Goliath and the Sins of Babylon (1963)
    Director: Michele Lupo
Writers:Roberto Gianviti(story and screenplay), Francesco Scardamaglia(story and screenplay), Lionello De Felice
Stars: Mark Forest, José Greci, Giuliano Gemma
    Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama, Romance
    Country: Italy
    Language: English
Also Known As: Maciste, the World's Greatest Hero
Release Date: 22 August 1963 (Italy)
    Duration: 80 min
Filming Location: Monte Gelato Waterfall, Mazzano Romano, Lazio, Italy
    Reviews:
"Way above average for this type of thing. Lavishly produced, with plenty of truly rousing action sequences and a real sense of fun helped in no small way by the presence of Mark Forest. Forest had charisma to spare, with his teen idol good looks (impaired only slightly by a prematurely receding hairline!) and herculean physique. Most of all he really seemed to get into the action and fight scenes and in this film he's ably supported by the stunt choreographers, who bring a sense of humor reminiscent of the old Burt Lancaster epics (THE CRIMSON PIRATE etc.) or the early Jackie Chan. In addition SINS OF BABYLON is directed with real flair. Highly recommended for those into peplum."-Written by horrorfilmx

In the 1960s Italian movie ' The Beautiful Ipollita , Gina Lollobrigida looked beautiful as a blonde and she was very funny .
There was even a cute comedy scene where Gina got shot in the butt .
Her husband used a shotgun and gave her a behind full of buckshot .
The English translation is titled ' Curves in the Road ' , i saw it once on tv and wish i could see it again , to understand the words .
      Hehe .

This is fiction. There is no reference to history here. A documentary is a film, video, or radio program that presents facts about real people or events, with little or no fictional content. Documentaries are often used to create new insight or exposure to facts. The term "documentary" can also refer to anything involving documents

Not very historical, actually. Babylon was defeated by the Medes long before Christ, and then about halfway on a timescale after that and before Jesus, Alexander the Great defeated everything to the east he could find, thus 'Helenizing' everything from Iran to Egypt to Macedonia.

These kind of movies played in a regular Special show between 1pm to 3pm daily. Some people believe Mark Forest was born in Barisal, Bangladesh.

Another of the Peplums or Spear and Sandal films. Lottsa fun. The original Italian title translates to Maciste, the World's Greatest Hero. Changed to Goliath for the U.S. market. The second outing of Mark Forest (an American) as Machiste. Great sets, costumes and music. However the original score by DeMasi was removed and replaced by a score by Lex Baxter.

This is an excellent entry in the peplum genre with a tight story that even features a cool chariot race. No, it's not BEN-HUR, but given its modest budget it's still a rousing sequence, with a twist by having the leading lady as one of the contestants.😊

I was surprised how good this film was. I was expecting a Steve Reeves Hercules type flick with next to nothing story line, with emphasis mainly on showing as much bulging muscle possible. This movie does have a couple of minor flaws such as the narrator placing the time of the story to 200 BC, a time where the Babylonian empire no longer existed but had been taken over by the Persians. A woman charioteer ? That is a first for me. The battle dress doesn´t seem right and the title is misleading since the original uses the name of Maciste, a popular character who goes way back to the silent era of Italian cinema. Other than that I quite like it. the galley fight scene as well as the arena chariot race was just as good as the classic Ben Hur.

Esau is busy being yoked to numerous masters because he traded his inheritance for a bowl of soup. He doesn't have time to collapse babylon, yet.

33:33 A woman in a chariot race?? Its possible!...I av met strong spirited women who can do their work better than a weak willed man, even though the latter is twice the size

It's an advantage to be lighter in a horse or chariot. Racing it's clearly an advantage. In shooting or throwing a spear it's a mixed blessing: smaller arms have less range and power but she's a smaller target also. So it boils down to how rare horses and chariots are. If they are rare, use small men. If they are common, use small men AND women.
