I love the addition of Paula, she is so charismatic and fun. More please!
Paula was a great guest! She was extremely thoughtful about the constraints of this kind of list.
Thank you!
I disagree. It felt something was off. She didn't seem to get Zee and Tom humor.
@@DarkPaladin1130 Probably because the stream was off, there was a massive delay because of internet issues. Comcast! *shakes fist*
LOVE Paula! Great chemistry in this one!
Paula is literally one of the best comedians I've seen. and I'm not talking just BG related stuff
You made me remember when me and my (then girlfriend) wife were starting to play board games... We played A Game of Thrones the card game a lot, and I won’t ever forget when she cried one time I killed her Jaime Lannister... we now laugh at it, but that day was such a drama! 🤣🤣🤣 Of course, we’re still to this day mortal enemies whenever we play (which is at least once a week) and she throws it to my face every time she can. I love it!
Super wholesome story! :D
If Sam was here... 5 if them would be time played and 5 if them would be times played
Good ol Sam, bucking the System
you are so right
#6 twilight imperium time played
#1 blood rage times played
sorry to be off topic but does anyone know a method to get back into an instagram account?
I was dumb lost my password. I would love any tips you can give me
Love Paula's choice
Thoroughly enjoying the cross channel content. Paula is also fantastic on pair of dice Paradise.
hey, thank you so much!!
you can get the campaign book for Memoir 44 off of the days of wonder website for 15.00 its a pdf.
thank you!
This was fun. It would have only been better if they could have been together to play off each other. Well done Paula, love your stuff.
These guest appearances are working out great! 😀
I wonder if skype really is the best solution.
Tom, they added new rules for more players in No Thanks! I had a set, saw a new set was coming out that played more players, so I gave my set to my Mom, and when I got my new set, I discovered the deck did not change, only the rules in playing. So I did a head slap realizing I didn't need a new set, just the new rules. Even the BGG entry now says No Thanks! plays 2-7. And this has been for awhile, maybe 3 years.
More Paula please. She's great.
She was really good fun plus I love the cat. She should come back. And i'm afraid I didn't have a Scooby who she was. Sorry Paula.
@@WolfGratz well, that's okay! Glad you enjoyed it anyway and I guess maybe now you know?
I vote for more Paula too! :-) Very fun show.
Great Participation! Please invite Paula more often!!!
DeathByMonsters is one of my favourite podcasts. I definitely recommend checking it out. For me it is a perfect mix of childhood nostalgia and the kinds of questions adult me asks about all these crazy stories, and very funny. Not to mention the chemistry of the three hosts rivals that of another trio that fans of this channel know and love. Thanks for coming Paula
aw, thank you so much!!
Have you guys done a Top Ten List of "Games I Love but Can't Seem to Get to the Table"?
Awesome list as alway guys!!! Great chemistry with Paula too. I actually made this exact top 10 video myself not too long ago for my channel. Great minds think alike!
The Crew has wrapped up most of us older gamers that grew up playing trick taking games. Love it.
"Still question it fool! I'm giving you a low hanging fruit."
I don't know why this struck me as so funny, but I lost it. Thank you Zee.
Please downsize the header and footer to let me see the gang better. Have them rotate their camera to vertical (gasp) if necessary to fit better on the screen.
Ye, and get better isp next time. Paula lag turned me off
@@mienzillaz That's why this video chat format is terrible. The chemistry is worse, the timing is way worse, and the delays are unbearable. The perpetuation of this boogeyman covid farce needs to end.
I know it may be “old” for some, but my most played game is probably settlers of catan, all kinds, and including the “cities and knights” expansion. We played it a ton when it first came out, and every year after that we play it a couple of times a year. And I still enjoy it! It fits well into that genre of games that are easy to introduce to people new to the hobby.
Michael Goshorn catan is cooling now unfortunately...but cities and knights is my favorite expansion!! so dope!!
I played the 12 mission campaign in Hero Quest all the way through like 3 times when I was a kid. Did all the missions in all 4 expansions at least once each.
