@@Bloodartist yes you guys are right. But i only found out about the roll from the game i think after i repeatedly burned to death. The game says tap & elsewhere it says hold down IMO. This is really an indication that they don't listen to customer feedback. i want to tell them the centaur Ainigmata Ostraka directions are terrible but there's probably no point trying.
while i agree and use this method myself, it does have an inherent danger when you come up to a cluster of them. given how one attack takes off a guaranteed third of your health, if you mis-time your swings you're dead
You can tap the lock on toggle and you'll get an idea of how many snakes are in a dark room by thumbing the toggle to scroll through enemies. Then target them with the explosive arrow and set multiple snakes on fire
I am absolutely blown away with how good this game was. I had given up on this series years ago, I'm glad I let my love of Ancient Greece give them one more chance, what a turn around for a series!
What was good about it? It's the least Assassin-y Creed-y game in the series and the entire core concept of the game fails. I can't count how many times I've broken stealth because an enemy on the other side of a wall, building, or tent broke the rule of line of sight and alerted the entire area to me. All the skill in the world can't keep you undetected when those things happen. That's why I loved the older AC games and Ghost of Tsushima, if you know what you're doing, it's smooth and you'll never be detected. Whereas with Origins and so on, you just kind of get unlucky with enemy alert meters filling instantly or spotting you through walls and even with their back turned to you. It's very immersion breaking that the stealth is so unreliable. It was a huge open world with a lot to explore and that definitely appealed to me, but the combat was less refined than origins, the stealth was the worst in the series, the characters were hardly memorable, and there are JRPG skills that have no business in a historically accurate and immersion heavy game. Are you sure you just didn't lower your standards to complete the game like I am? It's widely agreed upon to be the worst game in the franchise. Valhalla worked to fix everything it did wrong.

Although I must admit I did dropp of the last 2 or so before orgins as I found them repetative and boreing. But Orgins and Odyssey were real refreshers, the tight tie to the historical periods they take place in are amazing and downright breathtaking at times. I've spent many hours juts walking around ancient athens, visitiing the parthenon, and climbing the statue of Athena/Minerva for a closer look at the detail of it all. Never had a problem with line of sight breaking AI, not sure why you would perhaps you have a bug the rest of us don't who knows. Amazing game one of the very few 10/10 lately
For the Lieutenant recruiting instead of using unarmed strike or assassinating and running off repeatedly, you can just initiate a fight with them and use a Spartan kick when they're low on health, more risky but could be quicker.
Absolutely. :) It is a little risky with the epic enemies though. I killed a few people I wanted to hire. Much easier later on though once you get your knock out arrows. Then there's no need to play hide and seek :) - Louise
or just use some knock out arrows when they are low. it is quite easy imo even without investing in the bow tree. just need one point to craft the arrows and it will still deal some decent knock out dmg to them
I usually drop one of my weapon and when the npc's up is lower than 10%, I start to fight him with my fists and knock him down. It is much safer than using overpower ability or weapons.
This is most definitely true. I came in Odyssey, after playing origins, really strong. Because I understood the system and how it works I ended up have epic gear within the first hour and a half of playing Odyssey. Plus I learned how I should prioritize from playing origins. The difference in Odyssey, though, is that they do keep your enemies at least 2 to 3 levels below your highest so that the game stays challenging.... And therefore, fun!
This is kind of beginner tips lol You can just knock out powerful enemies with a paralyzing arrow. You can use your eagle to spot sharks rather than fight them first.

