Thank you for your video. I was a bit divided on what to buy, but since the pricing where I live is around ~300 euros for all three, I ended buying all three. Did not regret it, they all bring a somewhat unique tasting profile, perfect for tasting nights. Like you I also prefer the Hennesy XO the most.
Thank you for your testing. I am new to Cognac and this will help in my selection.
Thanks Charles, very nice review, just what I was looking for.
Awesome review and info. Much appreciated!
Thanks so much for your review. I am a Remy Martin guy however I am drinking more Courvoisier and have tried the Hennessey and I also like them all.
Excellent video Mr. Walhingford, it was very informative. And of course, being a native of Puerto Rico I'm definitely feeling the Bomba being played at the beginning... 🇵🇷💕 P.S. I subscribed to your channel... 👌🏼👍🏼
hey glad I could help
I picked up a bottle of Courvoisier XO out of the big clearance rack they had at a local liquor store several years ago for $15. I had never tried cognac prior to that. If I'd known it was such a bargain at that price I would've bought every bottle in the bin. When I ran out several years later (I'm not much of a drinker) I had sticker shock.
Currently savoring the Hennessy Privilege and will try the XO on your recommendation.
You gave me an offer I can't refuse. I'll buy all 3 🥃
Remy Martin is the best in my opinion
I only tried VSOP once. Ofcourse it is a champagne cognac which gives it more aftertaste but i never tried its XO
It definitely is!!! Rémy is 40 years older and the quality is better
that Hennessy is really really good though! remy xo is my regular to drink on but that Hennessy is so smooooth!!!

My left ear really enjoyed the video! thank you!
Lmao
🤣🤣🤣 just noticed
Good review of cognac. Cheers mate
Hey man great video. I wish I was there with ya. Cheers !
Thanks for the honest opinion good sir cheers
This is Vasquez from State. I been buying up my XO's and what do you know. Great job brother.
I have only tried the henny xo and it is very good! Very smooth. I would like to try the remy but the last one isn’t sold where I am in Canada sadly
U are very professional in u words . All three deserve a go. I personally like hennessy n remy martin . Thanks for sharing.
im a big fan of smokey scotches, (ardbeg laphroaig talisker etc), are there any cognac's that have that sort of character? (saltiness chili catch etc)
Very Good video. I install Cognac Bar at Home now ...Top man !
Great review 👍
Thanks for the assessments. I wouldn't 100% agree with your opinion regarding VSOPs. There are some great sipping quality VSOPS out there. I only have experience of the kosher batches from Dupuy, Louis Royer and Courvoisier. I can tell you that, in my opinion, the Louis Royer VSOP is as good as any Single Malt Whisky within the same price range. On the other hand, I was disappointed with the Dupuy XO despite enjoying the VSOP version. Definitively not worth the extra money. I have just bought the Courvoisier XO in the gold box. Looking forward to sampling this one.
Martell was not included? Each has a slight distinctive taste profile. XO’s generally are above the range of most people. I just had a small serving of Hennessey vs from 2000. Yes it was ignored for so long because I generally don’t drink Very Special, but to my surprise it has mellowed out so much and the bite is almost not there! It was very honey like sweet! There was more than half a bottle left from 750 ml bottle. The alcohol content may have dissipated some what, but none the less I was really happy the it age well in the shelf. I did have to replace the original cork, but it was enjoyed neatly with a cigar. The bottle was bought for my son’s baby arrival party back in May 2000. I won’t drink it all myself as I want to share the experience with really good close friends.
Thanks mate!
I'm not an aficionado by any means just want to feel a little fancy at my graduation so I'm going to get a bottle to celebrate. What are your thoughts between Hennessey XO and D'usse XO. I have had neither.
I have never had D'usse so I can't tell you that Hennessey is better. However I have not heard anything about D'usse on any expert sites or reviewers(this make me wonder). When you look up Hennessey XO on top XOs it is never in the top 5 and the higher ranked XOs all cost less. Saying that before a year ago I refused to purchase Hennessey XO because I felt it was over priced and over-hyped and could not be a worthy purchase. I was wrong... slightly, it was very good and it had an original distinguishable profile and tasting notes. When I said I was slightly wrong I still did not purchase this cognac at the retail price. I purchased it in St. Thomas U.S.V.I with a good discount and no tax, therefore, I felt then and only then it was worth the price. D'usse and Hennessey both are about hype and marketing. The price does not reflect in quality. So for the reasons you want one of these XO is not for the scientific or artistic value but rather the emotional value. And what I have learn about life, sometimes(not most of the time) this is a worthy reason to make a decision too. With that as your decision maker I'd go with Hennessey only because the bottle is completely different than the VSOP bottle. The D'usse XO bottle looks very similiar to the VSOP bottle and I would not want anyone to get my 250+ dollar bottle of cognac mixed up with a 50+ dollar bottle of cognac.
As the quality of cognac goes I am sure which ever spirit you choose will be at least very good; XO cognac must be, by French Law aged for at least 10 years which will make for a smoother and more complex version of there VSOP. I hope this helped and congratulations.
I've purchased all 3 in the past. Hennessey XO is the best by far. It's also more expensive than the other two.
IMO Martell XO is the best out of the standard XO variety. Cinnamon, fig & bergamot.
Martell is great ... Often overlooked but if you know, you know!
Thanks for your review, i am in the doubt of choosing in the category VSOP Courvoisier or Hennessy. Wich is your choise?
In the category of VSOP I cannot recommend any of these. I no longer drink VSOP Cognac. There are many ways to circumvent the jump in price for a a XO Cognac. Email me : charles.walhingford@gmail.com
If you want to put a gun to my head , I did make a video about it.

