New third person view is difinitely my favorite feature. I also wanna see what Disco looks like in Xenon ships. Prolly the same.
The new ships and redesigned ship look amazing.
I think I'll personally appreciate the quality of life feature the most however. I very much look forward to the new external camera and radial menu.
I'm also looking forward to a late-game crisis. Though, I really hope we get some setting to decide when "late game" is for our playthrough.
But mostly, I'm happy to see them continuing to build on and refine X4.
Apparently the player will have to purposefully activate the crisis themselves, so it'll only start if and when you want it :D
i hope they continue to add new ships and expand the rooms, it really does help make the galaxy feel more full. i always run with ship mods as it gets boring when its all the same ships, i remember x3 with mods had over 200 ships lol
the QOL additions are massive too!. i honestly hope X4 keeps going because the sky/moon is the limit with this game, and its been going for years.
We'll see how far they (can) go. Hopefully a little longer :)
All these changes are awesome, hopefully one day we see improvements to npc faces and animations! Also does the new interiors mean we have race specific landing pads and elevators and terminals now?
Terminals are unique on ships, not yet on stations. Elevators not yet.
Man i was just so happy they put a preview of satellite coverage prior to deploying, no more calculated guess work XD

Seems like a decent update. I hope the devs or somebody shows a before and after of the ships redesigned. There was a ship in their trailer at 1:11 and I am curious to know if it's a new ship or a redesigned one because it looks awesome.

I played yesterday for a short look and it is fantastic. Khaak Capitals are back, explosions looks good now. Good stuff nice update.
1:41 ... that is the ship from albion prelude. Well a mothership of people that got lost as its old xenon drone to fix planets.
Yeah, the old terraformer ship next to Aldrin. # deca.

To be more specific, it's a Terraformer CPU ship, of the same kind as # deca, # efaa, # deff and # cafe. These ships birthed the ancestors of the Xenon to terraform worlds, before Marteen Winters accidentally drove them mad in an attempt to save them through the Xenon Virus.
Most were destroyed during the Terraformer War of 2146 and the Xenon Conflicts of 2385/215 NT-2425/255 NT and 2912/742 NT. Only 3 were known to still exist until now.
Another important fact is that before the Xenon split off into branches across the galaxy, two of these CPU ships (# deff and # efaa) were their leaders. The Community of Planets tried to destroy them both and managed to kill # deff, but not before it blew up a star in Black Hole 2:19 Sun in an attempt to drive away its pursuers. Before # efaa could be destroyed, the Sohnen intervened and forced the Community forces to spare her.
The star # deff destroyed is believed to have been the cause of the Kha'ak homeworld's destruction, as it unleashed a gamma ray burst that struck their planet.
Next time I stream I'm gonna turn on colour-blind mode, change all UI elements to random colours and constantly mess with the FOV slider! Radial menu 'Down' will be 'Yaw Left' and 'Up Right' will be 'Strafe Down'. Madness!

Hopefully the optimal utilization of the hardware will also be optimized so that you no longer have a slide show when you build large stations or enter a fully packed system!
Multithreading is such a sticking point with X4 that it is not so optimal!
Because when I see how underutilized my PC system is and then I see ingame that I only have 20FPS or even only 6FPS, I lose interest in the game. I've really liked the X series since the first X (X: Beyond the Frontier) came out!
I'm excited to get back to X4. Best to wait for Timelines though, right?

What was "mouse HUD mode" previously I hope that doesn't get rid of the steering mode where the mouse's offset from the center turned the ship. I use that all the time.

nothing about performance optimizations? even in your vid the screen tearing is terrible, performance has always been bad....DLSS? i have no idea why they dont focus on optimizing their game 1st
How do I turn off the hud glow it’s blinding and making the game difficult to play. I can’t find it in settings.
In graphic settings, something about glow :) you can turn it off there
2:25 Google zoom in keyboard key can be also "Y" as a default. Check your key binds.
Do u know if we need to start a fresh game or can we still use an old save...i started a game off about 8 months ago and dont reslly want to start fresh..cheers

but then the big wait "AI fix", the economy AI and combat AI, it's something that was being requested since launch, but never addressed, just releasing the variables for modding might fix the problem.
The customization options for accessibility were much needed, right?
@@CaptainCollins yes, and an extreme rare case that you get to pick what color to show 👍, this was something asked for for like over 30 years and most devs decided to choose "fixed" color changes trying to help the 27 different cases of colorblinds.
It is not a comparison to miss the work of Egosoft, it is quite the opposite. They brought SC interaction features that are more user-friendly and that work great and I like that! I'll give myself an envication right now hahahaha

No idea about how many, but it's clear that some good modders joined the team.