It was 14 quests :)
Goodness the delay... not sure if this was a Skype issue or UA-cam or ISP. Kept switching over to attempt to watch while packing and programming but maybe another solution would work? Tom's mask usage made it fun when I did look though!
Still many, many smiles and laughs though! Thank you each
Thanks Paula! Hopefully you can come back often!
Paula is always awesome! Great lists, guys!
Nice episode. Thanks people!
first time watching and I love it - thank you xx
No Thanks goes up to 7 players. Each player starts with fewer chips. Maybe it depends on the edition. It does get even more random, but still fun with the high count.
phooey, thought Paula would be officially joining Dice Tower. I enjoy her solo game playing videos a lot.
Memoir 44 Campaign book 1 is available as a download from Days of Wonder website (for a small fee)
ooooooooh !!!
Where can I find it? I just visited the website and all I found is the additional stuff to support the campaign book. I would be super grateful for any helpful hint you can provide. Thx!
In space.. as opposed to the one that takes place in Michigan.
Zee mentioned the Mitten! Hahaha.
My Mayfair/Amigo version of No thanks plays 3-7, which version plays up to 5?
Paula have you tried GW's Warcry?
Silvertower! Yeah! Tom and Zee look SHOCKED! lmfao
Bluff! I played that at university in Germany in the 1990ties when Zee was still in Kindergarden. lol
Great lists guys! Paula was a great guest for one of these! Btw the top 10 lists at the end of the video still say "exceptions to the rule", you maybe wanna change that. ;)
My cat is exactly like that whenever I am on a work call. Ignores me the rest of the time.
I'm trying to figure out if that cat is terrifyingly big, or if Paula is small. But it seems about half her size.
My wife and I have played Splendor over 500 times in the space of 14 months!!! - haven't played it for a good while now as I think 500+ was my limit :)
That is insane
What, I will never in my life play a game even a 100 times. That's a crazy high number, I would get so bored.
I have probably played 7 wonders 500 times. Nothing else comes close
500 is a large number. I'm sitting just shy of 100 plays. I've played Eldritch Horror 95 times now. Always ready to play more
I’ve easily played Magic well over 1,000 times...maybe several thousand. 24 years off and on and still counting!
I was late to the Imperial Settlers Bandwagon, and started with Empires of the North. I LOVE it and have all the expansions. It is on my Most Played List for sure, which makes me wonder. Should I go back and try the original Imperial considering how much I enjoy Empires.
I feel the same way Paula does about Betrayal. It was one of my gateway games, but I recognize the game as deeply flawed and have cooled on it substantially. (My other gateways were Arkham Horror (2nd ed.), Pandemic, and 7 Wonders.)
What Zee is saying about Dominion and its fanatical base hedging him out reminds me of my relationship with Magic: The Gathering. I enjoy playing the game casually, but the friends I used to play with got way too into playing it competitively. I can't keep up with them, nor do I want to sink that kind of time and money into it.
Some of these surprise me, but it more surprises me some of the games that don't show up. Star Realms, 7 Wonders, Castles of Burgundy I've played so so many time. Catan I dislike, but I've still played it way too many times. Surprised to see those and Carcassonne show up on no ones list.
But for me it's Keyforge. I've played at least 2000 games of Keyforge.
Zee is hilarious with his quick witted jokes and monotone voice. Does he have his own UA-cam channel? I need to subscribe.
1. Pente
2. Chess
3. Poker
4. Stratego
5. Monopoly
6. The Big Deal (1977)
7. Age Of War
8. Spades
9. Canasta
10. Backgammon
I'm pretty new to board games... some of my 10 most played board games are still in shrink wrap.
I have the Mayfair edition of No Thanks ... and it plays 3-7.
Troy Robinson How many chips does that version have?
@@peterterry7918 55 tokens. Which I believe is same as original. Normally with 3-5 players , you get 11 tokens. With 6, you only get 9 tokens, with 7, you only get 7 tokens. It still works well I think with 6 and 7. I've even played with 8 , by adding one of my own tokens to game (or could just have 6 tokens each. With 7 and 8 players I sometimes keep an extra card or two in the game deck. (Normally only have 24 of the 33 cards in game deck, after burying 9). So I sometimes only bury 7 or 8 ... when playing with 7 or 8 players. But I think it works well.
