Hi Andrea, Thank you so much for your bravery and commitment to authenticity, regardless of the consequences. In these turbulent times, I have observed that people who resort to personal attacks and intimidation are doing more to cripple creative spaces than to eradicate any inequities found in them. For example, the other day, I was in another creative space online. We were commenting, asking questions, and learning from another participant's preview of their upcoming project. The flow was smooth and going well, and then someone commented that the subject of the project was a "MAGA." Though subsequent commenters stood up to this person and told them they had been misinformed, I wondered what this person hoped to achieve from saying this? We were in that space to grow and learn as creatives. I wondered how that person's comment contributed to this? Also, I wondered in what ways this person's comment was supposed to help people like me facilitate conversations about any gender or racial inequities that might exist in the larger industry or this creative space? Short answer: it wasn't supposed to do any of those things. It was sent to intimidate and identify people who didn't agree with this person. I have also observed that intimidation like this doesn't work to cancel people as much as it works to create an exclusive group. The problem with that in the creative industries is that it is unsustainable. Uniformity makes dead art; and you can only take each other's money so long before you run out. You need other people-with diversity of thought and perspectives-to create indelible and timeless art and to appreciate and consume that art. My final observation is that intimidators, and those who remain intimidated (basically, those who "play dead" or don't speak up in an attempt to avoid _immediate_ persecution), assume that those in their exclusive groups won't attack and devour them simply because they _appear_ to share the same perspective on one line of thought. The problem here is that assuming that sharing a particular perspective is not protection. Especially when you condone the means (intimidation) by which people seek to control and manipulate others to get their way. Today it could be about excluding people based on their politics, tomorrow it can be about excluding more people because they disagree about the venue for a conference, or who to invite to speak, or a certain trend in the industry. Basically, it's not about the object of conversation as much as it is about *_the way_* we, in the creative industries, permit different perspectives to be addressed. If we choose intimidation and exclusion, it will ultimately end up like the end of Martin Niemöller's poem _First They Came_ : "Then they came for me And there was no one left To speak out for me." Heaven forbid we end up here.
Also, I am very curious about the space that you were in and would love to learn more about it. If you wouldn't mind sharing, you can email me direcly here: andrea@andreaeppolito.com
I want to express this with upmost sincerity and kindness. If you care about freedom of religion, then we shouldn’t undermine the right of women to control their bodies, reason being there are many religions that do not see abortion as a sin, Judaism for example. Atheism and Agnosticism would honor the living woman over the supposed “soul” of a fetus. The conservatives of this era are undermining freedom of religion and freedom from religion.

