First time seeing Liz. And I have to say, she knocked it out of the park!! Wonderful chemistry with the others. She brought unique opinions to the table; even putting some new games on my radar! She also has great timing; both with the comedic bits, as well as the game discussion! Well done!

Dice Tower: Thank you so much for making this!! Not only was it incredibly entertaining, but I really appreciate the panel including people who are passionate about this niche style within a niche hobby. Hope to see more solo thoughts/reviews from Liz, Mike and Zee in the future! 😊👍👍👍
I've gotta say - I'm liking Liz's list the best. Hostage Negotiator, Nemo's War, Sentinels! Spirit Island! best picks. I've been thinking about getting an Aeon's End big box for awhile. Hmm... makes me eager to crack some of those out right now!
Starting around #6(33:10) the drugs really started kicking in and they got all kinds of goofy. This is great banter and fun. It's why I like watching DT videos.
I am really loving the content so far this year. The Dice Tower has always had such a great sense of humor. Now the production value has leveled up and can be used to bring even more fun to these videos and streams. Wonderful stuff. Thanks!
Mike, thx for giving The City of Kings the love it deserves, and I'll be checking out that Outlive game. Zee, you seem to enjoy the light, quick and accessible which hits the spot for so many solo gamers. I simply enjoy watching your work on camera, just fun banter, always. And Liz, with you on MK. All. The. Way. No game I've played, in one sitting, gives me a more satisfying sense of progression. Not even close. Thanks for the great video, y'all were lots of fun to watch!
I noticed that too ! And they said in the video it actually wasn’t a solo game, but with the expansion it was. But then again, Zee also had a game which only was a solo game in the expansion.
Ah yes! Finally Mage Knight getting the love it deserves! When Liz started to say "This IS the best solo game ever!" I dared to hope she would say Mage Knight. :)
Liz you did great! Don't let Señor Garcia intimidate you: he's tough like jerky on the outside, but soft and gentle like a melted gummy bear on the inside.
Liz, I'm right there with you. MageKnight is my number one OF ALL TIME! LOTR LCG is number two for me so given your excellent taste I am hunting down a copy of Hoplomachus as I believe this was also Ricky Royal's number one as well.
Liz love that you gave some love to Thunderbolt Apache Leader!!! Amazing game and also in my top 10. Have you ever lost a pilot in a single die role? Brutal.
Great video. I am always glad when solo gaming gets more attention and it was great seeing the three of you together talking about it. Regarding other good solo games I would personally mention: Zombicide: Black Plague/Green Horde (you need to handle multiple characters, but it is very easy to do), Roll Player (simple automated opponent but it gives you a good sense of the game) and Runebound 3rd Edition (with the Unbreakable Bonds Expansion, my favorite solo adventure game). There are also several deck builders that include good solo modes like Thunderstone Advance, VENOM Assault (which I actually think works better solo) and Hero Realms (I know a lot of people find the Tibus solo mode simplistic, but I actually thinks makes a good job at simulating an automated opponent, perfect for a quick deckbuilding experience). Last but not least, also a deckbuilder of sorts, and probably my current favorite (with over 200 plays in the year or so since I have it) is Helionox: Deluxe Edition. A fantastic deckbuilder with a lot of innovations that gives you a lot of options each turn, great science fiction art and a simple to handle but very challenging automated opponent. Worth checking out.
@@isaacalien It adds a pick up and delivery element that allows you to get extra credits (only usable in the market) and illegal tech (very powerful cards that give you one negative point each time you use them and 3 negative points if you still have them by the end of the game), as well as cargo requests that give extra victory points. I also adds some new alternative locations and competitive and collaborative missions, as well as a revised solo mode. The pick up and delivery element is fantastic because it opens the game even more, allowing you to use any unused credit to get cargo and that cargo to get even more credits and illegal tech, which gives you more options as well as speeding your deck. It also introduces more things to pay attention to in the solo mode since any requests and missions you fail to complete, and any illegal tech still on the board will give points to the automated opponent.
YES Liz! Sentinels is so great. A lot of bookkeeping for sure but I've lost count how many times I've played this solo. So thematically rich. The only game I see making this fall for me is Champions
I hated Mage Knight. Tight. Restrictive. Shitty rulebooks. One of the biggest disappointments for me. Could have been a 9/10, but I give it a 5 because they "Agricolized it".
Good to See Nemo's War on one list, though for me that is maybe my number 1, but also City of Kings, which is another favorite of mine. Not surprised by Liz's pick of Mage Knight, that is also in my top solo games. Recently I have come across Machina Arcana which is a fun solo. Good to see Zee picking AH LCG, no list would complete without it. Strangely Raiders of the North Sea as a solo experience, my wife and I love the game, solo it is OK, but prefer it at 3-4 player counts. One game they missed, in my opinion, is Dawn of the Zeds should have been on someone's list.
Been waiting for this list for soooo long! Thanks so much for listening to the comments and for doing this video! So glad they brought in Liz, she was so funny and I loved that her choices were different.
Love the video! Some questions for Liz if she is reading - Have you played and do you enjoy Star Trek Frontiers? If so, would you ever choose to play it over Mage Knight?
As I just recently played these 2 back to back, hope it's ok to chime in. STF is a much easier play due to just a couple rules tweaks. MK is much tougher. I'd only play both with their respective big expansions as they greatly improve/deepen the solo experience. I'd always prefer MK. I like tough, I prefer the theme and it has quite a bit more little extra expansion stuff.
