Have put mine through the ringer been dunked just rinsed with bottle of water still kicking till this day and I bought when they first came out even brought in a Jack from the beach I own the curado to just my opinion I think the slx is better
I have over the years purchased all the upper Lews reels and wanted my wife to swap to bait cast and she wasn’t having it. Finally Bought my wife the SLXDC to get her swapped over to a bait cast reel. In no time she was hooked so bought her the Curado DC, they hold up great, fishing 8-9 days a month, we went a step further broke down and bought the myself Shimano Scropion, it’s the daddy of the DC reels and it’s a beast. Still love our Lews Hyper Mag, ProTi and lite reels but can’t say enough that Shimano has done well. Windy days the Hyper mag and other Lews just goes for a boat ride!
I love mine. Received it 2 years ago for Christmas. My first bait caster. Have grown to love it. The noise it makes when you casts, takes time to get used to. Tell people it’s worth it.
That's where I went to highschool lol. I just got the Curado DC and love it.
In the manual the spool tension is adjusted to just to take the side to side play out of the spool. No need to adjust for different lures like traditional baitcaster. Basically the electric brake does all the work.
Have two slx dc and a metanium dc. The meta has a little bit more sophisticated brake but both work awesomely.

I have both now for 2-3 years and love them both. I taken the SLX wade fishing a few times but I usually use the Curado when I wade and it works great with little maintenance. With out looking at them side by side I think the Curado is a little bit smaller than the SLX but would definitely recommend both!
my son saved up and bought one for his first baitcasters and it has lowered my stress levels by alot. He was able to get the hang of it quickly have to say for the novice it is amazing, definitely recommend it. thinking about going with the curado dc for me paired with a new custom rod.
We bought our son a SLX for Christmas 2020, it’s been a good reel. I can’t remember which model but it’s a 150 and has been pretty comparable to a Curado.
I was looking forward to this video. I’ve had an SLX DC for a couple years. It’s probably my favorite reel, even over that shiny fancy new Chronarch I just bought. I can throw it all day switching between light soft plastics and heavier tops and it doesn’t need any changes. I set the tension knob very light, just enough to take the side to side play out of the spool and let the DC braking handle the rest. I would very much like to see a comparison between the SLX and the Curado. I think Shimano needs to pick you up before they miss the boat. See what I did there?
I too have been using a DC for a couple of years and with Sufix 832 30 lb, I nearly spool it to the thin mono base layer with a Super Spook Jr and a tailwind. Into a headwind, I can safely punch a low penetrating cast 60-80 feet upwind. I love it and it’s a go-to on the Waterloo’s rods
Hey John. I’m running 20 pound Power Pro on mine without issue. I also haven’t needed to run a backing. The regular baitcasters seem to need the 30 pound.
@@jonparkoff thanx. The backing isn’t for any supply or assurance from getting spooled, it is just a traction base for attaching the braid. And I haven’t had an angry jack or big ugly spool me yet on braid.
I have that exact same set up only my laguna rod is 7 ft. I love it, it’s great all around
My dad bought one and I used it a few months. Overall, liked it, I felt it would be great for those learning to use baitcast. I felt the DC applied too much braking when I tried to “full send” downwind. My dad has also experienced some intermittent backlashes with it, we’re thinking the DC in ours might be acting up.
Great video and I have a Curado DC and had it for two years never cleaned it but also try not to dunk it lol… maybe one or two backlashes but yes comes out easily… I also bought the SLX DC as a back up real when wading but I just use the Curado DC pay the extra $100 for Curado it’s worth it. I use to use Lews but have not ever gone back
My son's loves my Metanium DCs. Great for beginners and kids
I’ve got the Scorpion DC and I love it. My favorite birthday present hands down. It is the Curado body but the Metanium internals. It is a shame it’s Japanese markets only. You should compare all of them in my opinion I’d love to see a comparison between the Japanese reels and US market reels.
I have both curado and slx. Curado is smoother but heavier. I prefer the slx.

The SLX DC and Curado DC run the same computer. The only difference is bearings and frame. The SLX DC is the better buy of the 2.

The bearing inside my tension control knob has accumulated rust and needs replacing but I’m lazy and usually just throw a drop of oil on it before a trip… one of these days I will get it replaced… and probably add another to my collection while it’s in the shop

What about the Metanium DC? Curious to see how the magnesium frame would hold up with the saltwater abuse a guide like yourself would put it through.
I fish a Shimano Core 50mg for 5 years, ever had problems with it, from marsh to the surf, just take care of it.
I’m running a Lews custom lite on a sarge customs wingman. Love the Lews. Thinking about one of these for the wife on a laguna tx wader. What ya think
Great review! I’ve had mine about year and love it but I don’t quite get the distance you are, wonder if I need to let the DC do its job more and let off the tension more or I’m running too heavy braid power pro 50#; or both?….what braid did you run in this video?
That’s 30 on it. When I was really sending it out there I had the DC on 1 and the spool pretty loose. It was definitely in “danger” mode. 😂
Can’t speak for the slx dc but I love my curado dc
Great review man, I like the reel but am cautiously optimistic to see how long it last with salt spray and after getting dunked..Think Cade will rock that thing, need to get him out there and win some more tournaments!
Mines been good for a couple years now. No complaints.

I got one for Father’s Day a year or so ago. I like it but it is dang heavy compared to my other Shimano reels and I can’t cast it any further than my non DC reels.
I can't give up my lews Ensore Caleb I can program mine and let it fly out there and I don't even have to put my thumb on the OG reels man that's what you got me started on and my

How easy was it to adjust the 1-4 wheel? I looked at this same reel and the wheel was extremely stiff and difficult to adjust.

I have a Corrado DC and a SLX DC. I like them both but it seems like the SLX cast braid better than the Corrado. Iv had several other people tell me the same thing.
I don’t have a clue as to why.

I have no complaints about eaither one of them.
The Corrado is a little heavier than most other reels of that size but not enough to change my mind about it. And it’s nice to be able to just turn around and cast into the wind without even having to think about it.
I would like to see what you come up with about casting the braid tho

I loved that reel for about a year but it locked up on me and I take pretty good care of all my equipment