I want to add, If you playing warrior and still want to stealth, build highest damage you can with heavy blunt plus charged heavy attack, and engrave critical to most of your set, attack them from behind at night with that full charged heavy blunt attack and it often result in one hit damage. I play like this since lvl 32 to 58, faster than having my character charging a fort and battle all of them at once.
these are my (extra) tips: 1) when you want to assassinate one opponent from a large group, just whistle. Most of the times if you do it correctly only one will come to check. 2) always have a full "assassin" gear, really useful in all occasions 3) critical damage is very VERY helpful, especially when combined with stealth attack or any assassination ability 4) take all contracts you see on message boards. 5) kill random mercenaries. They drop loot and drachme 6)don't be afraid to go to new places, but make sure to take care of all the previous ones. 7)Synchronise viewpoints. Always. 8)What you say in dialogs almost always do not affect much of the gameplay, don't stress so much, have fun. 9)use ikaros everywhere. Temples, cities, caves,underwater stuff, forts, ports, it makes your life a lot easier. 10) GOOGLE IF YOU NEED SOMETHING. l mean, you ain't have all day looking for that cultist or mission clue.
For the liutenant part, I've found that paralyzing arrows can do one hell of a job when you're trying to get that liutenant you really want xD. I like to recruit the mercenaries that hunt me.
@@MrWayne187 I like your style lol. I usually just look at their stats first and decide whether or not they're worth my time. My build is more of an Assassin, so I try to be sneakier xD.
You get Deimos, Stentor, Nikolaos and Myrinne as Mercs if you finish the main story and they survive. Alexios/Kassandra are the only one you truly want to fight by your side while boarding a ship because of the Isu abilities. the forcefield that the staff of Hermes gives, Deimos has that without the staff. and the rings of chaos skill he has is from his isu sword and is slightly different than yours.
Tip: ALWAYS, ALWAYS do those exclamation mark quests you see for each region. (ESPECIALLY if they're teal/blue) They offer a whopping load of EXP when completed and honestly aren't that hard for your level. What's probably the best part of them is that you can get information for your main storyline without having to work extra hard to get it. I killed two birds with one stone one time when I was raiding a fort for a side quest and got an item for an end-game quest. They can also literally lead you straight to a Cultist which is great and saves a ton of time.
One hidden feature that I like, when you need extra help taking out soldiers in forts and there are caged animals present, release the animals and jump on top of the cage. They'll help you take down any unfortunate soldier that comes across their path.
I found out about that only by the end of my first playthrough. Wish I had figured that out sooner because those materials are damn expensive at blacksmiths.
For tip 1, just use arrows from range and then use a knock out arrow or sneak behind and knockout. For tip 2, just use ikaros to spot the sharks and shoot them from the surface.
also, you are the only human that can swim. Run far enough into the water and you can escape all other people, including really angry bounty hunters. If you want, you can snipe them and kill them for their gear, while remaining safe in the water. Finally, when you run out of arrows during a fight, make more, the game doesn't advance when you are in your inventory screen. I play the pc version only, not sure if these tips work on Playstation or Xbox.
Ikaros is your most valuable tool. You can use the harass function, if you have the patience, to dwindle a targets health. To be able to knockout and recruit, or to kill enemies without a wanted level.
This is a little bit off topic , but i just want to get off my chest the reasons Why i thoroughly enjoy this game my favourite game so far this year and the best ac ever in the history of the franchise. Why.? 1. The character models are so realistic with the facial expressions especially in the dialog and cut scenes that it makes me as a player care about what happens with the story and the characters. I care about what happens to my kassandra. 2. And this is an important one ubisoft has pulled off one very tricky thing when it comes to making their huge open world in that they have made an openworld wich is huge but still interesting and more importantly rewarding to explore. Pretty much every location you explore is tied to collectables that advances your character in one way or the other. The cult system is genius because it makes some of the most mundane and repetetive tasks like attacking a fort or an enemy camp worth doing because they reward you with clues and intel about cult members. In my opinion this game is the result of the lessons ubisoft has learned from the previous games. Im hopeful for the future of this franchise. I dont care if the game has left its ac roots and embraced becoming a full on openworld action rpg. Its for the better stealth and infiltrating enemy forts and camps is better than ever if i fail and get overwhelmed in this one its on me in previous titles it was because of horrible game mechanics that were under developed. I play on nightmare diffeculty and have no problems clearing out huge enemy camps or forts. I play the range game and 1/2 shot with a bow to thin the heard and then i go in and stealth kill the rest. The enemy ai can be easily exploited. When the enemies says i see where the arrow is coming from all you need to do is move to a different position its like using a sniper in an fps. The enemies will always check the last postion or location you were seen.
We share a lot of opinions on this! It's definitely a huge step for the series but very much a necessary one. It still feels like Assassin's Creed but evolved in all the right way. All the locations do mean something and the cult system is great. I'm a big fan of mercenaries too. Making them the holders of great loot is a wonderful way of progressing. David Neraas, I Like The Game A lot And Haven’t Found A Thing I Don’t Like Except For The Fact That You Have To Pick Your Own Dialogue Because Why Give It If We Have To And Act Like A Mercenary. The Dialogue Just Gives The Game Different Endings. I Wish You Didn’t Have To Be A Mercenary Just Because I Can’t Get Into The Mindset Of Being One. Plus Some Of The Things You Pick For The Dialogue Doesn’t Actually Say Or The Character Will Say It In A Different Way That Didn’t Want.

4 years has passed. Im still travel around Greek world. 7 things in this vid I've discoverd by myself (My fav is kill Sharks while floating ... but i perfer shoot from boat or Andestria is easier.) Its very fun and nostalgic while watching yours vid. Good wooks ^^
For tips #6, I'd usually lure the fort polemarch as much as I can, since they're the highest ranking officer in the fort therefore the most difficult to deal with. The same explosion from the trap that kill the basic archer would absolutely kill the polemarch.
If I’m having trouble defeating a particularly strong character or merc, I tame an Alpha Animal and have them fight alongside me. It’s helped me out a lot, and when you tame an Alpha, you get credit for killing it, so you can complete the animal’s cave quest as well as gain a very strong fighting companion.
Brilliant idea because at the end of the day, an alpha animal doesn’t provide as much resources as you’d think. That’s why ship battles exist lol. You’ve just given me a good idea though. Am level 45 and I want that legendary mercenary at 49 to give me the Greek heroes set helm. This will help me a great deal to get it faster 👍
@@victoriasharpe1661 if you stay hidden you can constantly shoot mercs with fire arrows they'll stay in place occasionally moving while desperately trying to put the fire out, you can do that to mercs that are any level above you and if they have a animal companion with them they'll stay next to them and not try to hunt you Or if a merc is hunting you while you're in a fort you can set a trap on a brazier and one shot them by detonating it while they're next to it

bro… first tip if you’re trying to recruit high levels to your ship, just get their HP low enough and then hit them with a spartan kick that will immediately knock them out without killing. or you know.. just use paralyzing bows
1. No need to run, just use paralysis arrows when they are low health to knock them out instead.. a lot easier. 2. ...Best way ever 3. Make sure contracts are reasonable... sometime it gives you higher level contract and you will need to level up before doing it, comfortably that is. 4. Best way for fire arrows is to gain Hades bow which give the engrave of making all normal arrows into fire arrows. 5. its very hard to find, just so you know. 6. Always, if you don't want to be over run by enemies. 7. Sure... why not...
Hey, I have a tip that will help people out.. During naval fights/fights against opponents ships, you can leave ships that you destroyed but haven't sunk to the bottom of the ocean, as a healing source in fights. If you getting low in battle destroy those ships with your arrows or jevelins to get more health, I'm not 100% sure, but I think you might need to equip a lieutenant with that ability. Also most of you probably know this already, but you can board enemy ships to get out of rough situations and fights.