2 things I can't let go of...my Wife and Hennessy...it's like PB&J
Fax💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Pass da Courvoisier!
Are you a time-travelling Eminem fan? 🤯🤯🤯
Only stuff I tried was korbel, E&J, Christian Brothers, and paul masson, because I'm poor. 🤗
Jacob Pohlabel Christian brothers ain’t bad
I understand brother. Those were top shelf when I was in school. : )
Asbach is a good middle choice
I think E&J is a Brandy.
What about a blind test?
Great review. I also like Henny best and Courvoisier second best, but at XO level it's like splitting hairs he he :-)
I’m new to the drink scene and haven’t really tested my palette, should I buy a 12 year old yamazaki whisky or the hennesy xo for 120 that’s 25 quid off?
which one do you enjoy more Cognac or Whiskey(Japanese Whiskey resembles Scotch). It is a comparison of apples and oranges.
great video thank you
отличный материал спасибо
superbe vidéo merci
Great vid Charles I've only tried the Remy XO and from drinking it I can't go back to vsop or 1738 Remy. I loved don Julio, belvedere, but now all I can drink is the Remy XO its sure is worth the money. In gonna try the henn XO next month and ill leave you u another comment on the taste of it
Yes it is very hard to go back to VSOP once you go XO. You have to try Martell Cordon Bleu or XO
@@CharlesWalhingford Martell Cordon Bleu or Martell XO?? What's your pick?
@@travisdavis1609 Cordon Bleu
Get 1738 you’ll be fine
Good reviews
I just had Hennessey XO vs Martell XO last weekend. Gotta say, Martell was much more rounded, smooth and flavorful, with a much longer finish.
yes Martell is a better product. Unfortunately not many have heard of Martell.
Charles Walhingford I am in Pennsylvania and I find Martell as much or more available than the big 4. Although I am interested in exploring even higher end cognacs, budget permitting because I find cognac as the finest refined spirit of them all. No slight to great scotch whisky. Was once bought a dram of Louie for my birthday and was forever I love. Now I research even higher priced cognacs and I am setting financial goals. Also know my way around a cigar. Wish were were local as to be able to compare notes
Penn is a special place I have found many different spirits in ole PA, however i have been to many different t clubs, restaurants, resorts around the world and Martell is not common at all. You are the second person to suggest martell and I have both Cordon Bleu and XO in my cabinet. I plan to do another Cognac challenge.
Dan Bearer it sure is! Though I prefer the cordon bleu over the XO
I personally find the Hennessey highly overrated but still very good. Martell and Remy are my favourite mainstream cognacs by far. I'm yet to try the Camus but hopefully this autumn in Cognac, France. Louis XIII will have to wait...
“Im not tryna get drunk doing this..”
Meanwhile 1/3 is missin from each 1/5 😭
Hi, what can you say about Camus XO in comparison with this three ones?
Yes please compare to camus xo too. Want to know your opinion bro. Thanks
Good job brotha, I have the XO HENNESSY, I Agree!
watching your review will sipping on de luze XO!! must try guys if you haven't already

