One of the best songs ever. Had the privilege of seeing Brian Wilson sing this backed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl. Pure magic.
I can't imagine being a teenager cruising around in a giant bel air or t-bird or something with the chrome and fins and soft bench seat etc in California with the beach boys and beatles dropping hit after hit on the radio..must have been amazing.

Hey bro! Been watching for a few months now! Love the videos! I definitely recommend listening to the song "Wouldn't It Be Nice" by The Beach Boys, and listen to it without the music. You really just hear their vocals and how many things they are doing with them in the harmonies. It's incredible! Hope you have a great week!:)
The fact that a 22 yr old Brian Wilson wrote one of the most incredible arrangements of all time. And a 19 yr old Carl Wilson sung one of the most beautiful songs ever...... Thats insane talent!!!! Pleas also don forget Tony Asher. He helped write some of the best lyrics ever!!!
4-track tape recorder... no digital effects... no samples... all real instruments... tempo blocks... no pitch correction... no vulgar language... no sexual content... no violence... real strings (not synth)... sung by brother Carl Wilson... all real and positive. The name Beach Boys doesn't really define what they were. They started that way... but went 60 years ahead in time. Many have tried to copy this sound unsuccessfully. This song comes from the #1 rated album by man publications. Pet Sounds. Rolling Stone has it at #2 behind Marvin Gaye's 'What's Goin On.'
@@barbarawebb7185 I dont even know what religion Brian Wilson grew up with. I just know the song sounds like Catholic harmonies. It's very arranged and angelic. Lots of high notes.
Wait till you hear the stuff off the SMiLE Sessions. Brian took everything he learned and cranked it up to 100!. It blows Sgt peppers out the water but i didn't release in 1967 (rerecorded in 2004 and the original sessions came out in 2011). It was the white whale of albums that never came out (Aside from bootlegs which date back to 1983).
Not my favorite kind of music but in small doses the Beach Boys created well crafted songs with layers upon layers. Try Don't Worry Baby next. And for the Love of God, please do not react to Wagakki. All of the clones already have, don't do it. Stick to your own path Grasshopper.
5 part harmony. Don't hear many groups doing that. I read that Paul McCartney said it was one of his favorite songs. High praise, indeed. Thanks.
And only 3 members of the group sang on this. Carl Wilson lead, Brother Brian Wilson, and Bruce Johnston.
McCartney actually said that it's the greatest song ever written.
@@buzz71544 Thanks for that! Guess it was even higher praise than I was aware of! Thanks, again!
@@lindapat23 ... Al Jardine did a few of the 'God Only Knows' answers at the end. But you're right about Mike not being involved.

Those melodies are stellar!
I think you’d really like Don’t worry baby by The Beach Boys.

This album was a huge inspiration to the Beatles. Great song and great react.
Actually Pet Sounds was Brian Wilson’s response to and inspired by Rubber Soul.
@@toot0913 you are correct.
Read that this song inspired Paul in co-writing Here, There, and Everywhere

The only real American musical genius in the past 60 years. The incomparable Brian WIlson. Making brilliant music until just a few years ago.

Love it! 😍
Brian Wilson often said his influence of this song was religious ("God Only Knows")
I think the Catholic, choir-like harmonies, are very evident.
Brian is Protestant, not Catholic.