For the lieutenant recruiting part, I just take head-on fight but use fists instead of weapons. In inventory, if you click once on the weapon already equipped, the weapon slot becomes bare hands. Engaging in a fist fight knocks out the enemy instead of killing them.
These tips are not helpful at all lol you don't have to interact with the sharks ... Use ikaros to scan for them on your ship and you can go on a shooting spree until theyre all dead. Also for the lieutenants besides Sparta kick, you can use blunt arrows or unequip your weapon to punch them asleep
I fight against the lieutenants with my standard weapons and when their health is low, I turn around, unequip my weapon and fight with my fists. They get knocked out and I can recruit them with no big trouble at all.
Here's a quick tip, capture an alpha bear and equip Pandora's Kopis. The tamed alpha bear is just so OP. Majority of the game should be a walk in the park now including conquest battles.
I was exploring all the question marks for 60 hours on every land I go and did only side quests, now I am levels 48, still not yet unlock all the places, I just discovered Korinth yesterday. Is anyone like me?lol
All these tips were helpful, but the most helpful one was probably unintended- I had no idea you can put the fire out once you're burning. I always waited it out and hoped for the best. And I accidentally set myself on fire a LOT.
For the lieutenant and rare weapons you simply just use bounty hunters. You get the loot by recruiting. You also don't need to waste arrows on a snake. Also I use Icoris to find sharks and then use my bow, without them chomping me.
I know man... I haven't finished the game yet because I get engaged doing so much.... I'm level 61 currently and 8 have killed 164 mercenaries, I have killed all the mythical creatures, I'm about to kill the ghost of kosmos and still I feel like I have so much to do!
Here’s some tips that I discovered during my journey and that really helped me: 1) When you’re trying to recruit a lieutenant, you can just fight with your bear hands. No need to try to knock them out 34 times, it’ll take so much time. If you fight them without using a weapon, you won’t kill them. I think a lot of people already know that, but the video gives a way longer, harder, and honestly really time eating way to do it. Just saying. 2) While fighting a cult member, if you don’t hurt or kill any of the soldiers around you (if there are some) they can attack the cult member too. Just make sure you lock your target so that you don’t accidentally kill a soldier and turn an entire army against you lol. This tip can be really useful when your fighting a cult member that has a lot of levels ahead of you. (This might work with other targets too, like mercenary, but I never tried it) 3) When you’re fighting a lynx (or a mercenary with a lynx cause it happens a lot) and the lynx gets on your back and start damaging you, if you hold the dodge button instead of just pressing it, it will get off your back. Yep, it makes the whole thing way easier. 4) If you’re trying to infiltrate a small camp of soldiers to complete a quest or something, they may be some animals or other soldiers locked in cages. Unlock the cages when you get the chance. The soldiers in the camp are gonna attack the animals/prisoners and forget about you, until they kill them or you attack them. Can be useful if you don’t want to fight and are scared to be noticed. (Doesn’t work if the prisoners are civilians) That’s all I can think about right now, but I’ll update this comment if I think of anything else :)
I just started playing this game a few days ago and it's awesome! I used to play assigns creed on my old ps3 years ago! Love doing the side missions and there's so much to do on this game man
for the lieutenant thing. you can just "not equip" your secondary weapon to fight your target bare hands. fighting with your fist only won't kill the target and you can add him to your crew.
For the first tip you can also just fight the enemy and when his hp is low you can sparta kick him to knock him out then recruit, if you don't feel to keep hiding. Great Vid BTW
Here's a tip to get fire engravings for you weapons. Find the Mallet of Everlasting flame and Hade's Bow. This will be much easier to have flammable weaopns instead have just having yourself on fire or use an ability to do so. And if you want to have poison weapons find one of the cultists to get Arachne's Stingers and the Fanged Bow.
About recruiting, just fight them bare fisted (go to your inventory and click on your weapon to remove it and you'll fight with your fists). That way you can beat them up without killing them. You can also use the spartan kick
I just started this game and it's one of the first things I tried (sniping sharks while above water.) I'm way too scared to jump down in the water with them even though I know it's just a game 😂
Get the knock out arrows for the recruiting. Sharks just use Ikaros to scan for them and shoot from above, figured that out early on. Hold dodge and roll the flames out... Every person who has played games before should know side quest help you level and get cool stuff... with the snakes just hit them with the torch they tend to go down with one hit of the flames... A lot of this you can find out easily through just playing the game and testing things out, but for someone who hasnt played yet and needs a little help, this is a good video for tips, doesnt mean you have to follow them.
if you want to recruit someone and they have too much health you can just get them low with your weapons then switch to fists and beat them in to submission, no need to go hide 5 times in a row and if you want to put out the fire on yourself just do a Roll by pressing and holding the Dodge button that instantly puts it out.
With your bow drawn, if youre near an open flame, just point the arrow towards the flame to light it.... then fire away. if youre on fire, instead of tapping dodge or running to water, just drop n roll; HOLD dodge to put the fire out right away.
2:02, you can also just unequip a weapon and punch soldiers out for lieutenants. Once I got the choice of having two weapons, I would unequip the one I dislike, weaken the target until they were almost dead, and then knock them out.
Oh now I find this video! Lol if you use The ring of chaos try using the fire, or poison ability first before you launch the ring. You can thank me later😏👍
If you want to recruit an enemy just use an ability like the spartan kick to knock them out, or equip your fists and punch them, then just recruit them. No more time wasted :)
Best and easiest way to kill people and mercenaries ! Go up a tower or somewhere high and spartan kick them off it. Does so much damage and you can 1 hit kill most enemies if high up enough 🤣
Once I started making paralyzing arrows, it occurred to me to stop killing higher level mercenaries. I'm so glad I did because they're the only legendary lieutenants I've found, and they have great perks and make ship boardings take seconds.
