*Love it! Keeps the room very **Fastly.Cool** . The manual states it comes with a year warranty and 5 year part replacement. The compressor makes the typical sound...small price to pay for AC.*

Only watched one minute in, grabbed a ladder and a phillips screwdriver and fixed the issue just by tightening the blade screws. Wish I would have known how easy the fix was years ago! Thanks Randys!

I did exactly as you said, tightening everything, but both fans - front room and bedroom - still squeaked. I checked Fan One again and as I moved the blade, I heard the squeak. I rocked the fan from side to side - more squeaks. The hanging ball was rubbing against its support. I eventually sprayed the two metal balls with Blaster Teflon dry lube - presto, quiet!

That just seems odd that tightening a couple of screws would fix a click, click, click. But, it worked! Thanks.

Our fan has a switch for the light and then another switch for the fan power and speed. The fan makes a roaring noise at every speed. (not a blade through the air noise, but an electric motor roar)
If I slide the speed switch through its range, you can hear the roaring noise change in pitch. (normally loudest as I pass through the mid point slowly)
The old fan made the exact same noise, so we replaced it thinking a bearing was bad. To our surprise, we have the same roaring noise issue with the new fan.
It is an old house with old wires and no ground wires, there is only one black and one white wire going to the switch box. The white wire is from a separate line from the black line. The switch has a black, a red and a red/white line to attach the wall lines to it. It had the black to black and the white to the red solid wire. The red/white wire is not connected to anything and the green ground is not connected (plastic box, so nothing to connect it to)
Also, the fan switch has an on/off switch and a slider to control the fan speed, in case this makes any difference.
It almost sounds like a motor that is trying to spin with not enough current or volts. (although the blades turn at a high speed)
The new fan is not a high-end one, (Hampton Bay $85) but I would like to think all new fans do not make this noise. It is loud enough to keep you from sleeping with it on.
Everything is tight, and spins freely. Everything mechanically looks fine. I believe this is definitely an electrical issue based on everything I have examined on it.
Any ideas on what may be overlooked?

Looks great, and with a brighter bulb installed that’s all the light you need. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxWF88GpljEn-0o34vtLFazEQ5h5Q33SjU As far as ease of installation- this was my first ceiling fan and it took about 3 hours because I had no idea what I was doing and also it’s helpful to have a second set of hands and a magnetic drill bit. Works great.

    Techy question for you.
Ceiling fan with 3 speeds on the pull switch hums when on.
Fitted a 4 speed and off wall switch, set the fan to fastest speed 3 and wall switch to slow 1 - and fan is humming significantly quieter with fan rotating at similar speed to original pull switch speed 1.
So what part of the fan electrics would cause pull switch Speed 1 (the speed normally used) to hum more than speed 3 ?

Wobble can also cause noise, in which case balancing kit can solve it (if it's the blades themselves that are out of balance).

One of my Emerson fans is having this problem... it doesn't make as much noise when it is on the fast speed. Also, the control hasn't worked for most of its life. I took the batteries out so it wouldn't act out. I hear beeps anyway but got used to it. There were a lot of beeps before the noise started. It drew me upstairs to check on it. It has on occasion changed speed and direction without any prompting. Twilight Zone!

It is funny they keep saying, contact a licensed electrician for assistance. If you are not comfortable doing electric, contact a licensed electrician. If you do the electrical, and it still doesn't work, contact a licensed electrician. The only reason DIYs do it themselves, is because licensed electricians are expensive. A licensed electrician isn't going to assist you, they will want to do it and give you the bill. They don't like getting calls from people looking for free advice. At least not anymore.
