This is true man. I guess we are all learning together about what South Africa can offer 😂😂😂. SA born and raised but Earth Quakes are foreign to me. The only way I can understand this whole thing is through the Bible, (Earth quakes, rumours of war etc.). Anyway, I enjoyed this upload again. I needed something to cheer me up; yes, I laughed out loud 😂😂😂 Greetings everyone!
SA isn't sitting on a fault line or anything so the earthquakes aren't caused by "normal" reasons. It's due to the old mines where they sometimes collapse and cause a mini quake but it's a very rare event and it's never anything that causes serious damage like a fault line quake.
Don't be that scared. It happens once in a decade and in certain areas and often in small scales without any major structural damages to buildings or injuries/fatalities. It was my first experience here in my life time. We do track and report in advance weather extremes but earthquakes of this magnitudes can be unexpected. Enjoy your stay in this beautiful country ☺
Hey from Cali. I was in the BIG Northridge quake of 1994. The vid initially made me rethink my move to SA until I read the comments. It's reassuring to know that earthquakes are very rare. So, I'll be moving forward with my plans. Love the convo as usual 😎😎
Yes, I live probably about 10 km away from the area where these lovely people are staying, and I only heard about the tremor in the news. Never felt a thing.
I work remotely and will be spending a month in South Africa in November. My goal is to spend a week in Joburg, Durban, and Cape Town. My 24 age son still lives with us bc the apartments want income to be 3x the rent which is utterly ridiculous. The struggle is real. Thanks for sharing your life with us.
That's a good idea to talk to the government about African American please tell them you want to come back home it should not be the problem. It's very easy to the Europeans that's why they are sooo many here
Unfortunately the south African constitution will look at SA gov giving African Americans special treatment as unconstitutional and the DA and "other "people will run to the courts , the way the system is still benefits "old" money, it still brings different generations of "old" money to continue to do business with "old" south African money. African Americans not knowing that Africa is the now still benefits old systems. educating our brothers and sisters is the only way we overcome this. I had a chat with some business men at a bar and they talked about going out and purposefully trying to get Black American companies to invest in their business and the results was and I quote "it was like trying to get water out of a stone" . yet white American companies were coming to them, so they gave in .
I’m a South African I never experienced an earthquake the only thing I remember where earth tremors because of the mines I am very surprised that we have earthquakes
Earthquakes are rare here. However, in the last decade, experts have been concerned about the potential for tremors and quakes in Joburg [and Gauteng as a whole] owing to illegal mining in now derelict gold mines.
Glad y’all are still having a good time in SA and helping to pave the way for others 🙏🏽. After I moved to Houston, TX we had a freeze. Power went out for 5 days! It was 19 degrees Fahrenheit inside the house! 🥶
Hi Dr. Asad, we have never had a tremor like one on Sunday, the only tremors we have had in all my life is around 20-30yrs ago when mining blasts happened and those were nothing like the one on Sunday ... On the Visa issue, we should have a chat and look at the type of visa's you require, what you have to bear in mind is that if you apply for an "Financially Independent" residence permit you have to be financially independent and not become a burden to our already strained labor and support issues ... If I wanted to relocate to any country in the world, they too have their regulations and "Financial Independence" criteria to meet ...
i'm glad ya'll can laugh at some of ours pain lol. I currently do have to spend over $700 on a pair of tires and car ain't but maybe $1500 buts all i got to get me around right now lol. but soon im be outta here thank God. love you guys lol
That tremor got all of us shook and in prayer mode, the effets are hitting all of us different - it shook you back to medical bills in US. Love you family, very unusual activity that tremor, but given the history that we are all atop City of Gold - the ground speaks. Good idea with that Home Affairs initiative, perhaps also DIRCO. It would have been easier for the Ambassador to begin that conversation at DIRCO level ( bad-timing ) on the geopolitical front though.
This is Sherry from Lake Charles! Is that $700,000.00 US Dollars or SA Rands? I know you're specific, but I'm hoping you mean Rands! HA! HA! Thanks for the vlog. That was indeed lovely. Luv ya'll!
Trying to tell my black coworkers and family about SA especially Joburg how diverse it is. Bringing my husband to to take those blinders off his eyes that the white man has showed us what they want us to see. I love watching you and your wife. Educating ourselves is the key and an open mind will take us a long way.
