Excellent installation video. Much better than the OEM installation videos. On my 2022 M3 MIC, the wires are Purple, Brownish/redish, and Gray coloured. I tapped into the Red & Gray wires... had to used a-lot force with a pair of pliers to help the connector pierce and tap the wires.
I just bought this. How do you install the tap wire? Does it cut the existing wires? I don’t want to cut any original wires at all. My strip didn’t come with any instructions nor are any videos like these but you skipped the most important part 😭
I'm not 100% sure but you can unplug the cable from the button and then use a multimeter to check which two pins have 12v across them, that'll tell you which wires to tap.
@@wonked Oh ok so I don’t need to worry or do anything ? Should I remove the strip light while I’m waiting for it to fix itself? I followed your instructions (great one) and before I finalized the wires the light and strips were working so I know I connected correctly. It just when I was about to crimp the wires the button light went out. Was thinking I trip the wires and need to replace the fuse
@@jonathanperez7096 If you press the frunk release button does the light turn back on? It's possible that it just timed out. If pressing the button doesn't turn the light back on then it's the efuse that's tripped. I would wait for the car to sleep ~10-15 minutes of inactivity. If the light still doesn't turn on after sleep then I would remove the light strip, let it sleep again and confirm if the frunk release button's light turns on or not.
Frunk button light does not turn on when I press the button. I think it’s safe to say I’ve tripped the wires. So since I’ve trip the wires, the light should come back on once car reboots self? Should I be worried if the light doesn’t come back on?

You didn’t show us how you tapped the wire in the original cable….

Bought mine from AliExpress but the connector was not in the package! Contacting the seller to ask
Great job man
Much wow 👌
Can i install this on a byd?
Thanks for the video, DO they run all the time or when you open the frunk only?
They only run when the frunk is open.
Where do I get this connector? I ordered this off AliExpress and didn’t come with the connector
No cutting the original wire? That “T-shape” clip is original?
The T shaped clip is not original, it comes with the kit and is a wire tap to allow the light strip to get power from the frunk button.
If I have the purple yellow and grey, do you know which is positive and negative?
I'm not 100% sure but you can unplug the cable from the button and then use a multimeter to check which two pins have 12v across them, that'll tell you which wires to tap.
Does 2018 Tesla model 3 have fuses? I tried installing this frunk strip lights and I think I might of blown a fuse. My frunk button light stop working
It has efuses. Don't worry I've done that before as well, it will reset when the car goes to sleep (HV battery disconnects).

I would only be worried if you've reverted all your changes and the light still doesn't come on after the car has slept.
A brilliant installation!
Nice.
How long did it take for the delivery? (canada)
Not sure about Canada, but any time I order anything from AliExpress, I assume at least one month shipping time.