A. I expected a narrative breakdown, so i expected a different video, but this is singlehandedly to blame on me, but as I am already here: B. Most of your points are bullshit. #1: You fight with the golden character and use the spartan cick, when her or his health bar is sufficiently down. Your "solution" is even more impractical than fighting them disarmed (which also works btw). Also it is mentioned, as it explicitly states that you can hire knocked down characters, and in the tool tip to the spartan kick it is also explicitly written, that it only knocks down enemies and isn't lethal. Of course you have to read the description, but it is wrong to say that ac "doesn't tell" it to you. It is also mentioned explicitly that you can and should update your ship, and the ui seems to me pretty self-explanatory, too. #2. You found the bow solution, congrats for that. I personally think this is a bug, but I use it, too. But, alas: if you figured that out, how did you not figure out, that the sharks are also targeted if you toggle to the eagle view and let the eagle look at the enemy, like you always do it, when you want to have your enemies targeted? So there is no reason to engage sharks underwater at all, and to just engage them to swim away is like the nearly as inelegant as your #1 solution. #3. to just quote you: "it is introduced at the start of the game, but" - well, there you have it. #4. this is a legit point. It took me a long time to figure it out by accident. But i find it too complicated to use, and just prefer sniping with the golden bow that automatically sets your arrows on fire. #5. yeah, i GUESS this is legit. I don't think it SHOULD HAVE been explained, if you enter those structures, you should really expect good loot, like, the structures are good crafted interiors, little closed dungeons, wich are quite rare in the game, and also this extra skill points are goodies for explorers like those little statues in old fall out titles. If it weren't a bonus surprise the first time, it wouldn't be as cool. But of course, AC doesn't say this. Possibly the addition, that you have to smash those lumber pieces in was poorly explained in the game. Origins did a better job here, by forcing the player through one of those in the tutorial. #6. in a game you constantly set yourself on fire by trying to burn things you are supposed to burn dow, you will certainly come to the conclusion that also your enemies can burn. And the trap thing in the warning post: if you go next to it, there is written "set trap" next to the sign of the key used for this action. This is as good explained as it gets. Its like if there is an object on the ground and when you approach it, there is written "press e to take the object". Literally. It is the same thing. And those spots are also picked up by your eagle view, so you shouldn't miss them and should explore them the first time you see them organically. If this is not explained enough in this game, i really don't know how you should do it. #7 the eagle petting is explained on a loading screen. So technically, AC does tell it to you. Even in words. But, okay, this can get lost. not everybody reads loading screens. but the barrel roll thing... This one is legit. I didn't notice it. But how come, you missed sooo many key pressing combinations that are possible and helpful during combat but never mentioned in the game? And that even some of them, which have their own ability, even work without the ability (like shift+attack)? How come with all your love to the eagle, that you somehow didn't catch how the eagle can help you in your #2? Many of your tips were impractical, were indeed explained in the games or were so obvious, that you could have included stuff like "you can kill enemies that stay at a cliff also by kicking them down" or "there is a key binding for auto walk, too. It is the same for auto horse, too" or "in a city, your horse will be slower"
If you are near a breakable wall, you'll hear a draft. Also, keep an eye out for those breakable pots, they sometimes hide holes in the wall that you can slide through.
best tip for new players is accept all the bounties as many overlap. for example; you can simultaneously get a contract to kill Athenian Archers and another to kill Athenian Soldiers and a bounty on a specific Athenian Soldier or (group of soldiers). completing the bounty will count towards the total required for the other 2. you can also get multiple contracts on ships, destroying war supplies and even contracts to kill nation leaders, so accept them all and you can get 2 or 3 done at the same time. also check your map to see if you are passing a quest marker on your way to a job as often they can be completed on the way
Some of the things which I feel aren't told very often tbh: 1). Use poison, it takes off health chunks, really helpful in fighting mercenaries or Legendary Animals. 2). You can get any of the legendary weaponry super early in the game and use its benefits i.e. Posieden's Trident unlocks breath underwater Engraving or the Fanged Bow which has Poison arrows instead of Normal Arrows which can be put on other gear. 3). Definitely invest in Spartan Kick, Shield Braker, Devastating Shot, Second Wind, and Sixth Sense. 4). Don't be afraid to Reset skill points, and assign them according to your liking. 5). Don't often upgrade gear, you'll get something better within a few fort fights or encounters. 6). If mercenaries come to hunt you down during a fort battle, climb on the top of the square place and wait for them to come up, and then Spartan Kick them. Falls will kill them usually, but this does not work with heavier or bigger enemies. 7). Remember to collect resources like there is no tomorrow because resources are mixed throughout the game. Some are found easily while others take time and effort. 8.) PAY YOUR BOUNTY and retreat, Some fights are better left than fought. 9.) Sell some of your gear, dismantle some gear and make both Drachma and Resources. 10.) Combination of Daggers, Hammers or Spears is very effective in taking down enemies but it really depends on your playstyle. I'll add more if I find any :)
Poseidon's Trident is lvl 41 which I wouldn't call "super early". No need to mess around with the high level lions guarding it before you can actually use it.
You dont have to run and hide to hire just get there health downand Spartan kick them down. Make sure to lead other enemys away from them cause hunter will revive them and kill them with there ability such as area effects
About hiring enemy. Just fight them until their HP low enough for you to finish them with a Sparta kick. After that you can hire them, just make sure you dont hit them again after the kick
If you’re not feeling like messing with a tough opponent in a fort, or if you’re just a bit bored. Set the trap on the brazier, and then sucker them into lighting it. It will take out anybody from what I’ve seen.
For players who take their time to do main quest wandering around the region doing random quest and raind forts. NEVER BURN SUPPLIES Supplies gave you nice amount of material which extremely important for upgrades. Ships and equipments. Just loot them, when you left that place maybe went futher into the regin that place like leader house or forts will restocks the supplies. Easy unlimited materials. You burn it after you finish the main quest on that region and need to leave that placr
I love the braziers, because it incentivizes getting into the thick of things *before* you start murdering everyone. Yes, I *could* just work my way there and get to the brazier in time, but I like the insurance. Plus, eating your way out from the middle of the fort is just more fun. I would have picked off that lowly archer so it wasn't wasted on him though.
Don't Tap Dodge to put out fire hold the Dodge button and you'll role and instantly put it out.