A greeting in Zulu! Ya'll starting to speak the language!🤣 I moved from the West coast after feeling an earthquake; it's something you can't prepare for. My equilibrium was off for a few days after. Dude. Nope. SA and other countries (here as well) do a lot of "fracking" for oil and other natural resources, which can contribute to small seismic activity. A rarity in SA for sure! Praying for Stace and Red. Golden Nugget: "The struggle didn't teach me a damn thing, except that I don't want to struggle again". TRUE FACTS! Great video to kick my week off!
1st time in history we have such a heavy earthquake. Don't worry this is the holy land, the Promised Land, we don't get natural disasters. I'm in East Rand(Boksburg) it was something else, and the noise was scary.
No Siyabonga, it was not the first and not the worst. We had 3 in 2014, houses in Orkney got destroyed by the 5.5 one. The data is there. I am only mentioning 2014 because it happened during working hours and left us traumatised.
Through casual conversation with my Uber driver last month, I found out that there are occasional tremors here, so I was prepared. I moved here March 31st and after this earthquake I looked online at the earthquake report. There have been 13 earthquakes throughout South Africa since we got here March 31st! Most were light, so even South Africans don't know that this wasn't the first earthquake this year. I'm in Lonehill and it lasted about 20 to 25 seconds here, but being from Florida, that was long enough for me. I still love SA and I won't be alarmed next time. ❤
No this is something that doesn't even cross our minds . The last time I experienced this here, was back in 1979. When I worked in the mines we had siesmic events with very long intervals , so we're just as surprised by this
Earthquakes are not common in South Africa. This might have been a second one in 10 years and nothing ever get destroyed because it that quick. It is anomaly that is why none us of talk about it, similar to floods and landslides. These things shock us too, but the floods are becoming more common now.
I didn't know that the earth could roar. I live at the epicenter of it and the shaking lasted at least 20 seconds, and I could hear it move away still roaring. That was terrifying.
Another great vlog today 👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿 the struggle is real 😆😆 but seriously I really feel that it should be a easier way for us to be able to stay in South Africa 👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿
10:44 Your wife was right my brother, for the financially independent visa for South Africa you need a combination of assets (NET WORTH) that equal 700K or 12M Rand (cash in the bank, value of your home, investments, etc.) not just 700K liquid cash in the bank. So if your home is valued at 250K and your investments are 250K then all you need for liquid cash is 200K in the bank.
Personally I think that visas should be given to people who will invest in this country. $750k seems reasonable.we don't need just anybody, we have enough fabulous people.
I totally agree with a special visa for African American. I mean that's a lot to have in a bank account. They need to flexi the regulations, honestly. I felt so sorry for Stace and Red.
It was my first time feeling it fully like the last one we had, I was in bed, half sleeping, felt a vibration, and hadeda ibis (loud birds) at 2:38am and I didn't even leave my bed, I enjoyed the experience, other times I would be sleeping and be told it happened.
Brother Hasad i thought i was probably dreaming at the time it happened. But thanks bro for confirming what i told my family and they didn't believe me.
SA should look into supporting AAs. Ghana has tapped into the interest of Blacks wanting to invest and seeking pleasure. Digital nomad visas should be the way forward, but also lots of ppl make money from recurring real estate, so I am surprised it's not considered a via option for at least a 2 year visa, with the option to renew given economic status at the end of the term.
Man, we are just as shook & shocked...first time this ish happening in my 41yrs. Correct that couple dying from major jelly & super miserable. Ignore & carry on, wrong place for quite. ..welcome home Doc Nikki 😊. Look at our boi Asad mastering that greeting 🔥...
🤣🤣🤣🤣, in my 49yrs life in Jhb I think 4.8 on the Richter scale is really the highest, we are used to small stuff mainly linked to mining activities. That is why we did not tell you about it. But this one it also got me concerned that are we entering an earthquake era, God have mercy on us. On the SA immigration laws I agree with you 100%, it is in our interest to attract as many people with $ as possible and people with a general drive for business.
Thanks for the warning about earthquakes in SA. 😂 LOL!! I don’t know …but that might have been a “call beforehand.” You all be careful. Keep us informed. LOL!!
I was also surprised by the earth moving and I felt earthquake here in Pretoria around 2:30am😂. I live far from the epicenter so I heard a loud vibration like a huge plane and trucks for 20-30 seconds I thought it sounded weird but I didn't take it seriously. I only heard about in the morning 😂. It doesn't happen everyday or every month just mild tremors once in a while, at random times. It surprised all of us😂. There's nothing right about the struggle, also learnt how to negotiate prices because of the struggle. Thanks for the content Brother Asad👌🏾.