Thank you both for the replies! I initially learnt MK and then purchased STF for myself as I love the OP. I will be honest - I didn’t notice the rules tweeks between the two, do you remember what they are? I enjoyed the big box expansion for STF, even if the thematic excuses for including the ships that they did were a little thin
@@aj_8009 the 2 tweaks that really stuck out for me with STF were the XP for each tile explored and that you could attack most everything from an adjacent space. Not having to move onto the space you're attacking was the real game-changer for me, allowed for much stronger hands to attack with . I really liked the whole "beam down" to a planet and taking wounds vs. damage. That was fun and refreshing. :)
Thank Goodness for Liz! Top 6 Liz were great choices, especially Mage Knight! I'm a very different gamer than Mike and Zee. Clearly they want to setup a game, play it and move on. One of the biggest advantages of solo gaming is you can play bigger games, you can play campaign games. I'm really surprised (well not really considering their tastes), but I would have loved to see some bigger campaign type games like Too Many Bones, Middara, Kingdom Death:Monster, Gloomhaven, Sword & Sorcery, Shadows of Brimstone ...
Was thinking the same thing. Solo allows breaking up a big game into smaller time commitments which is a big reason I like solo. Even with a game like Spirit Island, I can leave it out and play a game making only a few turns here and there while doing other chores.
My favorite game to play solo is Wingspan. I just got the clockwork expansion for root, and I’m excited to play that. Also I think one of the best designed solo variantis viticulture. Because it has what a lot of the games you all listed has, which is a very simple turn structure. Very much feels like the regular game, and I like that.
Awesome energy here, loved this top ten. About the Sentinels vs Champions thing, I'm not sold on Champions yet. I like it, but it feels like Sentinels except you get decks that have less flavor. Maybe with more cards to do some deckbuilding it will be better, but base set is not flavorful or deep enough to dethrone Sentinels for me.
I solo game 80% of the time and enjoy a lot of the content I've come across from Liz Davidson. I'm almost 2 years late but this was a great panel discussion on solo games!
spirit island is easy to learn and to play in rules, but man it is sooo thinky think game, but i love it ;) i would not play solo with 3 or 4 spirits cause it would be a big headache
Thank you for representing the solo community. It really is diverse. For the interested, solo Euros are extremely popular, Uwe Rosenberg (Nusfjord is my favorite), Terraforming Mars, Viticulture, Teotihuacan are just a few of the many excellent options out there for those looking for a longer, but manageable solo game (45-90 mins).
Nemo’s war awesome solo experience in my top five solo games ...plus plenty of extras now available to give it even more interesting decision points ...
imho the ONLY way to play the game. On its release boardgamegeek had a flowchart so you could work out the should be simple but ultimately fiddly little rules...and all that shuffling in real life is a pain
Thank you for the stream, I enjoyed it and it looks like you guys had a great time as well. Thank you for cover solo games, these type of games mean a lot to me as well as coop. Also this is great for my games to buy via tracking on BBG. Thanks again, looking forward to the next stream : )
Great video. Loved having liz on here with Mike and getting their perspective, learned a lot about different games. I'm buying coffee roaster for instance. Also glad Zee keeps bringing up my bag Arkham horror lcg *hugs his deck boxes*
Raiders of the North Sea got a recreation on the switch that comes with a single player mode and its only 20$. It came out on all the consoles and there is cross-platform multiplayer if you want that as well.
I really appreciate the Liz, Mike, and Zee being knowledgeably about solo games. For some past top 10s, you could tell when one of the three guys was phoning it in, just because the topic wasn't for them (I don't blame them, but this new format is definitely stronger and just as funny).
Agree 100% with Liz. Mage Knight's complexity in rules and components adds a lot of depth and breadth to the experience and hence why other games have yet to reach heights as high. A solo conquest scenario session takes me about 3 hours including setup and shuffling all those component stacks.
Liz' comments on Thunderbolt Apache were right on. Especially that wargames are just games, nothing stopping you from getting in. It's essentially a tactical RPG.
Mike! You are the men man! After the top 40's, I was only hoping you'd maintain this energy. Really happy with what you bring to these videos! Haven't seen much of Liz, also happy with how you present yourself, create confidence.
My top games to play solo would be something like Gaia Project, Terraforming Mars, Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective, Wingspan, This War of Mine, Black Angel, Pandemic, Mage Knight and Viticulture i think. I just love Liz taste in games btw! Games that noone would name!
I am new to hobby boardgaming and I am getting into the solo games. Been neck deep in Arkham Horror for a few weeks now. Still have three characters I haven't played yet and the story has not gotten old for me yet. If I want to kill a few minutes I play Catan: The Dice Game and just try to beat my high score. It was such a solid buy for $9.99. Can't wait to try others. Thanks for all this content!
A major bummer: Looks like the Raiders of the North Sea Solo Variant is out of stock and Garphill has stated (on Facebook) they will not be reprinting it.
This was such an awesome top 10, didn't really know Liz but really enjoyed hearing about her choices! Definitely going to start watching her reviews now.
Hostage Negotiator is one of my go to games that I take it with me on the road. Like the different abductors and looking forward to the career expansion.

