    This is outstanding, and right on time. I'm coaching a new team of 9U players. Some can throw....others, not so well. This will become their 'homework' assignment for this next week! Thanks Dan....

    I love the step by step tutorial! I help coach my 6 yr old grandson in Coach Pitch baseball and he has a powerful throw, but we watch and practice some drills I find on UA-cam. He is really awesome, and believe it or not, he's a switch hitter at 6 yrs old! He's left-handed, so sometimes it's hard for him to follow some other videos. I think it would be great if you could show a left-handed player alongside of you during step by steps. Thank you for putting out videos! I will look for more.

    Great video. I am trying to teach my nephew and I really needed a video he could continuously watch. The footwork was a major battle for him to grasp. I played ball through college but had an accident later in life that prevent me from doing the footwork so this video is clutch.

    I quit baseball 6 years ago. I’m 22 almost 23. I had completely forgotten how to throw until I saw this video. Recently, I hurt my shoulder badly due to throwing with terrible form. This video has helped me tremendously. As I’m healing and strengthening my shoulder with physical therapy, i will keep watching this over and over again so that I’ll be ready in the weeks to come. This video is awesome. It will prevent further injury and help me throw hard again. Thank you.

    Way to go Dude--people definitely neglect the glovearm action teaching. It actually determines the trunk motion, so failing to understand it is failing to understand trunk and shoulder motion. Cheers!

    Good vid Dan. You provide top notch info in all your vids. Even something as basic is throwing. Fundamentals are so important to building great players. I see kids with so much athletic ability that they get by not being sound fundamentally.

    Thank you for this! My 12 year old started little league this year and I’ve struggled with how to help him with his throwing (I never played as a kid). Breaking this down is going to be so helpful! This will definitely help me work with him at home on his mechanics.

    This is a great video! The thing I like that is not pointed out on many videos is where the chest should point when front foot lands. My kid was opening up his chest prematurely and arm was slinging out to the side just causing a mess of a throw. This is a great go to for the very basics. Thank you!

      I feel u man. Just got cut from my high school team bc of my fielding coach told me I’m the fastest on the team just couldn’t finish the plays (pass them back to infield accurately). I caught the ball supposed to throw to 2nd ball flies to 1st. I lost all my muscle memory & was gripping the ball way 2 hard. Didn’t mean to make this such a long reply but hey. Getting back to work going to a camp soon. Won’t getting cut over the simple things again. And I’m a great batter dawg just my fielding was not there. So much pressure 2 knowing how bad my friends also wanted me to make it. Feels like I let every1 down tbh

    If I want to throw further, should I add a few extra steps? Or is it unnecessary?

  • @Igbon5
    @Igbon5 2 роки тому

    Good simple breakdown. I might take my cricket ball outside tomorrow and give it a try. I have thrown a lot and played cricket as a fast (amateur (fast ish)) bowler but never tried to analyze my throwing action and sometimes it went like a rocket and other times it was embarrassing, despite being pretty fit and strong at the time I couldn't get good oomph and direction. Probably a few good coaching tips like yours would have helped a lot.
    Having said all that most coaching for these kinds of things emphasize good follow through. What do you think?

    • @DanBlewett
      @DanBlewett  2 роки тому

      follow through happens on its own. emphasizing it is unnecessary.

      I just watched an earlier video of yours titled '5 Unique Pitching Velocity Tips'.
      The fourth tip was 'having a really aggressive follow through'.
      If that is not emphasizing a follow through, I don't know what is.
      What have I missed?

    Any tips for a kid, who for the life of me, I cannot get to lift his elbow up from his ribs to throw? He's 12, so he understands the concept, but he throws with the ball close to his body and his elbow by his ribs. Outside of taping a super-light exercise ball to his underarm, I can't get him to change his mechanics. So what ends up happening is that he leans when he throws (head waaay over front foot) to produce velocity. Look, not all kids are baseball players, I know that, but for now, he's on my field and I want to help him to the best of my ability. Just need some help from perhaps someone who has seen this before.
