Ahahahaha loved the vid!!! Jim the Grinder!!! Hey it was your first 5x5 at 200 lbs and it will only get better each day I restarted a while back and lowered the weight , started using a narrower grip ( close grip ) with a one second pause at the bottom and this helped me tremendously I also take 90 seconds between sets . Keep the vids coming and congrats on sub 200 . I think i was your 2nd or 3 rd sub lol
You sure were, Dean! Haha! You subscribed back in the day when if I logged on and had another subscriber, I was thinking "oh wow. Really? A subscriber?" hahaha!
Still a good job! I feel your frustration on bench. Tore a tricep at a spartan race a few years ago. I was getting close to 400. Now it’s one week 315 is doable. Other weeks 135x5 is a struggle.
Oh no! Man, sorry to hear abou that torn tricep. But you were benching weight mere mortals can never dream about. At least you have that. Good luck in your continued training, because 315 is a heck of a bench!
Great job. I do 3 sets of 5 working sets per my Starting Strength program. I’m wondering if to much volume will hinder recovery/progress as weight goes up. I’m 58 and I can’t do the same volume I did 20 years ago but I can still get strong and maintain it at lower volume.
Oh man, I"m right in that boat with you. Pretty close to the same age. (54). I just find that a lot of times life gets in the way, so I don't need to program rest days. Haha! But I do USUALLY only work one muscle group a day. So, bench day, squat day, pullup / pulldown day, etc. Keep on lifting! We can get stronger well into our old age. Nothing better than knowing you're probably as strong as a lot of young guys! Cheers!
Hey Dean! How you been? Been super busy and haven't had a lot of new stuff come in. Probably only a few other equipment vids in the works. Still unsure what direction, if any, I will be taking the channel, but been super busy lately. Hope all is well!
Things are good here, garage Gym almost completed and nursing a grade 3 quad strain lol Gonna throw you a challenge......belt squats , an alternative to expensive machines Any ideas??? Cheers
Hi Dean! Yeah, gave this a lot of thought. I wanted to put up a site to review all the gear I'd been buying. (On a lot of this, there just aren't many reviews.) But all in all, I really have no interest in being a youtube personality. I really don't. I'll still put up review vids now and then. I just thought long and hard about whether I wanted this to go in a different direction, and ultimately, I really didn't. But thanks for checking in! You were with me from the start!
Ummm Jim, 500 subs !!!!! Really ?? Lol awesome . Yep been there from the start and enjoyed the vids . Thanks for posting them, was great to see an average joe/jim in the gym lol. Ill keep my eyes open for future vids. Keep pumping and take care.
Congrats on 200!
Thanks Brandon!