It would be cool to know if there are any Brandy's that can be a daily replacement for a cognac if you need to save the cognac for special occasions.
I'm a Cognac drinker but for everyday Go TRY = > RAYNAL < VSOP brandy French approx U.S. $ 18.00 / 750 or $30 -32.00 /1.75L Bargain & taste just like any good cognac without the marketing / mainstream hype. Cognac was not a popular spirit in U.S. until early -mid 80's when Henessy started marketing towards the color / hip hops music etc crowds.
Thanks for sharing
Thinking about getting one to start up with my own little bar, gotta have a nice one for the bar
Making your own little bar, that’s pretty sick

yeah Yeah YEAH SMH
tipsy?
maybe?
sort of!
Probably!
Ok, the volume issue was addressed after a few minutes
Have you tried Camus xo? Local package stores pushing this brand and granted it has won a lot of rewards as well. I would like to see your thoughts on it vs these three brands
Atlanta Guns yes just search Charles Walhingford Camus
These are upwards of $250-300 here in Canada I believe. 🇨🇦
Before tax?
I'm only watching because I'm actually sippin on some Courvoisier right now🤣✊🍾🥂🥃🥃
lol hell yeah
I could drink courvoisier forever
My first brown alcohol 🥴🥰
I would have liked to see Martell in the line up - for me, it's fantastic.
Courvoisier is the best in my opinion especially at that price point a lot cheaper than the other two and just as good and like the man said even better then the Remy
How, much,
audio issue man i think u only recorded in mono not stereo
Since you’re actually drinking and speaking with your knowledge I trust your opinions
RICHARD DELISLE XO is my favorite
if you can get an independently bottled cognac from the "grande champagne" or "petite champagne" regions, there's a chance you'll find way more age for your price, at least that's how it is in europe.
Remy Martin XO
bro, it was so cheap back then, it like $49.99 - $52.99
for a 1L of hennessy, $139.99 - $159.99 for 750ml for a Remy Martine XO
Well done.
Why is Jim Beam so hard to defeat as a fallback: it is just right all the way around to me for the price.
I would Love to here your opinion on Hennessy VSOP vs Hennessy XO.
there is no comparison
Yeah I tried to Hennessy XO smooth and classic Remy Martin XO it was okay it was just okay it have enough Flair to it never try the Courvoisier XO think I'm next paycheck needs to be Hennessy Paradise
1738 Remy Martin .Enough said.
Only for my real good friends, 😊😉
Should have included Martell XO in the comparison.
I purposely excluded Martell. Martell is the next level.
@@CharlesWalhingford Is Martel vs and vsop also better than other cogniacs. I come from low standard country, so 200 per bottle is really a lot even if you drink once in a month with friends...
Can you buy a good tasting cognac under $50?
Simply...No!
20 more dollars just a few
Remy Martin vsop is around that amount here in Wisconsin. Best cognac I drink for that price.
Spend an extra $10 and get Hennessy Privilege VSOP. It’s the next best thing to XO imo. If you’re wanting to stay under $50 I normally drink Dusse or Remy Martin 1738 though.
@@CharlesWalhingford for $70 dollar's, which cognac would you buy? O need some recommendations
Courvoisier, Henney, and Remey. It's unfortunate you didn't open up its "full" flavor in the courvoisier and Henney. I believe had you open and experience its full flavor (hidden) your line up would not only be different, but really enjoy its hidden full flavor.
Sir, What the hell are you talking about?
You didn't experience the full flavor of either XO's, that's what I'm talking about. I would be happy to introduce you to experiencing their full flavor?
