Played X3 terran conflict and Albion Prelude about 12 years ago and loved it. I was too young to really get into the logistics so ill buy this game tonight 😊
Thanks for the video! I just saw some promotional video from Angry Joe and I used to play X3 I think it was as a kid\teenager. I thought the series died but it seems to do pretty good. Then I checked steam and the list of DLC and price tag for all of them was too much so your video gives me some good idea. I also used to love Boron. Good to know they are inside some DLC
@@WatchMysh Yeah might wait a bit or for now get the main game and later get DLC. I guess I can keep using the same save game even after getting DLC later? Man I remember when I added Battlestar Galactica mods to X3. Fun times. But it also melted my PC when flying around my main industry systems. I guess X4 is also pretty heavy on the PC
your top 3 are the factions DLC. Those a save bets for any dev. Tides of Avarice IMO is the content egosoft has to follow right now because they say the universe is complete (even thought they broke that with QET) Avarice addaded vertical content. The scrap mechanich enritches meaningfully the gameplay. And the VIG alone is a minor faction which also enriches the gameplay much more than the QET. They are not simply pirates, they do feel as an organised crime mafia due to have big concentrated numbers. What we need now is vertical content. Not more ships. From this 7.0, the only meaningful ship addition to the game has been the H. Which is a nice gunboat for the xenon. A big ship with antifighter capabilities they didnt have previously. The rest of new ships have been meaningless. This patch has rebalanced the sunlight in the universe. That has been vertical and meaningful.
loved X2 back in the day, but was irked that there was an official pirate faction, with pirate registration marks and pirate ships - whereas you'd expect pirates to try and blend in a little! has X4 improved on this?
Yea they be undercover in which ever faction territory they are in, even taking the same tag until they attack one of your traders or miners, then they go red and show who they are, they do have plunderer or marauder in the name but not that easy to see that unless you look at every ship closely.
They conceal themselves, albeit a bit poorly. You can pretend that their ships aren't designated as "official" models and their modifications to carry more plunder fly under the radar from authorities (e.g. the Minotaur Raider has its own name and is its own ship for what can be guessed to be gameplay reasons, but you can pretend the pirates kept the original license plates showing it as any other Minotaur class). The Scale Plate pact is the one "illicit faction" that doesn't fly official colours and performs this kind of spoofing, I think the Fallen Families as well but I haven't had the opportunity to interact with them beyond gaining rep with them through mission givers. Duke's Buccaneers and the Vigor Syndicate are closer to marauders with the way they openly run their business.
@@cdgonepotatoes4219 So I'm pretty sure the FRF (Fallen Families) and ZYA are just regular factions like HOP and PAR from the base game, ZYA and FRF being Split from the Split Vendetta expansion and HOP and PAR being paranid, but Vigor are defo pirates, from the Tides of Averice expansion.
Thanks a lot, got Split Vendetta and Cradle of Humanity with my base game purchase! Ready to dive in!
And, do you like it? :)

nah, pirates always put plunderer or marauder in the names of their ships, they do spoof the faction they're registered to though.
