I used a "Timber Bell" for the first time on a couple of gravel rides over the weekend (up here in North East England) - it seemed to make a big difference (mostly because it's so annoying 🤪).

Will have to check those out😂 My bell isn’t always audible if the wind’s blowing in the wrong direction.

Love your videos but I can’t do this adventure stuff I’ve got to know where I’m going everything planned, but I’m like that with everything 🚴‍♂️🤣

I think on a patch like Clumber Park, it’s a pretty small area when you’re on a bike, so you’re never going to end up in the middle of nowhere without being able to find your way back. I’d be much more organised if I was somewhere remote and unfamiliar. I also always have my phone and some money, so worst case scenario, I have to get a taxi😂

The best advice I can give is to not be shy about projecting your voice whilst out riding and give people of time to sort their shit out. And if they can't, no pointing fretting about it, just raises your blood levels unnecessarily - expand that energy instead of propelling yourself up the next hill.

In very crowded areas, I tend to just take my time and pick my way through, and i do give a shout of “coming by on your right” etc if they’re not shifting with the bell, but there’s that many folk these days with headphones in, especially on cycle/ multi use tracks that saunter up the middle of the path with no clue what’s going on around them, that sometimes you just have to say, fuck it, and fly by. You really see the most stupid of humanity when travelling by bike! I try to be as courteous as possible at all times, but it’s often not reciprocated, which is really frustrating.

I agree that selfish dog walkers can spoil a good gravel ride. The ones that say loudly "ooh watch out Fido, here comes a cyclist " when they blatantly mean "don’t scare my precious mutt" are laughable. It is easier on the road sometimes, unless you have to deal with the new wave of runners who run in the road in preference to a perfectly good pavement! Rant over. 😊Good video again, thank you.

I agree with you about people with dogs I once came round a bend and this idiot was one side of the road and the dog was on the other side of the road on on of those totally useless expendable lead’s luckily I stopped in time but the air was blue 🤣

There was plenty of that going on! Those leads can be a nightmare. I only ever use them with my two if we’re off piste so they can have a bit of freedom to sniff around. Can’t let them off fully as they have poor recall and one has chase aggression, but the rest of the time they’re walking to heal and I’m constantly checking for cyclists coming past me as the road just off my street has a bike path along it. I’m terrified a bike might run into one of them if they drift out from me. Can’t understand people that just let theirs wander all over the shop when it’s so busy!
