Good point about the three-finger grip. I had totally forgotten that I used to use that when my hands were small. Also, really cool shot with the monument in the background.
Could of used you in 1972 at 9years old pitching against the Reno National s your video is very informative thank you sir about too try and show my grandson how to pitch thank you
I stopped playing for 20 years and recently came back. Since i returned I have really struggled with my throwing. I tend to struggle more on short throws, especially during warm up when I am trying not to hurt my arm before it's warm. I throw it in the dirt a lot. Maybe I am thinking too much. Harder throws i seem to be able to throw better. I know I am capable as I used to play 3rd base and was fairly consistent throwing to 1st. Any tips?
Sounds like overthinking and trouble with the release point, a little bit like the yips. Hope you get it sorted out. I also took a 20 year break and suffer from it, though i think my rotator cuff weakness has something to do with it.
I don’t have any formula for it. I just had intense focus on hitting my spot while also throwing the crap out of it. Not everyone has the focus and body control to throw with control while also throwing at 99-100%. Work on your focus and intensity and feel where your arm and body are on each throw.
Well my humble opinion is: velocity increase can be obtained by start position, then apply high leg kick, if your right handed, your left leg raise is as high as possible, then push forward with the thigh and lean into the follow through so the entire mass of the body is moving forward, which your right arm/hand is cocked back behind your right shoulder and as your body is moving forward, the arm/hand are coming across and then pronating your wrist at the point of release. These techniques will increase accuracy over time. Have you tried to throw against a wall to see how often you hit a spot on the wall? I never had a pitching lesson, just a natural arm, but my accuracy was a little off, but I had high velocity. I never pegged any batter in the head either.
I see your 4-seam grip demonstrating the bight of the seam to the right for a right-handed thrower. For a right-handed thrower, if the bight is on the left, is the grip still considered a 4-seam? Thank you Coach.
I never played baseball to the point of learning any of this. Really cool to see now. Awesome tutorial! Thank ya coach
Glad you enjoyed it!

a teammate of mine in pro ball, an infielder, still threw with 3-fingers. it was weird but he was good.
I played a lot of baseball, but it's good to learn the basics!

Coach is always on it. Always not just helpful, but incredibly educational and informative at a level you won’t find pretty much anywhere else.
Thanks Tanner!
Thanks for a very informative video. Subscribed and followed 🤘

can you give us a tutorial on how you were able to gain velocity without losing accuracy pls

@@DanBlewett ok thank you I have been working but I feel like when I throw I know I can throw harder I just like idk if it my form or what
All you can do is keep putting in quality time. Work and focus for months and years.

makes no difference which way it is for either, just personal preference
Thanks Dan.
I'm 68 yo...and no one ever taught me baseball grips. Unbelievable, but it's true.
How do you find the grip when fielding
you just grab it and feel for it the best you can. sometimes you just grab and throw without getting a real grip.
Thanks