while i agree and use this method myself, it does have an inherent danger when you come up to a cluster of them. given how one attack takes off a guaranteed third of your health, if you mis-time your swings you're dead
You can tap the lock on toggle and you'll get an idea of how many snakes are in a dark room by thumbing the toggle to scroll through enemies. Then target them with the explosive arrow and set multiple snakes on fire
I just aim with my bow to tag them, then stand back and throw a torch at them. No need to even get close.

Absolutely agree. I'm 35 hours in and the game is just so beautiful and rewarding i can't stop playing.
What was good about it? It's the least Assassin-y Creed-y game in the series and the entire core concept of the game fails. I can't count how many times I've broken stealth because an enemy on the other side of a wall, building, or tent broke the rule of line of sight and alerted the entire area to me. All the skill in the world can't keep you undetected when those things happen. That's why I loved the older AC games and Ghost of Tsushima, if you know what you're doing, it's smooth and you'll never be detected. Whereas with Origins and so on, you just kind of get unlucky with enemy alert meters filling instantly or spotting you through walls and even with their back turned to you. It's very immersion breaking that the stealth is so unreliable. It was a huge open world with a lot to explore and that definitely appealed to me, but the combat was less refined than origins, the stealth was the worst in the series, the characters were hardly memorable, and there are JRPG skills that have no business in a historically accurate and immersion heavy game. Are you sure you just didn't lower your standards to complete the game like I am? It's widely agreed upon to be the worst game in the franchise. Valhalla worked to fix everything it did wrong.

Although I must admit I did dropp of the last 2 or so before orgins as I found them repetative and boreing. But Orgins and Odyssey were real refreshers, the tight tie to the historical periods they take place in are amazing and downright breathtaking at times. I've spent many hours juts walking around ancient athens, visitiing the parthenon, and climbing the statue of Athena/Minerva for a closer look at the detail of it all. Never had a problem with line of sight breaking AI, not sure why you would perhaps you have a bug the rest of us don't who knows. Amazing game one of the very few 10/10 lately

For the Lieutenant recruiting instead of using unarmed strike or assassinating and running off repeatedly, you can just initiate a fight with them and use a Spartan kick when they're low on health, more risky but could be quicker.
Absolutely. :) It is a little risky with the epic enemies though. I killed a few people I wanted to hire. Much easier later on though once you get your knock out arrows. Then there's no need to play hide and seek :) - Louise

I usually drop one of my weapon and when the npc's up is lower than 10%, I start to fight him with my fists and knock him down. It is much safer than using overpower ability or weapons.

This is most definitely true. I came in Odyssey, after playing origins, really strong. Because I understood the system and how it works I ended up have epic gear within the first hour and a half of playing Odyssey. Plus I learned how I should prioritize from playing origins. The difference in Odyssey, though, is that they do keep your enemies at least 2 to 3 levels below your highest so that the game stays challenging.... And therefore, fun!

Some things i find useful:
a) scout with Ikaros to ID those mercenaries that will be 'golden level' on ur ship not purple or blue.
2) If u need some furs/iron for an upgrade: i find if i go to a blacksmith, buy all his furs, then leave & immediately talk to the same blacksmith a 2nd time, usually he'll have reloaded his stock allowing u to buy a 2nd amount
3) The best weapon in the game, in my opinion, is in Crete

I want to add, If you playing warrior and still want to stealth, build highest damage you can with heavy blunt plus charged heavy attack, and engrave critical to most of your set, attack them from behind at night with that full charged heavy blunt attack and it often result in one hit damage. I play like this since lvl 32 to 58, faster than having my character charging a fort and battle all of them at once.

these are my (extra) tips:
1) when you want to assassinate one opponent from a large group, just whistle. Most of the times if you do it correctly only one will come to check.
2) always have a full "assassin" gear, really useful in all occasions
3) critical damage is very VERY helpful, especially when combined with stealth attack or any assassination ability
4) take all contracts you see on message boards.
5) kill random mercenaries. They drop loot and drachme
6)don't be afraid to go to new places, but make sure to take care of all the previous ones.
7)Synchronise viewpoints. Always.
8)What you say in dialogs almost always do not affect much of the gameplay, don't stress so much, have fun.
9)use ikaros everywhere. Temples, cities, caves,underwater stuff, forts, ports, it makes your life a lot easier.
10) GOOGLE IF YOU NEED SOMETHING. l mean, you ain't have all day looking for that cultist or mission clue.
For the liutenant part, I've found that paralyzing arrows can do one hell of a job when you're trying to get that liutenant you really want xD. I like to recruit the mercenaries that hunt me.

Stentor is a good addition to your crew. If you don't kill him he becomes a Merc. I haven't been able to recruit The Wolf but I am going to try.
You get Deimos, Stentor, Nikolaos and Myrinne as Mercs if you finish the main story and they survive. Alexios/Kassandra are the only one you truly want to fight by your side while boarding a ship because of the Isu abilities. the forcefield that the staff of Hermes gives, Deimos has that without the staff. and the rings of chaos skill he has is from his isu sword and is slightly different than yours.
Hunt or be hunted
Tip: ALWAYS, ALWAYS do those exclamation mark quests you see for each region. (ESPECIALLY if they're teal/blue) They offer a whopping load of EXP when completed and honestly aren't that hard for your level. What's probably the best part of them is that you can get information for your main storyline without having to work extra hard to get it. I killed two birds with one stone one time when I was raiding a fort for a side quest and got an item for an end-game quest. They can also literally lead you straight to a Cultist which is great and saves a ton of time.

