies to keep trying to tease your wallet out. With all the money they must be making, they could afford to just make the games decent.
That's how you know where their priorities are

Hey man great review, and yea I've stayed far away from this game as possible, everything is locked behind a damn paywall i find it very deceptive almost criminal that these developers market there product as free to play then lure in someone who wants to progress further with no option but to spend money on it , its sad really and its a disgusting practice that preys on the weak because once your hooked you'll keep spending. I'd even go as far as calling it an addiction similar to gambling.

You can get final fantasy 7 or 9 sure you pay for the game but at least it’s not littered with endless in game currencies designed to make you spend money unless you spend months grinding

@@JordanHJ I would not mind so much if it felt like you were actually getting anything I have spent real world money on free to play games 3 times and every time I think why did I do that? Great I got 3/10s of a shard that you need to get a in game character it could still be months of waiting for the games RNG to give you the other 7/10s and even if you buy the pack another 3 times by which time you could have bought a game held in high esteem by the way there would still be no guarantee you get anything and if you do half the time you get a 2* or 3* version which is massively worse than a 5* version of the same character

I mean more than half the counter points exposed here are not a raid problems per se, its about a whole genre called gacha games which raid is just copying with some added fantasy medieval graphics. You got gacha games of all kinds and of all marks now, you got some for star wars, marvel, disney themed etc personally haven't played any that doesnt feel like a cash grab at some point. Even genshin impact starts feeling like that eventually.
Yeah that's true, I just picked on RAID because of their marketing really, at least most of those other ones don't force people to say it's 'the best mobile RPG'
Some of the things are in almost all Gotcha games I play them I know them , but raid is bad for the even the Gotcha Genre , because it is just basic with lots of grinding for the absolute simplest things , ever Gotcha have grind but it starts after you finish the campaign to become stronger.
also in Gotcha's you summon heroes aka loot boxes the problem with raid that the heroes are not desirable they don't look good they don't have animations they don't have personality or anything every melee hero attack the same as everyone else and every mage every ranger , and to top it all off most of them don't have names they are called Sniper ranger Shield guard or anything stupid as if it is a an RPG when it is not , like in other Gotcha's there is a reason they are mostly in 2D / 2.5D because they are animated they have character they have flashy staff to look for they have animations, they look good not some unity pixels and stolen backgrounds , they create art in the 2D / 2.5D .
This is also the reason why people went for Genshin animated characters are good they look good and it is in 3D which is mostly the dream but the monetization of raid shadow legends so people don't play it as much as the others.
Even the attacks in raid are boring to look at or even bother care about them to get this hero they are so low budget that I really didn't care about putting time into the game to get that hero or to try to grind for it it is worse than Warcraft 3 attacks they are like a go attack with an axe or sword or anything 1-3 times throw a blue ball or drop a blue ball , throw a green ball or drop a green ball , throw a red ball or drop a red ball , Fuck ball attacks that's all to it it is not like a big explosion or an area were you do some cool looking shit it is the same thing as the other games if you look about it but in the other games they want it to look cool so you go and try to get it.
You may have just saved all of your subscribers from certain death. ☠️

Just came across this and have spent time on Raid. They come out with so many characters it’s hard to keep up. The shards are so expensive and you get doubles after doubles. To get a new character sometimes you need to spend 200 shards at once. With each type of shard if you don’t get a legendary you get a 2% bump in pulling a legendary and 9 out of 10 x u have it. This game is a cyber scam period. I read something that stated it took 3 years to become a billion dollar company !! 3 years !

Oh c'mon, it is like any other "F2P" mobile game - extreme prices that gives you only a little advantage. I play RAID for the last 4 months, I am F2P and I am having a loads of fun. The problem with P2W in this game is that if you pay $60/month you get nothing as everything is locked behind RNG. Luckily the game has options to acquire the same stuff a paying customer gets (shards to summon better heroes) and you get quiet a lot of it even as F2P! It is just the RNG factor that may hinder your progress :)
As I said, I am having loads of fun honestly. The beginning of the game is very simple but once you start to acquire better champions and you start to progress further you realize that the game is actually fairly complex in terms of building teams to deal with specific mechanics. And this is what I enjoy the most :)

Most gamers: you shouldn't be able to tell me what I can and cannot put into my body, even if it's harmful.
Also most gamers: Comrade, we need to talk about L O O T B O X E S.
definitely do not recommend this game. You either have to be exceedingly patient or you need to spend real money to progress. The game is designed to corner you into paywalls. Certain content requires certain champs, and of course gear. If you don't have those specific champs for that content, you will be stuck. Sure, you can build a comp to beat it without those champs, but that requires you building champs that make the runs a lot longer and those champs are typically useless anywhere else in the game. So you question if you want to build this team just for that content or wait for the right champs to appear from summons.
Building each champ requires a lot of time and resources, so it really sucks when they can only do one thing and they're not even that great at it. Waiting for summons can take you months and maybe over a year. Took me over a year to get a few champs that I really needed badly in order to progress and those champs were actually epics.
The drop rates are the worst I've seen on any game. .05% for legendary and 8% for epics. You can get double chances on a 2x event, but besides the rates, there are a lot of trash legos and epics, and on top of that, there's a chance that you will get a dupe. I had 7 dupe legos (who sit in the vault) and 12 unique legos from shards. Are you f'in kidding me?? This game's a joke. Oh, and one last thing...you think if you had 1% chance of summoning a lego on a 2x, that you would get 1 lego for every 100 shards...wrong. You definitely don't and I could swear they rigged it because I usually get close to mercy before I pull a lego and mercy is at 220 shards.
in addition to the shit drop rates, this game is a major time burn. Takes as much time as a part time job and most of that is mindless farming. If you're on an iPhone, you're kind of f'd since there's no autoclicker for iPhones. So iPhone users will have to click their mindless battles over and over.
Btw, this company is owned by a slot machine manufacturer whose CEO is the president of an organization for online gambling. You can google it.

The game has literally nothing exciting in it. It's a game where you grind, so you can grind other areas, and so on forever. They just hope once you invest time in it, you won't put it down. It's literally the most boring game i've ever played. People actually look forward to running it on auto because the content is so boring

The gameplay is extremely mediocre: you control four characters in turn-based combat, and each character has a default attack and two skills, the latter of which go into cooldown once used. Levels consist of three waves of enemies-clear all three waves and you beat the level.

Pro tip: if you want to farm specific champions from the campain, install a autoclicker and you can just leave the game overnight and have a ton of loot. I remember doing this when i was in high school on a chromebook. Who needs to pay 10 dollars for a autofarm feature when you can do it for free. XDXDXDXDXD.