Won me over with the Thunderbolt Apache Leader pick. Love DVG's Leader series, but it seems many people doing Top 10 lists haven't tried them.

This one of the best DT videos I have seen in a while. They are really having fun and the opinions are diverse.
The Dice Tower knocked it out of the park, again. Like the Top 100 quartet this year, what a great show this was. Tom, you’re a networking genius!
I love Sentinels of the Multiverse although I've almost always played it via the app which takes care of all the book keeping.
I was waiting at the end of the video where it shows everyone's list, to show Tom's list: 1. Gloomhaven 2. Uno 3. Video Games
Mike, thx for giving The City of Kings the love it deserves, and I'll be checking out that Outlive game.
Zee, you seem to enjoy the light, quick and accessible which hits the spot for so many solo gamers. I simply enjoy watching your work on camera, just fun banter, always.

I'm glad to see my favorite game (Mage Knight) being mentioned in a top 10 list of the dice tower.
So nice to see Mage Knight get some love on a Dice Tower top 10!
hahaha Mike's #1 was removed and thrown away on his list at the end of video! hahaha
I noticed that too ! And they said in the video it actually wasn’t a solo game, but with the expansion it was. But then again, Zee also had a game which only was a solo game in the expansion.
As a solo gamer, I found this thoroughly entertaining. 😃

This was a great top ten. I'm loving the new personalities present, even though I miss Sam. Keep up the great new content, Dice Tower!
I noticed this in the chat and it was a good point. Top 10 Solo games... the day before Valentine's HAHA! Was that intentional?
My top 5 solo : wingspan, too many bones, scythe, gloomhaven, elder sign
Mage Knight is juste awesome. So great. I approve.

Chris Musix I sometimes don’t know how to respond to such staggering bad taste. ;)

Excellent episode, and some really great chemistry between the three!
This is by far the most fun I've had watching a Dice Tower top 10. Great tone and banter :D
The solo dream team!!
Tom really wants to step out of the solo closet. It's ok Tom to play alone. Ask Liz and Mike. Go #1PlayerGuild
James Brazeal I’m eager to share, even though that is counter-intuitive in solo gaming! It’s www.hiddenterritories.com Any thoughts?
It's about damn time Sentinels showed back up on a Dice Tower Top 10 list. It doesn't get nearly enough love considering how amazing the design is.
Bummed Too Many Bones didn’t make the list. That is my favorite longer solo game. At least Hoplomachus got some love, great game.
She hasn't played TMB enough. Trust me it will be on her list. I just gave her a guilt trip about it offline
Surprised 7th Continent didn’t make anyone’s list. I would say like Arkham LCG it’s very soloable and probably more interesting in solo play.
J M I still need to sink more time into it!