One hidden feature that I like, when you need extra help taking out soldiers in forts and there are caged animals present, release the animals and jump on top of the cage. They'll help you take down any unfortunate soldier that comes across their path.
Or just shoot an arrow which will break/unlock the cage too.
once they notice you on top of the cage they will jump on the cage and fight you i prefer to hide in bushes
I don't remember the game telling me this, but I've found that looting the purple icon boxes before setting them on fire gives you a lot of loot.
I found out about that only by the end of my first playthrough. Wish I had figured that out sooner because those materials are damn expensive at blacksmiths.
For tip 1, just use arrows from range and then use a knock out arrow or sneak behind and knockout.
For tip 2, just use ikaros to spot the sharks and shoot them from the surface.
also, you are the only human that can swim. Run far enough into the water and you can escape all other people, including really angry bounty hunters. If you want, you can snipe them and kill them for their gear, while remaining safe in the water. Finally, when you run out of arrows during a fight, make more, the game doesn't advance when you are in your inventory screen. I play the pc version only, not sure if these tips work on Playstation or Xbox.

Ikaros is your most valuable tool. You can use the harass function, if you have the patience, to dwindle a targets health. To be able to knockout and recruit, or to kill enemies without a wanted level.
This is a little bit off topic , but i just want to get off my chest the reasons Why i thoroughly enjoy this game my favourite game so far this year and the best ac ever in the history of the franchise. Why.? 1. The character models are so realistic with the facial expressions especially in the dialog and cut scenes that it makes me as a player care about what happens with the story and the characters. I care about what happens to my kassandra. 2. And this is an important one ubisoft has pulled off one very tricky thing when it comes to making their huge open world in that they have made an openworld wich is huge but still interesting and more importantly rewarding to explore. Pretty much every location you explore is tied to collectables that advances your character in one way or the other. The cult system is genius because it makes some of the most mundane and repetetive tasks like attacking a fort or an enemy camp worth doing because they reward you with clues and intel about cult members. In my opinion this game is the result of the lessons ubisoft has learned from the previous games. Im hopeful for the future of this franchise.
I dont care if the game has left its ac roots and embraced becoming a full on openworld action rpg. Its for the better stealth and infiltrating enemy forts and camps is better than ever if i fail and get overwhelmed in this one its on me in previous titles it was because of horrible game mechanics that were under developed. I play on nightmare diffeculty and have no problems clearing out huge enemy camps or forts. I play the range game and 1/2 shot with a bow to thin the heard and then i go in and stealth kill the rest. The enemy ai can be easily exploited. When the enemies says i see where the arrow is coming from all you need to do is move to a different position its like using a sniper in an fps. The enemies will always check the last postion or location you were seen.
We share a lot of opinions on this! It's definitely a huge step for the series but very much a necessary one. It still feels like Assassin's Creed but evolved in all the right way. All the locations do mean something and the cult system is great. I'm a big fan of mercenaries too. Making them the holders of great loot is a wonderful way of progressing. For tips #6, I'd usually lure the fort polemarch as much as I can, since they're the highest ranking officer in the fort therefore the most difficult to deal with. The same explosion from the trap that kill the basic archer would absolutely kill the polemarch.
If I’m having trouble defeating a particularly strong character or merc, I tame an Alpha Animal and have them fight alongside me. It’s helped me out a lot, and when you tame an Alpha, you get credit for killing it, so you can complete the animal’s cave quest as well as gain a very strong fighting companion.
Brilliant idea because at the end of the day, an alpha animal doesn’t provide as much resources as you’d think. That’s why ship battles exist lol. You’ve just given me a good idea though. Am level 45 and I want that legendary mercenary at 49 to give me the Greek heroes set helm. This will help me a great deal to get it faster 👍
@@victoriasharpe1661 if you stay hidden you can constantly shoot mercs with fire arrows they'll stay in place occasionally moving while desperately trying to put the fire out, you can do that to mercs that are any level above you and if they have a animal companion with them they'll stay next to them and not try to hunt you
Or if a merc is hunting you while you're in a fort you can set a trap on a brazier and one shot them by detonating it while they're next to it

For such leutinants, just remove the weapon and use the arm to strike, it won't kill the target. After it is possible to recruit them

bro… first tip if you’re trying to recruit high levels to your ship, just get their HP low enough and then hit them with a spartan kick that will immediately knock them out without killing. or you know.. just use paralyzing bows
1. No need to run, just use paralysis arrows when they are low health to knock them out instead.. a lot easier.

3. Make sure contracts are reasonable... sometime it gives you higher level contract and you will need to level up before doing it, comfortably that is.
4. Best way for fire arrows is to gain Hades bow which give the engrave of making all normal arrows into fire arrows.

Hey, I have a tip that will help people out.. During naval fights/fights against opponents ships, you can leave ships that you destroyed but haven't sunk to the bottom of the ocean, as a healing source in fights. If you getting low in battle destroy those ships with your arrows or jevelins to get more health, I'm not 100% sure, but I think you might need to equip a lieutenant with that ability. Also most of you probably know this already, but you can board enemy ships to get out of rough situations and fights.
The only thing I didnt literally find out on my own in the beginning of the game is that ikaros can do a barrel roll. Whaaaat!

For the lieutenant recruiting part, I just take head-on fight but use fists instead of weapons. In inventory, if you click once on the weapon already equipped, the weapon slot becomes bare hands. Engaging in a fist fight knocks out the enemy instead of killing them.
Most of these were in Origins. The tip about sharks was good. I just thought they would bite your feet if you swam to the surface.
You can stay on your boat and use your bird to spot them underwater. You can just shoot them with arrows after that.
These tips are not helpful at all lol you don't have to interact with the sharks ... Use ikaros to scan for them on your ship and you can go on a shooting spree until theyre all dead. Also for the lieutenants besides Sparta kick, you can use blunt arrows or unequip your weapon to punch them asleep

I fight against the lieutenants with my standard weapons and when their health is low, I turn around, unequip my weapon and fight with my fists. They get knocked out and I can recruit them with no big trouble at all.
Sparta kick can do that too
Here's a quick tip, capture an alpha bear and equip Pandora's Kopis. The tamed alpha bear is just so OP. Majority of the game should be a walk in the park now including conquest battles.
I was exploring all the question marks for 60 hours on every land I go and did only side quests, now I am levels 48, still not yet unlock all the places, I just discovered Korinth yesterday. Is anyone like me?lol
All these tips were helpful, but the most helpful one was probably unintended- I had no idea you can put the fire out once you're burning. I always waited it out and hoped for the best. And I accidentally set myself on fire a LOT.

