i was pausing and paying attention to where he was putting his hands, this really Bob Ross'd it for me, best part i was doing the same exact thing with my piece as i saw the video. the difference in grip is amazing. this comment here is best description of what to do for good handling.
Lenny's grip demo was very helpful. I never realized I was gripping my weapon all wrong. When I tried it his way over several days, my control over my (Glock 19) has improved dramatically. I realize this is breaking a lifelong griping habit, so I will continue to practice. Awesome!

Small adjustment, huge results. After applying this technique my dry fire practice has gone from ok to virtually flawless. (I watched it 4 times) The front sight only moves when I want it too. The grip feel so effortlessly secure that even one handed there's barely any movement. I'm anticipating major improvements on my next visit to the range. Thanks!

Best grip video I have seen. And I have seen a bunch of them. The main hand beef being aligned with the bone and the spine of the frame is a great tip. Even a bit to the left, cheating. I was doing it all wrong - while trying to hold to a death grip, I had misplaced the butt of the hand way off the spine of the gun. Thank you so much.
That is a very good and clear explanation of how to grip a pistol. The information about the part of the hand to have the stock resting on reminds me of a video Jeff Cooper made in which he said to use that part of one's hand also. It certainly is better than having it in the crease of one's hand adjacent to the thenar eminence.

For 23 years I've moved the rear sight to the right, on a Glock. I watched this video, then put new sights on my G17, guess what? I no longer shoot to the left! Thanks for the video!!!!!

Perhaps mentioning a "push-pull" isometric between the strong hand and the support hand when pointing in would add further stability to this excellent grip presentation. I like the idea of 'pointing' with your thumbs so long as it is done in a manner that does not reduce the amount of under-frame grip support of the support hand. Thanks Lenny.
James Roache Push-pull is an attempt to use the grip of the pistol as a lever to fight recoil. The problem with this idea is that recoil is an energy, and energy follows the path of least resistance. If you use the push-pull, your firing hand is applying more resistance than your support hand, which will cause the gun to recoil up and toward your support side. By having even pressure on the sides of the grip by using your pec and deltoid muscles to apply inward pressure, the gun will recoil in a straight line.
Nice video! I pretty much use that grip on all of my handguns except my Glock! I have a Gen 3 Glock 20 and the grip is so big that in order to reach the trigger, the meaty part of my hand only makes it halfway around the backstrap. This isn't as big a deal with two-handed shooting as it is with shooting one handed, though. It kind of makes me favor my Beretta 92FS for carry rather than the potent 10mm Glock.
Thank you! I learned what you taught about my left hand from a CCW class I just took, but we were told to put the left thumb on top of the right thumb rather than leaving it on the left side pointing forward. Can you advise me which is a better thing to do with my left thumb? I was also taught that wrapping the fingers from the left hand around my right hand's fingers makes it so my gun does not pop up nearly as much when/after shooting! And wow, it feels MUCH better shooting that way! Again, thank you!
being a competition skeet and trap shooter and big hunter, I've never been able to shoot a glock or any handgun accurately at all I can't hit shit, and I really need to shoot accurately for my CHL
My Arex zero 1 shoots extremely accurate when I shoot carefully, and take my time to aim and control my trigger finger and things, but when I shoot fast, I can't hit a 12x12 target at 7 yard....

people with small hands should not follow his advice. I have shot my G17 for 8 years shooting low left because of this placement, a lady with a lot of instructor titles has a G19 had me move my hand over to what Lenny called incorrect position guess who now can hit dead on. Still will buy from GlockStore but people come in different sizes.
Once you get your one handed grip set and lined up with the bones in your arm how do you keep that alignment when you add the second hand and present the weapon? I find that my right wrist has to be bent when I lock out my arms and aim. Is that normal or am I doing something wrong?
The problem with your thoughts on grip position is the same thing on a golf grip. When you have big hands like you do, it is easy to place that meaty part where you demonstrate. Where I disagree with you, when you have small hands and short fingers the difference in size is huge
Ok, so should I lock elbows or not? I've seen a lot of people shooting with elbows bent, managing recoil during rapid shooting like a spring. It's obviously working for them but there is a lot of poeople reviving this techniqe, claiming it's incorrect. Any advices?
+TheCHris8726 Whateva works for ya, pal. Personally, I prefer to lock my elbows, but like I said, if your technique works for you, & not against you, then use it.

As a new shooter the tip about lining up the grip with your forearm bone was extremely helpful. Significantly helped reduce muzzle flip.
