Adam Rupps beatboxing talent on this one is everything! Did you catch him doing the airplane fly over at the end?! 😮 I heard that Lee Greenwood loved that he could do some ad libs on this version because there were other people holding down the melody and he could just go nuts on it! I love this version! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Adam is always phenomenal, but WOW he just freakin nails this! He holds that entire percussion line like there is no tomorrow! I loved the huge smile on your face at the end! God Bless The USA! And thank you to all of our veterans, current soldiers and those who will serve in the future! ❤
This really is an incredible arrangement of this song - even as a non-American it can't help but affect me. 😀 Adam's drumming was just incredible, and I loved the way they were able to tie the geography to the singers, Rob from Minnesota, the female sergeant from Nashville, Tennessee , Tim from Texas and Chance, originally from Alabama and now lives in California, from sea to shining sea. Shout out to her, by the way, her name is Technical Sgt. Nadia Sosnoski and she's an old friend of Tim's who came up with the idea of the USAF band collaborating with Home Free on this track. The Black alto was awesome as well, such a beautiful, deep voice.
*_I'm putting this here because YT shadow my top-posts due to opinions:_* Here's the deal about the following: the Republican party, Country Music, 'Patriotism' (and ESPECIALLY this song and Ford Trucks) and Evangelical 'Christianity'. All are alternative names for 'White Supremacy'. Country 'Music' hasn't been an art for over 40 years. It's part of a cult... that hates you. You're welcome!
@@charliecampbell6851 Took me most of 4 decades to figure it out, but yeah... American racism didn't go anywhere but 'underground'. It is the 'elephant in the room' that results in Trump (and the white obsession with Republicans dating back to when the Civil Rights Movement alienated them) 'Karens', pastimes like Civil War Re-enactments... and Evangelical 'Christianity' (is *definitely* white supremacist and runs completely counter to Christ's teachings).
Yes! Adam is the original beatboxer. He and his brother, Chris founded the group together in college in 2000. What you said about our freedom in this country, and how fortunate we are, and sometimes take for granted, are true! There are citizens of other countries who don’t even have running water, or clean water to drink. It’s a little sad that we need to be reminded with songs like this. I truly hope better for our country, and that we can all find a way to live in peace as Americans! Bless you, Dave! I love the way you think, and I loved your reaction!!
The part of your comment about no clean water struck me because of what is going on in Afghanistan. The US has its issues, but at least women can go to school without being afraid.
This country is all inclusive... White, Black, Mexican, American Indian, Asian... we r the melting pot.I'm a child of Irish from my Dad and Italian from my Mom... still a Mutt lol...just glad to be an American. Blessed to be an American.
I love your commentary about positivity my man. This song is powerful and heavy for me for many reasons. I love this country, despite it's faults, and it pains me to see its people so divided. As silly as it may sound, I've always felt that music can bridge gaps and bring people together like nothing else. I pray that this song can help bring a little bit of much needed healing to our country...as you said...one love!
Adam did the beatbox in both videos. The first video had his brother Chris (one of the 3 original founders of HF) in it who actually arranged this way back when. Then they just updated it for this video. I wish they would've added Chris in this one becuz it's such an incredible arrangement! That would've been so cool!
This is beautiful. I remember singing this song at karaoke every 4th of July. To see or hear anyone speak ill of our country breaks my heart. I love my country. I love my freedom. In other countries, as a woman, I’d be treated as property, wouldn’t be allowed an education, could get beat if I was sexually assaulted, and in some places could be forced to have “female circumcision.” I am free. I have rights. All legal citizens here do.
You didn't do the wrong one, both of them are so good and thank you for looking at both of them. You are a awesome reactor for doing that and I appreciate you.
Americans all of us. Good and bad it is still the greatest country in the world, just like people who make horrible mistakes in the past but grow as humans and are better for their trials, that is growth. God Bless
Amen (Navy 85-88) I am a 4th generation with 2 wounded warrior sons as 5th generation. We are honored to serve for the very reasons you described about America. God bless
I loved this version too. Everything you said about the singers and the arrangement also cool too. But thank you, thank you for sending out a thank you to the men and women serving without whom we couldn’t have the freedoms we have today. It’s such an easy thing to do, and we as a country need to thank our military more.
This is now my favorite rendition of this song. The AF singing Sargents add another level. I first heard this song when we landed in Dover Delaware on our way home after Dessert Shield/ Storm. We were the first US troops in country so we were ready to reunite with families at Ft. BRAGG, NC. Dover was an unwanted delay, until we got off the plane and were met by this song and more than 1,000 civilians welcoming us home. So this song holds a special spot in my heart. Well done guys.
This one always brings me to tears now matter which version is played. They are all wonderful. This, however, Is the best I've listened to. Thank you! ^_^
I love your reaction!!! Adam Rupp has been in Home Free since the beginning (the only one that can say that) & is such an extraordinary beatboxer!! I loved seeing the same hand-drumming that matched his sounds just like in the first video! And his fly-by whoosh at the end was awesome!! His older brother Chris did the original arrangement & was in the 2016 video, but when he left he was replaced by Chance & although both are the baritones most often, Chance has a fuller sound to his voice, so yes there has definitely been growth between the first video & this Then the extra voices with Lee & the Singing Sergeants just added such incredible depth & passion to this project! I think they chosen some great soloists from the Air Force Band (including Tim's friend Nadia, the blonde) & the idea came together wonderfully with Darren & the filming crew members to really celebrate the country. I've listened to this song more in the few days its been out than I've listened to Oh Canada (outside of school mornings) or Lee Greenwood's God Bless You Canada, ever. Be well Dave!
My heart always jumps out of my chest every time I hear this. You live in a beautiful part of the world, I am not sure most really understand the freedom they have alongside the pride that should be in every heart.
Very well said! We are all in this thing we call life, together. With the virus, that is attacking all Americans, we need each other more than ever! So, yes, GOD BLESS THE USA and ALL HER CITIZENS! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Dave, thank you for your expression of gratitude to our Veterans. Also, for your own families sacrifice. I too am so humbled by what is given and sacrificed. My father and grandfather WWII Army and Korean War Army. This song makes me cry every time I hear it.
I have goosebumps all over all my God this song is amazing God bless this country and God bless everyone we need to come together during the start time amazing video again Dave. Keep on doing what you’re doing, much love
There is a great video on Home Free's channel about the making of this video. It has great dialogue and scenes with everybody involved. The first female Sargeant who sang on the video joined the Air Force last year. She was selected through auditions that the Air Force Band Singing Sergeants held in Nashville to add a new female voice to the group. I just learned from reading another poster here that she was an old friend of Tim's and she suggested to Home Free that the Singing Sargeants collaborate with them on this version. That's so cool.
I love this version of this song!! There was a time where I couldn't listen to the original because I found out the original artist Lee Greenwood was a republican and our now former president used his song for some of his events. this version has really brought new life into this song for me. I especially love the ending just like you said Dave!
Loved this reaction, and you're so right it was a great representation, I'm not an American, but I feel for you guys, and everyone else that's suffering around the world. Bless you Dave stay safe, and be happy, we're all in this together....
I agree. This version much better than Lee Greenwood single. And perform with a lot of military, makes more meaning, touching, caring for our country. Thank you for posting. Trump 2020. KEEP AMERICA GREAT....
Great Reaction!! Hopefully this will help Unify our Country!! So Grateful to all those that protect our nation. It’s way to easy to take our Everyday life for granted!! Love Lee’s addition to his song God PLEASE Bless the USA !! How fortunate we are to enjoy our freedoms!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
If you haven't seen it, I suggest you watch HF's video of the making of this. It is fun to see some of what went into this super video. Am not American but have friends and family from coast to coast so can appreciate the emotions.
Fantastic reaction. I think most of us celebrated the inclusivity of this video, especially during these times. An amazing song, written by an amazing man and singer, and sung so well by everyone involved.
Though I'm not particularly a home free fan I find them absolutely beautifully talented, I'm just not really into country and I'm a Pentatonix girl. However I've known this song for years I remember when it came out and I believe it was during the Gulf war part 1. And it was very big and you could hear it being played almost everywhere. This version is stunning and I'm assuming it was during covid, so maybe the fact that we had to deal with, there was something good that came out of it and that's this version of this song. An excellent song and an excellent group, still prefer the og Acapella group Pentatonix tho. Lol but this was stunning. I'm from a military family and I give thanks to my dad and my grandfather and my uncles and my cousins and everybody who served, including those that didn't come home, those that did and remained in the military and those that left military, I get particular thanks to my uncle and my grandfather who participated in world war II. Both came home but suffered greatly and ended up drinking themselves to death because of the things they saw over there. And something that's also overlooked I also think the families who also had to serve when their husbands or wives or sisters or brothers are serving overseas. Because believe me families served too.
If you'd like to hear more from the Air Force Band, I would recommend their official rock band, Max Impact. UA-cam has videos of "American Airman", "Locked and Loaded", and "Send Me". "Locked and Loaded" is more heavy metal than the others. Some people have criticized the Air Force for spending "millions of dollars" on these videos, but it's far more likely that the units in the videos were already conducting training exercises, and the video crew shot video, and pieced it together to fit the music. Admittedly, the videos are something of a recruiting tool as well. The lead singer on "American Airman" is a black woman, and the Airmen in the video are very racially inclusive.
I don’t know if you had already watched it or not. But you should react to Home Free’s cover of Elvira featuring the Oak Ridge Boys. It is a very good arrangement and there are a lot of low notes