For the lieutenant and rare weapons you simply just use bounty hunters. You get the loot by recruiting. You also don't need to waste arrows on a snake. Also I use Icoris to find sharks and then use my bow, without them chomping me.
This game is crazy.... just when you think you've maxed out your ship or weapons or engravings.... nope, more slots unlocked.

I know man... I haven't finished the game yet because I get engaged doing so much.... I'm level 61 currently and 8 have killed 164 mercenaries, I have killed all the mythical creatures, I'm about to kill the ghost of kosmos and still I feel like I have so much to do!

Here’s some tips that I discovered during my journey and that really helped me:
1) When you’re trying to recruit a lieutenant, you can just fight with your bear hands. No need to try to knock them out 34 times, it’ll take so much time. If you fight them without using a weapon, you won’t kill them.
I think a lot of people already know that, but the video gives a way longer, harder, and honestly really time eating way to do it. Just saying.
2) While fighting a cult member, if you don’t hurt or kill any of the soldiers around you (if there are some) they can attack the cult member too. Just make sure you lock your target so that you don’t accidentally kill a soldier and turn an entire army against you lol. This tip can be really useful when your fighting a cult member that has a lot of levels ahead of you. (This might work with other targets too, like mercenary, but I never tried it)
3) When you’re fighting a lynx (or a mercenary with a lynx cause it happens a lot) and the lynx gets on your back and start damaging you, if you hold the dodge button instead of just pressing it, it will get off your back. Yep, it makes the whole thing way easier.
4) If you’re trying to infiltrate a small camp of soldiers to complete a quest or something, they may be some animals or other soldiers locked in cages. Unlock the cages when you get the chance. The soldiers in the camp are gonna attack the animals/prisoners and forget about you, until they kill them or you attack them. Can be useful if you don’t want to fight and are scared to be noticed. (Doesn’t work if the prisoners are civilians)
That’s all I can think about right now, but I’ll update this comment if I think of anything else :)

for the lieutenant thing. you can just "not equip" your secondary weapon to fight your target bare hands. fighting with your fist only won't kill the target and you can add him to your crew.

Here's a tip to get fire engravings for you weapons. Find the Mallet of Everlasting flame and Hade's Bow. This will be much easier to have flammable weaopns instead have just having yourself on fire or use an ability to do so. And if you want to have poison weapons find one of the cultists to get Arachne's Stingers and the Fanged Bow.
When you can literally take off ur weapon
About recruiting, just fight them bare fisted (go to your inventory and click on your weapon to remove it and you'll fight with your fists). That way you can beat them up without killing them. You can also use the spartan kick

Get the knock out arrows for the recruiting. Sharks just use Ikaros to scan for them and shoot from above, figured that out early on. Hold dodge and roll the flames out... Every person who has played games before should know side quest help you level and get cool stuff... with the snakes just hit them with the torch they tend to go down with one hit of the flames... A lot of this you can find out easily through just playing the game and testing things out, but for someone who hasnt played yet and needs a little help, this is a good video for tips, doesnt mean you have to follow them.

if you want to recruit someone and they have too much health you can just get them low with your weapons then switch to fists and beat them in to submission, no need to go hide 5 times in a row and if you want to put out the fire on yourself just do a Roll by pressing and holding the Dodge button that instantly puts it out.
This is my opinion: They don’t tell you because they might want you to figure it out
With your bow drawn, if youre near an open flame, just point the arrow towards the flame to light it.... then fire away. if youre on fire, instead of tapping dodge or running to water, just drop n roll; HOLD dodge to put the fire out right away.

2:02, you can also just unequip a weapon and punch soldiers out for lieutenants. Once I got the choice of having two weapons, I would unequip the one I dislike, weaken the target until they were almost dead, and then knock them out.

If you want to recruit an enemy just use an ability like the spartan kick to knock them out, or equip your fists and punch them, then just recruit them. No more time wasted :)

Best and easiest way to kill people and mercenaries ! Go up a tower or somewhere high and spartan kick them off it. Does so much damage and you can 1 hit kill most enemies if high up enough 🤣
Once I started making paralyzing arrows, it occurred to me to stop killing higher level mercenaries. I'm so glad I did because they're the only legendary lieutenants I've found, and they have great perks and make ship boardings take seconds.
Tip about the fire arrows,
Look for Hades’s Bow, it lights all your arrows on fire.

