Hot humid summers, yes to tornadoes, winters are cold and snowy but humid. No dry powedery snow of colorado here, just good snowman building snow. It's relatively inexpensive compared to many areas, but it's still a big city cost-wise.
Some clarifications It's not the "science center." It's "Science City." Primarily it hosts traveling exhibits that feature historic cultural artifacts like Stonehenge, and the inventions of DaVinci. Currently the exhibit is about the Mayan Culture. Oh, and you can find a free parking spot within walking distance, or travel there on the free public transportaion on the streetcars, and buses. All large cities have areas that are "sketchy," but, not to say it doesn't happen, in my entire life here, I don't personally know anyone who was "mugged," and I grew up in what many would call a "sketchy" part of town. The first statue shown is "The Pioneer Mother," a depiction of homesteaders heading west to seek a new life. Kansas City's most iconic statue is "The Scout" depicting a Native American on horseback overlooking the confluence of the Kansas River ("The Kaw"), and the Missouri River ("Big Muddy"). It's visible across the valley to the southwest from the Liberty Memorial (what the WW I Museum has been called locally since it was contructed.) LOL. I don't know anyone who has toured the Federal Reserve Bank on the site adjacent to Liberty Memorial that used to be the site of a Catholic hospital. Kansas City has the tallest City Hall in the country. The observation deck would be the 30th floor. It is a great place from which to see the city's expanse as it towers above the disected plateau, and valleys where the city was built. The T-Mobile Center (formerly Sprint Center before the corporate merger) is not a "stadium", but an arena built primarily for basketball. Within it is the College Basketball Hall of Fame with a fan experience section. It also has become a primary concert venue for people who care less about sound quality than just being there. The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts is within site of the arena, and is built for acoustics, not public address systems through loudspeakers. The Plaza whose archetecture led to KC being a sister city with Seville, Spain is adjacent to what's known as Kansas City's cultural center; within walking distance of the Nelson Art Gallery, Midwest Research Institute, the Stowers Cancer Research Center, Murial Kauffman Botanical Garden, and University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). The Plaza is traditionally a spectacle of lights during the Holidays with all of the buildings outlined. The lighting ceremony each Thanksgiving Night is a big todo with live music, and a local celebrity throwing the switch. For BBQ, besides Gates and Bryants, there's L.C.'s, Big T's, Smoke Stack (aka Fiorella's Jack Stack), Joe's KC, and numerous Craft BBQ places. If you want to hear some good local Blues with your BBQ, check out for one, BB''s Lawnside BBQ on 85th street. The 18th and Vine District was the focal point of Jazz in Kansas City; where Charlie Parker would sneak into the balcony as a youngster, and listen to the old-timers play. It includes both the Jazz Museum, and the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, and adjacent to it is a Baseball Academy that serves urban youth with coaching by former and current professional baseball players. KC also has a world class zoological garden in Swope Park, one of the largest (I believe 2nd largest after Central Park in NY) municipal parks in the country. Besides the Zoo, there are two golf courses, the Swope Memorial course designed by A.W. Tillinghast, "Lake of the Woods," that is overlooked by Youth Camp facility with cabins, mess hall, etc., Swope Soccer village with a training facility that will host some of the International teams that come to town for the next World Cup, a free Nature Center that houses and rehabilitates injured wildlife (The raptor birds there are magnificent; eagles, falcons, hawks and owls, and the fattest Timber Rattlesnake I've ever seen is scary.), a large community center, and Starlight Theater, an outdoor amphiteather that hosts everything from Broadway Musicals to Rock Concerts. And if you want to venture into the adjacent cities like Independence, Mo, there's for instance the Harry S Truman Library, and Bess Truman's house, and the RLDS auditorium complex where Joseph Smith claimed is the site of the "2nd Coming."
Most are accessible by the streetcar, although the stops aren't always directly in front of where you'd want to stop. As far as one day, it would be a long day but yes, it is possible.

😮😮😮
😂😂😂😂😂
Oh man, why does Gates BBQ pop up everywhere? The food is so salty, fatty, and cold! *Shudder* there are dozens of better bbq in the area, including Jack Stack, The Filling Station in Lee's Summit, and BB's Lawnside, to name our favorite 3!
Oh, haha! Asterisks don't work in comments...
Thanks for recommending some better BBQ places! I just recommended it from word-of-mouth type thing, but haven't actually tried it myself 😬 I'm sure others will find your comment helpful as well! Thanks Lydia! 😁
KC has the Negro Baseball museum which is interesting.
It also has negros unfortunately
If you come back try Big T's BBQ!!!
Ok I'll keep that in mind! Thanks! 🙂
Number one best thing to do in Kansas City should have been attending a CHIEFS game
Jack Stacks and Q39 beats Gates and Arthur’s by miles in terms of BBQ joints.
❤️
wow, you are really pretty. Greetings from Finland
I recommend Mexican Americans to move to the Kansas City area. 30% of the KC metro is Mexican American. It’s affordable
Recomiendo a los Mexicoamericanos que se muden al área de Kansas City. El 30% del metro de KC es Mexicano-estadounidense. es asequible
If you dont want it to be sketchy dont visit the bad parts?
Go to like worlds of fun pr something
Keep driving
Hi I live here
Beware of the P&L district. Highest sales taxes in the metro area , unless you want to spend money
Is it just for P&L? I went to Bartle Hall for Planet Comicon in 2022, and no sales tax was added for anything. Is it baked in?
How sketchy is kanas city ?
There's some sketchy parts, but definitely not alllll of KC is sketchy. Just keep aware of you're surroundings
Im only here to see those eyes
In Alabama I went to the World War One Museum
Rank City Murders per 100,000
1st St. Louis, MO 88.1
19th Kansas City, MO 35.2
Japan 0.3, China and Italy 0.5
kcmo is full of crime and poverty. It’s your typical “central city” but with low density. Most the jobs, economy, wealth and density are in Johnson county Kansas now in the southwest corner of the area due to decades of white flight and urban decay. This can easily be statistically proven
Luckily constitutional carry is legal in KCMO so that makes the sketchy areas a little more pleasant
However knives over 4” blade must be open carried if you put that knife in your pocket that’s a felony
It’s funny how people visit KC and go to places us native Kansas Citians won’t even go to 😂
Lol that’s probably so very true!
Where do you all go to?
Arthur bryants quality has declined since their lifelong pitmaster left to start his own bbq place in st louis. Now, joes and gates are probably the best
Thanks for the BBQ recommendation, Crash!
No Nelson Atkins Art Museum?! Shame.
Where are the people? Seems to be a countrywide thing. No folks anywhere.
Gates barbeque has changed over the years and in my opinion not as good as 40 years ago
Gates is OK, but Bryant's is just nasty. IMO, anyway. Find a Smokehouse BBQ - they are awesome!
I am bangladehh Man, Can I go to Kansas for your Invite
gate for tourst
Здравствуйте Друзья, Рекомендую Вам изучить книги Рика Джойнера, Бог любит Вас ❤️

That band playing on stage, do they play Christian Music/Religion Music?
The band is called The Gray Havens and they call themselves "American Christian folk pop husband and wife duo"
Ur so cute 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Thanks for stopping by. Now that you have visited, you are FREE FROM COMING AGAIN. Hope your band doesn't come back either to make you have to decide.
