I saw that you had another channel form your NorVegan videos (which I am a huge fan of btw. what you're doing for the online vegan community is huge.) its awesome to see you guitar playing passion. you're a beast.
I like the blacks on the Sony camera, the detail of the black box on the bottom right corner is more visible and its reflection is clearer than the Canon.
The Sony looks sharper to me but I think I prefer the Canon overall for the aperture - brings the focus on to you more. I may be slightly biased as I use a 600D to shoot my own videos... but the Sony seems to be a great buy either way. Awesome video man, amazing playing as always.
Agreed. In terms of pure quality the 600D is a better camera. It got a bigger sensor which is hard to beat for rx100's smaller sensor. But then again, the Sony fits right in my pocket, and the best camera is the one you got with you, right? That's why I got it after all, to have a camera I can casually bring with me without compromising too much on picture quality. Sony nails it with the rx100!
awesome cover! the Canon definitly carries more color and the depth of feild is a little sharper. I like the Canon a tiny bit more (bias really, being a Canon owner), but you can't go wrong with either camera. Sony kicks ass in quality though.
With the Sony camera you can see more details in the dark (if you look under your desk to the right under that box). I think the Sony Camera also give the picture more depth.
Great comparison. Sony beats the Canon hands down. RX10 with XAVC-S would be better than the RX100 III but then, you can't fit that camera in your pocket.
Main problem with canon is a bad codec with low bitrate, which makes video looks soapy. In terms of optics and sensor canon is better for video, but only with magic lantern firmware, which is complicated. As a camera for both photo and video i would recomend GH4)
The Sony can record in almost twice the bitrate, so that's cool. The Sony also got some features that Canon only put in their more expensive cameras, like focus peaking, which makes it easier to get the subject in focus because it's actually outlines with graphics what is in focus. The GH4 looks awesome, but I'm actually a bit more interested in the Sony a7s, especially after using the rx100 which I like very much. The dynamic range is of it just looks crazy! Maybe I'll sell all my Canon gear and switch over sometime.
***** i sold my 650d and bought Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. If you are interested in video postproduction you can achieve superior results, beter than both canon and sony, but again there are a lot of technical difficulties that you'll have to face with while switching. And ofcourse it doesn't have 120fps, because bitrate is just insane) But i like it) BTW, it's been a while since i've done your last video, so camera test is not exactly what we want to see and hear, if you know what i mean))
jay133666 Yeah, it was more a test for myself, to see if I could justify selling my Canon gear and only use the little Sony. Figured I might as well make a video of it. I've decided to keep them both though. Probably using the Canon for full shot and the Sony for close ups. Will make it easier to make video as I don't have to play everything over and over to get different angles you know.
Yeah I like the Sony better. Feels like it has more clarity and sharpness to it... Just my opinion though :) I hope you will put up some more cover vid's soon! Maybe you can do a cover of Animals as Leaders :) would be awesome, and I know you can do it justice!
I made a video comparing my two cameras. Which one do you think look better? Also testing out my new Blackouts from ***** which was recently installed in my white DC800 from Carvin Guitars! Line 6 POD x3 for added tone! ;P
First off, great skills on the guitar. I would say comparing the cameras in this would be a little tricky by the example. The higher aperture setting of the Sony lends to more of the shot being crisp and in focus by comparison. Also being not as zoomed in the Sony's composition of the video is more framed and pleasing to watch. And the Canon video has a bit of yellow tint to the whole thing.
Are the stock Carvin's actives? I've use the 6 string blackouts and love them, I just didn't know if the 8 string one was any different,or lacking in low end response or evenness compared to the 6/7 string part of the pickup. I love how they have the sound/dynamics of a great passive pup but the 'touch feel',evenness, response, and impact of an active. Love your vids and keep up the great work man!
I surely agree with everyone else that Sony looks way better. The video itself is a pure pleasure to watch: awesome music, very nice setup and powerful performance. You, sir, deserve more views, I say! :D
In this particular video I prefer the Sony. The Canon has stronger DoF and it feels like you're a bit more in focus on the Sony, which is important when fine details like guitar strings are the center point of the video.

Thanks man :)
i don't give a crap about the cameras, your playing is out of this planet!
Thanks pal :)

Haha them guitar playing faces :3 Gj btw one of my most fav songs, sounded like i was listening to it on iTunes, but with higher quality.
The Sony video looks way better in color, sharpness, dynamic range. I'm a Fuji shooter but I've been wanting to pick up one of these for traveling.
Good to see you're still making vids 6 some years later! Awesome, as usual.

The stiff wrist looks painful. But good job. I can't play the main riff for more than 50sec.
great cameras. beautiful axe! i would say you've been working on your right hand technique... well done bro!

flawless cover man :)
My videos are never flawless, but it's better than last time I tried to play it!
i like how the canon just focuses on you and blurs out the background a little bit

DOF is different because there are different apertures, it's hard to compare with different settings.
Not to mention different sized sensors.
Digger denne videoen, bra cover! :D
Surprisingly I prefer the crispness of the sony
How can you compare two cameras if you use different settings??? 2:11
f2.8 vs f1.8?????
ISO 250 vs 100???

I may be able to do it justice, but then I have to practice like crazy first, haha.
"YOU CAN DO IT!" - that guy from every single adam sandler movie...

I agree with John George. The Rx100 has focused everywhere! I believe it's all about the settings here :)
Wow, close names John Georgiou lol.
Sony wins hands down. I have 7d and just bought RX100 mk3. I'll be interested to see which I use more!
John George close names indeed, lol
How are you liking the blackouts? I'm thinking about getting some for my 8, the stock RGA8 pups are so lifeless-
Let me put it like this: I now want to swap the stock pickups in all my DC800's! ;p
Are the stock Carvin's actives? I've use the 6 string blackouts and love them, I just didn't know if the 8 string one was any different,or lacking in low end response or evenness compared to the 6/7 string part of the pickup. Yes, the stock pickups are active. The blackouts sound much tighter and more balanced in comparison IMO. I'll make a demo of them later some time :)
I surely agree with everyone else that Sony looks way better. The video itself is a pure pleasure to watch: awesome music, very nice setup and powerful performance. You, sir, deserve more views, I say! :D

I like more Sony Rx100 III
That's a huge compliment to the rx100 as it's a compact camera stacked up against a mighty DSLR! ;P
***** I do not know anything about this subject, just opining based on video. :)
this song hurts! ;)
Sony wins