I've never played Dominion, and I've averted playing it for the same reasons Zee mentioned
Yeah Paula! I see you're getting around. ;) Please more.
;)
Paula Deming Have you tried Commander variant of Magic the Gathering? It’s a great casual format that has a lot of flair and flavor. Love your channel btw. The Little Kickstarter was so awesome! And the how to video! Great work!
20 times. I've played Wingspan over that many times just this month. Probably logged over a hundred games since December. Dominion probably over 20 just this month on the Dominion website.
I'm only counting the board games that I have played after I got hooked! If not, Clue would be #1!
10. Ascension
9. Camel Up
8. Sushi GO
7. Ghost Fighting Treasure Hunters
6. Lost Cities
5. Azul
4. Deception murder in Hong Kong
3. Dixit
2. Telestration
1. Mexican Train Dominos
Who's the dude on the left that keeps changing each turn? ;-)
You cracked me up Tom.
My list would be:
10. Memoir '44
9. Dominion
8. For Sale
7. Race for the Galaxy
6. Alfred Hitchcock's Why?
5. Risk
4. Magic the Gathering
3. Hearts
2. Jump Drive
1. Dungeons and Dragons
Maybe it's because I'm a video gamer first that got into board game later, Paula's choices all resonated with me. I'll admit, I was never a eurogame fan. I rather be playing a turn-based strategy game or real time strategy on PC instead.
Man. I have SUCH a crush on Paula and then at 5:26 she totally broke my heart. :) Love watching her content.
Bridge, Magic, and Through the Ages are all way up there for me, although some of that is online (but against other people, not AI). Dominion is pretty high as well, but no where near the others.
I did the math, and in the last 6 years, I've played at least 700 games of Yu-Gi-Oh. And that's just what I've played actually in tournaments.
I've been playing Yu-Gi-Oh fairly consistently since at least 2007, and was on and off whenever I had someone to play with before that since 2002.
So I'm not at all scared to say I've easily played 2000 games of Yu-Gi-Oh in my life.
I agree with Paula! Some games are fundamentally the same haha.
So nice to get a woman on this show! would love to see more of her
"a woman" ?? What are the other females that are regulars on D.T. ?
I haven't played Pandemic Legacy, but is it really as different as Zee/Tom seemed to make it out to be? I thought it was just pandemic but with the board state/cards changing each game?
My list would probably look something like this:
1. Yu-Gi-Oh by a landslide. Been playing my whole life. It would easily win both "times played" and "time played".
2. DC deck builder
3. Cards against humanity
4. Carcassonne
5. Avalon
6-10. Basic mass market stuff like Monopoly and clue.
I would love to play more board games more often, but finding people to play with is about impossible when you're a working adult. And I'm really not into the playing online thing, especially because my internet connection is terrible.
What rule was Tom playing wrong for No Thanks?
I just checked BGG to see what my most played game was (I already knew) and it is Magic the Gathering with 1,379 plays. (I only count paper Magic... nothing digital) I should note that I only started accurately logging my plays around five years ago and have been playing Magic since 1994, so I have no idea what the real number would be from then, but it definitely would remain my most played game over the years.
I'm sure I'd be shocked if there were some way to count up all the time I spent playing M:tG or building decks or doing related collecting stuff. But I keep playing, so I've got to think it's worth it, right?
Root and Expansion is badass worth a play through
[Root + Expansion, Axis and Allies, Crusader Kings board game, UnStable Unicorns, D+D E5,] I still play Munchkin but so early 2000's over, The Office Downsizing, Red +Green Apples to Apples, Warhammer is good but over priced to my card games usage, Bingo, Tarot cards, Poker Decks,
Oh Tom, you make me smile, you dork. :D
List= 6.5/10, Masks 9/10 - But half a dozen links in the description, and not one for Paula's website(s). Poor form....
More Paula.
also if you like Clue but want something deeper, try Awkward Guests.
