Ok bro. I'm in that great state of Texas in my 70s and just met you. The magnetic intrigue has glued me to your creative expertise and now I'm addicted to your brand of mental poison. Thumbs up, subscribed and I'm taking a little break. Going to town for some popcorn and a fresh lime for my homebrew moonshine. Getting ready for the movie and another video watching you turn that overgrown jungle into the next American "Wonder of the World"🕌. Keep the videos coming.
I am glad you did try it. As I had dreamed that it might be a legitimate idea. Having cleared a bunch of brush around buildings I have some suggestions. Ryobi makes loppers and a big weed eater with a saw blade is your best bet. Cut what you can then use the excavator to pull it out and pile it up to burn. Mulching brush takes a lot of horse power and is dangerous about launching debris.
That contraption obviously needs a two stroke engine so a full tank of gas assures maximum catastrophic potential. An expanded metal operator guard would be a great idea on the front of the cage. This is great stuff!
@@betweenthesharksgarage Having survived more than one tornado up here in the great lakes, (look up Belvidere tornado 1967) I can tell you that sticks can be launched into the human body with regularity. You need to construct a service trailer, so you can move a welder/compressor oxyacetylene cutting gear etc between your properties Be a really intresting video ❤❤
@@betweenthesharksgarage no, but I've seen the knock off in pawn shops for a couple hundred bucks lol I thought about getting the walk behind string brush cutter whenever I decide on an excavator
Having the kill switch exposed it will kill the engine often cutting brush. I would put the mower in the other direction so you can drive up and then side swipe the brush with the excavator swing motor. Then you wont have to adjust the angle with the bucket every time you reach further in
I would think using the excavator to scrape the ground and pull the plants out by the roots (for the smaller stuff) would be a better option than just mulching them but I'm not against making something that just obliterates them. That's way more fun 🤣. Looking forward to what you come up with next!
You are not wrong in anyway…. This was sort of a test run… a proof of concept if you will. There are other parts of the property that will need obliteration before we can even find the root…. This was for funzies
I would run a wire from the excavator to a solenoid on the mover and have a remote killer..... Even better would be a little radiocontrolled "thingadingy" 😁
How about you try and put a motor on the bigger mower deck to make it look like that little mover. It will give you a lot more cutting area. Maybe put a bigger gas tank on it also. Love all the video's.
What in the Methhead Estates....? If you're serious about this... Maybe you should look at the blade system for a forestry mulcher. You need to take that blade off and put a knock away blade on. Even if you make it yourself with a disc on four pivot blades. You could also use a remote control actuator for an RC to work the throttle.
Why not weld a small plate to that frame, and use bolts with washers to attach to the mower, instead of welding? Seems way more futute proof. You can actually use the washers with some isolation to not male the mower hood rot out.
Should have just made a bar on the top in a frame and used the thumb to hold it . Then you don't have to use any tools . Just hook the teeth and hold it in with the thumb
but the bucket and thumb move independantly so it would be a dance to articulate it without dropping it ... this it goes where the bucket goes...and its two wrenches and two bolts... so not really taking up a lot of my day

A brush cutter is a different machine than a lawn mower. Hit one big limb and the shaft will crack. Brush cutters have rotating arms to protect the mechanism. While it’s entertaining, it’s sort of too much yahoo for me. I saw a lot of stuff in your shop. Two welders. Why not get serious about the job at hand and get the right tools. You’re half way there, half being the operative word.
if that's too much yahoo, this channel may not be for you lol but thanks for checking it out..... but look at it this way....as far as getting the right tools, a brush cutter either as an attachment or something like a dr walk behind is over $3,000, but this I made out of an abandoned lawn mower and scrap steel for 0 dollars and few hours ....that makes it the "right" tool for me. sure, better build brush cutters have a motor protector of some sort, some have flail arms like you suggest(and maybe we will build some some day if i can figure out how to balance them) , but the DR brush cutters just use a belt drive, they have a fixed blade just like my little home made version. At this point, i have put your theory into action, if you hit something big it doesnt crack anything, it stalls, same as if you hit a root while cutting the lawn... but it will cut through trees up to 1 1/4" .... and if i do eventually blow it up then oh well

Just a tip:
Put a heavy flywheel off of a 2-3hp horizontal engine on it.
It won't bog down or die near as easily.
Thats and interesting idea

Thas a good idea, I have not really explored the idea but some way to mobilize a shop would be very helpful
Excellent job Ryan
I appreciate that
an idea for that would be to do that with one of those DR brush mowers more power for the heavier stuff.
yea that would work like a dream but have you seen the prices on those things... they cost more than the excavator

Indeed

thanks man, I have thought about it. I was also looking into hydraulic motors to drive them ....something will happen they will not got to waste
It might not work so well if you tilt the mower seeing as though it siphons the gas out of the tank, but awesome invention!!
it will have a limit... but i have run some mowers up some pretty steep hills in my day... there is some room
@@betweenthesharksgarage there's only one way to find out
all push mowers have a brake, the cable pulls that lever that releases is, that why i was hard to turn when you put the switch instead of the pin
Ohhhhhhth. Thank you. I can “fix” that

You probably have rust on the magnet on the fly wheel and it needs to be cleaned off that's you are not getting any spark
🥴🤕 Red Green would be proud.
I would go electric or hydraulic so you don't blow up the mower motor at an angle
I am willing to risk it for now cause this rig only cost me a carburetor… I thought about he other routes but the investment was much larger
The tracks on your excavator are pretty loose.

That key can have a hairline crack in it. And “look” ok.