A. I expected a narrative breakdown, so i expected a different video, but this is singlehandedly to blame on me, but as I am already here:
B. Most of your points are bullshit.
#1: You fight with the golden character and use the spartan cick, when her or his health bar is sufficiently down. Your "solution" is even more impractical than fighting them disarmed (which also works btw). Also it is mentioned, as it explicitly states that you can hire knocked down characters, and in the tool tip to the spartan kick it is also explicitly written, that it only knocks down enemies and isn't lethal. Of course you have to read the description, but it is wrong to say that ac "doesn't tell" it to you. It is also mentioned explicitly that you can and should update your ship, and the ui seems to me pretty self-explanatory, too.
#2. You found the bow solution, congrats for that. I personally think this is a bug, but I use it, too. But, alas: if you figured that out, how did you not figure out, that the sharks are also targeted if you toggle to the eagle view and let the eagle look at the enemy, like you always do it, when you want to have your enemies targeted? So there is no reason to engage sharks underwater at all, and to just engage them to swim away is like the nearly as inelegant as your #1 solution.
#3. to just quote you: "it is introduced at the start of the game, but" - well, there you have it.
#4. this is a legit point. It took me a long time to figure it out by accident. But i find it too complicated to use, and just prefer sniping with the golden bow that automatically sets your arrows on fire.
#5. yeah, i GUESS this is legit. I don't think it SHOULD HAVE been explained, if you enter those structures, you should really expect good loot, like, the structures are good crafted interiors, little closed dungeons, wich are quite rare in the game, and also this extra skill points are goodies for explorers like those little statues in old fall out titles. If it weren't a bonus surprise the first time, it wouldn't be as cool. But of course, AC doesn't say this. Possibly the addition, that you have to smash those lumber pieces in was poorly explained in the game. Origins did a better job here, by forcing the player through one of those in the tutorial.
#6. in a game you constantly set yourself on fire by trying to burn things you are supposed to burn dow, you will certainly come to the conclusion that also your enemies can burn. And the trap thing in the warning post: if you go next to it, there is written "set trap" next to the sign of the key used for this action. This is as good explained as it gets. Its like if there is an object on the ground and when you approach it, there is written "press e to take the object". Literally. It is the same thing. And those spots are also picked up by your eagle view, so you shouldn't miss them and should explore them the first time you see them organically. If this is not explained enough in this game, i really don't know how you should do it.
#7 the eagle petting is explained on a loading screen. So technically, AC does tell it to you. Even in words. But, okay, this can get lost. not everybody reads loading screens. but the barrel roll thing... This one is legit. I didn't notice it. But how come, you missed sooo many key pressing combinations that are possible and helpful during combat but never mentioned in the game? And that even some of them, which have their own ability, even work without the ability (like shift+attack)? How come with all your love to the eagle, that you somehow didn't catch how the eagle can help you in your #2? Many of your tips were impractical, were indeed explained in the games or were so obvious, that you could have included stuff like "you can kill enemies that stay at a cliff also by kicking them down" or "there is a key binding for auto walk, too. It is the same for auto horse, too" or "in a city, your horse will be slower"

If you are near a breakable wall, you'll hear a draft. Also, keep an eye out for those breakable pots, they sometimes hide holes in the wall that you can slide through.

Try to dodge or parry if you want to take less damage.
best tip for new players is accept all the bounties as many overlap.
for example; you can simultaneously get a contract to kill Athenian Archers and another to kill Athenian Soldiers and a bounty on a specific Athenian Soldier or (group of soldiers).
completing the bounty will count towards the total required for the other 2.
you can also get multiple contracts on ships, destroying war supplies and even contracts to kill nation leaders, so accept them all and you can get 2 or 3 done at the same time.
also check your map to see if you are passing a quest marker on your way to a job as often they can be completed on the way
Some of the things which I feel aren't told very often tbh:
1). Use poison, it takes off health chunks, really helpful in fighting mercenaries or Legendary Animals.
2). You can get any of the legendary weaponry super early in the game and use its benefits i.e. Posieden's Trident unlocks breath underwater Engraving or the Fanged Bow which has Poison arrows instead of Normal Arrows which can be put on other gear.
3). Definitely invest in Spartan Kick, Shield Braker, Devastating Shot, Second Wind, and Sixth Sense.
4). Don't be afraid to Reset skill points, and assign them according to your liking.
5). Don't often upgrade gear, you'll get something better within a few fort fights or encounters.
6). If mercenaries come to hunt you down during a fort battle, climb on the top of the square place and wait for them to come up, and then Spartan Kick them. Falls will kill them usually, but this does not work with heavier or bigger enemies.
7). Remember to collect resources like there is no tomorrow because resources are mixed throughout the game. Some are found easily while others take time and effort.
8.) PAY YOUR BOUNTY and retreat, Some fights are better left than fought.
9.) Sell some of your gear, dismantle some gear and make both Drachma and Resources.
10.) Combination of Daggers, Hammers or Spears is very effective in taking down enemies but it really depends on your playstyle.

Poseidon's Trident is lvl 41 which I wouldn't call "super early". No need to mess around with the high level lions guarding it before you can actually use it.
You can paralyze the recruits or spartan kick. The spartan kick specifically doesn’t kill as long as it’s not off a cliff
You dont have to run and hide to hire just get there health downand Spartan kick them down. Make sure to lead other enemys away from them cause hunter will revive them and kill them with there ability such as area effects

If you use spartan kick when your target is low on health it’s much quicker to recruit them as it counts as a knockout
Neat trick for step 1, the spartan kick is nonlethal, make it your last attack and you can recruit the enemy

About hiring enemy. Just fight them until their HP low enough for you to finish them with a Sparta kick. After that you can hire them, just make sure you dont hit them again after the kick

If you’re not feeling like messing with a tough opponent in a fort, or if you’re just a bit bored. Set the trap on the brazier, and then sucker them into lighting it. It will take out anybody from what I’ve seen.
2.00 There are arrows that do it best if you want to hire later. They stun, but never kill.
For players who take their time to do main quest wandering around the region doing random quest and raind forts. NEVER BURN SUPPLIES
Supplies gave you nice amount of material which extremely important for upgrades. Ships and equipments. Just loot them, when you left that place maybe went futher into the regin that place like leader house or forts will restocks the supplies. Easy unlimited materials. You burn it after you finish the main quest on that region and need to leave that placr
Did you guys know you can use Ikoros to kill enemy if you upgrade Ikaros till level 3? Simply just find all the syncronize points.

I love the braziers, because it incentivizes getting into the thick of things *before* you start murdering everyone. Yes, I *could* just work my way there and get to the brazier in time, but I like the insurance. Plus, eating your way out from the middle of the fort is just more fun.
I would have picked off that lowly archer so it wasn't wasted on him though.