A lot of new features added from the beginning but one important thing is not comming : changing the menus interface which is not userfriendly, horrible to see and horrible to use.

Also, a really important one when you're trying to kill stations: "Added option to mark Build Storages as hostile."
This may mean you can keep their build storage empty after blasting all the defenses off a station, and prevent them from sneaking new turrets in! Previously, you had to shoot that stuff manually. That's how I would (slowly) prune the xenon out of a system before I was able to field more than a couple destroyers...
I find the mention of a "Reduced Speed Mode" to be intriguing too. It apparently slows down some aspects of gameplay.
Also... "Improved balancing of stellar output across all systems to match stars and locations." WHAAA no more need for a mod to make the older systems have variable solar effectiveness!? FINALLY!

Hi! First-time commenter, long-time viewer 😊 I had seen an interview with Egosoft a while back where they said they were adding new Borin station units in this expansion or patch. Not new, I guess, but new boron-themed assets for some of the station units that are "borrowed" from other cultures. Did those make it I to the game? I can't find any references to them anywhere and thought you might know. 😊

I mean, all of that is impressive, but I'm still waiting for the simple ability to turn off those godawful 80s era supermarket station announcements we've all heard enough times we have nightmares about them. Also, not holding my breath on this one because I know it will never happen, but I wish they'd pull their ego out of their arsehole and lose the tag of shame and blocking of paid online content (looking at you, Yasur) against modders.
Thanks muchly for the condensed version. I've not played this game for a long time as it sucks so much of my time, I also had a couple of bugs at the time which were ruining my playthrough. Hopefully all is well now.

Can you make a video about the crisis. I try to find infos about it. because it ruins my game. i cant progress. I am just losing against the invasion of the khaak.
Love this game but what I desperately need is a better CPU utilization and improved AI piloting. Just these two and I won't ask for anything else.
If they would just give us back the original argo ships from X3 along with flak cannons like they were...that's all I want...

Jesus, I was just about to find a damn mod that would do exactly this. I'm so glad I can see my health in 3rd person now, that was such a huge pain to manage in large ship combat.
i cant whait till X4 7.0 goes live, i realy like finaly to fly in 3rd person with Hud and many more. This update is so great and i realy like the dive in when its finaly out of Beta
Wow... TAA... sjeezz.. they are really going overboard with their ancient engine... I guess DLSS/FSR is out of the question for this engine. I guess making the game actually playable beyond 5-7 fps midgame+ on a good system would be too much too ask but we'll see... Maybe in about 10 or so updates I'll give it another go... Good thing they are still updating it so I have some hope left.

DLSS will not change the game performance in any way. It's a simulation and heavy computation power (CPU) bound. I will make a video explaining this in the near future.
Yeah, need a good guide for working with fleets, now it looks everything has changed. Also why my saves say modified game, i don't have any addons?

Been a fan since X3R and I want to say I always held strong but Rebirth made me loose heart, X4 has been the salvation of this company imo.
if i were egosoft, in parallel, i would focus on a isometric top down, that focused on depth and features over a clanky engine, akin to factorio or starsector/distant worlds universe/
Will we get remodelled ships from all the previous games, x, x2, x3, x rebirth (although there is a good mod for those already)
cant wait till they remove fps mode, and you can do missions w/o terrible walking on stations, like in previous X's

OK biggest question... have they fixed aggro caused by accidental friendly fire.
This got me so exited to play X4 again, but I really want to wait for the full release and experience the new content and updates in their full glory

Finally a 2rd person mode! I can finally see my ship in battle! Finally argon capital ships! I hated using terran mats

I really want ship and station interiors. I'm a real sim player so my heart burns to feel actually living in stations and ships
God this game would be SO MUCH better if they would improve the AI.
That is one of the things being improved in the update.