This version is lovely but less of a Patriotic feel in the vein of "God Bless America", or "America", or other traditionals. Harder to sing along with, but still beautiful.
What a beautiful and powerful voice the second girl has.
I'm a Desert Storm veteran, I cry every time I hear this version
Adam Rupps beatboxing talent on this one is everything!

As you said this version is epic! Lee is still singing great at 77!
This version is my favorite w/Mr Greenwood and the AF band!!! USAF MSgt (ret) 💙

The alto that came in from 'Detroit to Houston' has an amazing voice, kind of like wrapped up in warm velvet.

Their new song, The Driver, calls attention to that very thing.
There ya go. I've watched this at least 30 times now.
Me too!
Same. I’ve always loved this song, and this version is amazing.
About 50 times for me! They all knocked this out of the stratosphere! Lee Greenwood was beyond amazing!!

77 years old - Lee has still got it!! Thanks for this review.
Thank you for loving our country. We need to love the USA and make it better!

I had the same reaction when the black lady sang as you did. She’s got soul and it def came out in this song. This version is absolutely amazing.

Three months ago? How'd I miss this? Great job Dave.
That was great! ❤
Thank you,
We're definitely all in this together, man. Thanks for sayin' that. United we stand. Divided we fall.
Love your video as much as this new version of the song. Sending much love to you!
