Steel Frame is structurally very stable. If engineered and built correctly it will not budge.
    But!
Steel is a great conductor of heat, sound……it’s like living in a tin can. No thermal mass and very inefficient.
    Ducted aircon is a must.
If your a musician, get specialised audio grade gib.
Been living in ours for ten years, 99% steel. All window sills and architraves are aluminium with plastic joiners that cracked and fell apart. Aluminium was colour matched to the house.
All internal walls insulated as well.
No cracks in wall to ceiling joins, wall to wall, anywhere. Even after the years……
Would I build with it again………unsure. Extremely inefficient, the cost of heating and cooling is very high, 24/7 non stop. AirCon has not turned off in ten years.
But what is the alternative? Shit rotting Kiln Dried Timber.
Oh and we’re in Auckland so don’t have the extreme temperature fluctuations that you’d get in Australia. But would never consider living in one without AirCon. But this thing Will Not Rot.