Matthew Jude keeps telling me I should play this. Guess I'll have to try to get my hands on a copy!
have paula look up mystery of the abbey, such like clue! and maybe alchemists
Paula is great.
TOM: I dont like a game that's boring and to simple for me.
ALSO TOM: My #2 is Onitama
It's literally a Dice Tower Essential game. You might not like it, but Tom got his brand name on it.
I guess Tom just has an assortment of hats all around him off camera to choose from throughout the day.
who wears the Tom V mask, and when does it come of?
My Top 4
As a kid: Uno
As a Teen: Euchre/Risk
As a College Kid: Magic the Gathering/Risk
Now: Gin Rummy
The end lists says top 10 exceptions to the rule... 😬
Roy's working on getting himself fired.
they forgot to change it from the last video.;.that's what happens when you use the same template...
Hmmm, good thing we exclude "played as a kid" or my winner would be Ludo, hands down. It was the only game my folks wanted to play with us
What rule did Tom get wrong in No Thanks?
MinotaurLizards that whoever takes the stack gets to go again, or if you move clockwise to the next player.
For a Top 10 without Sam Twilight Imperium has been mentioned A LOT :)
Love Paula :)
I am very surprised tom didnt list Puerto Rico. He has stated he has played it a ton In the past.
arent all the masks from episodes of scooby doo?
Zee's mask was the best!
Sagrada be my most played game, my parents love it.
That's my Lost Cities picture!
Lol. They used my SPADES picture. It's awesome!
Paula was great. I wanted to tell her that if she likes clue minus the rolling she should check out Sleuth
Thanks, I'll check it out!
We haven't played Clue once since we found "Clue the card game" it's clue without the annoying rolling
Fun fact, if you play this at 1.25x speed, Zee talks the exact same way he usually does.
Graphic still says "exception to the rule"
Ticket To Ride is what Monopoly was, and then Catan, and better than both, surely better than Monopoly is because almost everything is, but even Catan, since it plays faster, faster to set up, faster to explain, not as difficult, but still great fun, though i would add the extra destination expansions if you can, and just about any version is great.
And i don't mind lumping those together at all.
I have grown beyond the US mostly, i'd go Europe and up just to add a bit of extra mechanic such as tunnels etc.
Modern boardgamers are jealous of Monopolys continued success tbh
Surprised zee without alot of classics. And without Arkham horror! And I'm surprised cosmic was so low for tom
Werepyre. When the full moon is out you become a really large fire!
Hm... my top 10 is probably (including digital adaptations):
1) Magic: The Gathering
2) Dominion
3) The Resistance
4) Catan
5) Hearts
6) Texas Hold'em
7) Big 2
8) Baldurdash
9) Bohnanza
10) Munchkin
LOVE Death by Monsters!
:)
I thought Tom would've had Marvel Legendary on his list.
Would love if you guys could re-edit this video and sync up Paula's video & sound
My most played game must be Sentinels of the Multiverse. I just love that game, I must have played over 500 times.
Top 10 Lists at the end said Top 10 Exceptions
You should have Paula back for a Top 10 list. Although it would be better if she was in-synch, haha. And how about trying a 2x2 grid. I feel like you are wasting 75% of the space.
Unexpectedly, Can't Stop just shot to #1 on my list with 60+ games in the last month alone. I taught it to my game group with with incorrect rules, which made it a very meh game. We decided to try it on Board Game Arena and OMG! Now that we are playing by the rules, turns are snappy and we really Can't Stop...
Zeee where is Neuroshima HEX???????? @Zee Garcia...?
Where are Mike and Roy?
Secret Cabal termed most played games as "convenient" though good, but not your favorite. Similar what you all were discussing around the #9 mark of the list.
Paula is the (Pam from "The Office") gamer.
I am surprised Tom didn't say Marvel Legendary
Betrayal has so many flaws.
I have probably more then 50% of games that are just a miserable grinde.
To much chance last game I played I flip 4 bad tiles in a row and to decreases my stats by a lot And then to top it off the batteries died in my flash light and I could only move one tile then the traitor came into play and came to kill me so I tried to run and had to flip a new tile and that tile killed me.