@Aude S. I don't think you understand the premise of this video. This video is to attract the novice spirits drinker. The individual that may want to delve deeper into Brandies such as cognac. If were to go too advanced in this particular video it would have far less views. I think you are underestimating my expertise. If you would like to discuss this further, by all means email me: charles.walhingford@gmail.com
I love Remy Martin XO and Hennessy XO I buy them both all the time
You must be loaded
@@chalkywhitelll8448 no I have a great job
I have Not tried these 3 XOs but between Remi Martin n Courvoisier VSOP, Remi Martin is in a different class to Courvoisier in a big way, I been drinking Cognac for about 35 Plus years, specially when you consider Courvoisier VSOP is only marginally cheaper than Remi Martin No way
Remy is the best in my opinion. I was lucky to get my XO Remy for $75. I now am saving for the Louis XIII.
Lol that bottle of Remy XL you got is 375ml I bet
@@justinambrose4444 no it was 50% off. I also work in a liquor store so I know the difference between pints and 5ths.
@@archerer98 didn't mean to come off disrespect for anything and wow that's the craziest price I've ever heard in my life I would never think a big house cognac would do that you've been blessed brother 💯
@@justinambrose4444 no worries. Sorry I didn't mean to misconstrue. The store(not the one I work at) had a huge sale on all high end liquor at Xmas time. Not sure why but everything sold in a week or so.
@@archerer98 I bet bro that's ridiculous crazy price.. I just bought a bottle of courvoisier XO and got it for 99 bucks so I guess that's cool
Courvoisier isn't very good I mean if you're like me and drink henni and are broke it's the next best thing but it's more bitter not as smooth as henni
great video. I've had the XO of Courvoisier & Remy, but never the Hennessy. I've never liked the cheaper Hennessy, so I was surprised to hear it was #1.
If there isn't the good stuff at a party, I normally stick with the better rum with coke. I get a hangover with other liquors, I have to stick with rum.
If I see the other mentioned cognacs, I normally sip that all night and I'm a happy camper. Cheers!
I was completely taken aback to find out how good the XO was. the others don't even taste like it came form the same Company. Is it worth purchasing? Maybe. Are other brands Like Camus, Prunier, or Martell better? Absolutely!
You are very well versed in XO cognacs. In my opinion, these specimens are much inferior to other more interesting ones - Frapin XO. Chateau De Montefaud XO Millennium. These skates are much more interesting, although not advertised as Hennessy.
I agree completely however I would not have as many views if I did those brands. I have done videos with Park, Camus, Frapin, Deluze, ABK6 XOs and get very little traction. One would argue that I shouldn't do it for the views. I would counter and say that person has never made one UA-cam video.

Camus XO and Courvoiser XO.
Cour is not so complex
alwys mix with coke o no sacrilige.
Charles, why didn’t you put Martell XO in that challenge? Martell blows all of those out of the water.
Of course it would. that would be another video. I planned to pit Martell against De luze and Camus XOs. However, that video would not get no where nearly the traction that this video has.

Out of these three, yes. If you compare it to other lesser known brands, no a chance.

Pardon my ignorance but I have had a bottle of VSOP for about 10 years. Unopened and was wondering if it is still good. Please let me know. Thanks.
Reality Check that depends. Check the seal, if it's broken you may have some residue. If the bottle has a perfect seal, it should be fine
It'll be fine. If it was in a cask it would be damn near XO
