Medusa vs Son of Hercules

  • In my view Medusa vs Son of Hercules and the Beast of Babylon vs the Son of Hercules are two of the greatest movies of the Sons of Hercules TV series. While some consider the Medusa kind of cheesy by today's special effects standards. As a young kid sitting up late on a Saturday night watching TV back in the days of the TV series it was kind of a cool creature.
Found a way to get the full video working without having to cut it into parts. Much more enjoyable as a whole instead of parts.

I'm 66 and I remember watching over 100 Peplum aka Swords and Sandels movies in the 1960s at the local theater. Almost every Saturday my parents could get rid of me for Saturday watching 2 Hercules and Hercules knockoff movies and a couple of cartoons for something less than a dollar and another dollar for popcorn and soda at that time!

Thrilling to watch the many beautiful horses filmed so well! I was hooked in to watch this whole movie because of the horses and amazing scenery! And are there even this many horsemen on Earth around anymore, I wonder? So glad to see this -- thank you.

The Sons of Hercules played every Saturday morning when I was a kid. Then my parents would give me $2 to walk 3 blocks to the Putt-Putt. $1 for 6 hours of Putt-Putt and $1 for a drink and fries at the Dairy Queen next door. I was expected to bring home the change. It was a great time to be a kid.

I SPENT MANY A SATURDAY AFTERNOON WATCHING "SONS OF HERCULES THEATER" OUT OF PITTS. PA.I LEARNED SO MUCH FROM THESE MOVIES AND SAW THEM AS MORE THAN SWORD AND SANDAL EPICS .THIS MOVIE IS ONE OF MY TOP 5 WITH THE "MOLE MEN AGAINSTTHE SONS OF HERCULES" AS MY FAVORITE. THESE MOVIES BRING BACK SO MANY HAPPY MEMORIES.

that's the fun of these movies because they can.t be compared to the movies of today.in their own merit for the time in which they were made these films were classics. I knew the theme song by heart and can still sing it today.

I loved these types of movies. I grew up in the 1960s and almost every Saturday went to watch 2 Hercules and Hercules knockoff movies (Goliath, Samson, Atlas, Sons of Hercules, Machiste, etc.). I own probably 70+ ones on DVD. Quality is not very good on a lot of them as the colors are faded. Actual Steve Reeves movies are well preserved.

I remember watching as many of these *_Sons of Hercules_* episodes as I could. I particularly remember this episode because of that one-eyed Medusa. Plus the opening and closing songs of the series has been stuck in my head since the early 1960s, almost 60 years.
The first movie I ever saw was *_Hercules Unchained with Steve Reeves_* in 1960 in Detroit Michigan at the Center Theater on Woodward Avenue right off of East Grand Boulevard, a few miles from Hitsville. To me, Reeves will always be the best and ultimate Hercules. I was hooked; and still am!

Yeah, this is about the only one I remember, mainly because of the Medusa and the hero telling everyone to come back alive. My Dad and I would watch these movies on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. Now almost 60 years, those memories with him are back again.

In nearly all s & s movies, the villains have dark beards and sinister countenances, as have the wicked king and his son here. Their soldiers have b & w garb, whilst the goodies gear is mainly red & white. Not a lot changes with s & s movies, yet this is an entertaining, if cheesey, romp. Thanks for uploading this one - all excellent escapist stuff.

In the 60s Embassy Pictures Television purchased the rights to 14 of these strongman movies from Italy, and gave them all the same intro and opening narration. Called them all "Sons of Hercules" in order to explain the fact that the hero was never repeated in any of the episodes, and the rest is history.
You have to admit that it was clever.

Wow, we did too! Lived in Okalona back then on Oakmont Drive. The street is still there but the houses have long since been razed. They weren't old houses, I guess the area just flooded too often. I always remember on the opening credits watching that guy shove that spear through like three or four dudes in a row, lol. I was maybe 5 or 6 years old at the time. And it seemed like in every episode there was always some queen throwing girls into a fire. Weird the stuff ya remember from back then.

All right, I say it. I like this version of the "Perseus" story BETTER than "CLASH OF THE TITANS". Never mind the visuals, this movie simply has better characters, is more emotionally engaging, and is more exciting.
The hero in this one also reminds me a bit of James Franciscus.

Liked the movie, but i always wondered why when a group of horsemen enter a narrow passage and arrows and burning things begin to rein down upon them they all just STOP and go around in circles. I would think you either haul ass forward or retreat outward since it would be very difficult to fight back, but, maybe that's just me. After reading some of the comments, I'll just say that was certainly an original take on Medusa.

Not worth the time, and I like a lot of the old Saturday afternoon monster movies. The one really good character and actor (princess) just was not enough to offset all the incredibly drawn out scenes, weak story, long “practicing” unmotivated fight and monster scenes, and over use of their one and only horse whinny track that really irritated me. The monsters were good.

In my opinion, it's a piss poor movie, folks. Don't wast your time. It's even on TV's Svengoolie show tonight. I give it a 1.5 star, maybe 2 star.

Man what's up with you, these movies are old school, not new and high tech, what can you expect for the time, they were great for us kids who even had movies to watch peroid, just think what would you have done without any movies period, before movies were created, so they are what they are for the time period, so appreciate them for that