Thank you! I have always said that I plan weddings for people in love, and if/when you decide to get married I would be honored to be considered. I don’t think anyone ever shames the left for posting their political views or cautions them about the risk to their business - which is the point of my video. I’m pro-Gay marriage. I’m pro-choice. Most of my conservative friends are - but by and large we are not encouraged or allowed to share our POV because people have labeled us incorrectly or applied to extreme-right views to us. Most of us are much more middle of the road. I do very much appreciate your support and the fact that you took the time to comment. Thank you ❤
I was raised in Trump’s NY and he was always seen as a blustering buffoon who stiffed his contracts. genuine question: What is a conservative wedding planner? That’s like saying you’re a conservative painter. You’re in the creative arts therefore regardless of what you would choose for yourself or someone else, your disposition is to be open to people’s vision for their lives and their big day. Putting them first- putting other people first. If you’re oriented to only see your vision, it might be limiting for the client. Trump voters have become known for putting themselves first above anyone else.
I really appreciate your comment and your desire to have a conversation. I’ll start by saying that I love connecting with a fellow New Yorker. I left over 30 years ago, and while I don’t miss living there, I certainly miss the people! In terms of how Trump supporters see themselves and the way that we are portrayed or the reputation that we have… I’ll start with this: I believe that everyone votes, according to their own conscience and their own experience. Each of us brings our own set of needs and priorities to the voting booth, and every other decision we make. And so every person, whether a Democrat or a republican is thinking about the things that matter to them when they make a decision about how they vote. Whether that is taxes, immigration, international relations, women’s rights, the military industrial complex, etc. We also think about our own children and the world we want to leave them, our friends, our parents, our communities and so on. And so we all have a somewhat limited and self-directed world view. But I believe that Trump supporters have been portrayed more often as people that are more self-centered, as opposed to Democrats, who are portrayed as people who are more driven to be social saviors. I started my video by saying I never thought I would have to make a comment like this. As an artist and as a designer, I seek to take my clients world view and filter it through my lens. And for that reason, my own viewpoint on many of these topics has never mattered to me. The only reason that I felt the need to address this was because a colleague and contemporary, who is familiar with my political views publicly posted about me, my private family life, and then began to argue with friends and other industry professionals on my Threads page. Ultimately, I abhor a bully and this video was made in response to a public attack.
Hi, I too no longer live in NY but I miss the sensibilities of New Yorkers most, namely an appreciation for diversity and novelty, a “live and let live” mentality, an uncanny knack for small talk, and a belief that people of all walks of life have equal worth and value in a given society. Yes, we do carry our values to the ballot box, my own personally being that ‘we all do better when we all do better’. Therefore policies which look out for marginalized peoples, young people, women, poor people and the working class will always win out over tax cuts for the 1% or mass deportations of families. As far as detesting a bully, Trump, long before questioning Obama’s birth certificate or name calling Mexicans and Haitians, was referring to women in public life as dogs, pigs, and horrific terms denigrating their appearances. He was openly cheating on his first wife with his second, putting page six on the map. He subsequently buried his first wife unceremoniously on an unmarked grave on his golf course. That’s a bully. By now I assume that listing these qualities does nothing to sway the people who support him. And I can respect that you most likely arrived at supporting him through your social environment. Based on your thoughtful responses, I don’t deny your genuine desire to connect with those of us deeply hurt by the election outcome. I just want to say you always have the freedom to change your mind, to be open to new information, and no one will begrudge you that.

@ When people throw around words like fascist, racist, Nazi, etc. it diminishes the power in the severity of those words and cheapens them. Two questions… 1.) what exactly happened under Donald Trump’s first presidency that leads you to believe that he is a fascist? Be specific and note how he expand the role in the rights of the government, how did he diminish the role of the people, and what policies were put into place that gave him ultimate control. If he truly were a fascist, then explain the election in 2020. 2.) If you are an American or if you live in this country and you truly believe that Donald Trump is a fascist, then what steps are you taking right now to either leave or protect yourself and your family. And just for fun, can you actually define and describe what a fascist is? Not because you Google it, and not because the media says it, but can you explain it to me in Laymans terms and then tie the definition to the historical actions of Donald Trump And the government while he was president?

Hi Andrea,
Thank you so much for your bravery and commitment to authenticity, regardless of the consequences.
@@AndreaEppolitoEventsyou deleted my response to you, you are not interested in an honest dialogue. You are interested in looking good
@@Didi781c I didn’t delete anything, and I never saw a response to any of my responses. I’m obviously trying to engage with you and share my POV but I can’t do that if you won’t allow me to.
Although I like your work, I wouldn’t hire you because of your political views. Why would I want to be around someone that wishes harm on me and people I love. I lean more conservative too but this is different.
There are so many different designers and personalities out there; you certainly have the right to choose - and I respect that. But who do I hate? Who do I wish harm to? I quite literally say in the video at 36:44 that I don't hate anybody, and I would love to speak with everyone and anyone about the things that are happening in our country.
Fascist much?
@AndreaEppolitoEvents
Oh noooo!!
I wasn't calling you or Donald Trump a fascist, I was calling the lady who refused to hire you a fascist! haha lol 😅😅😂😭
