And kinda obscenely unfair I'd say. Opponent drafted a beautiful deck and each bomb got dealed with. But it's Magic baby ! Well played to both of them.
1-0, our hand is a little bit slow. I'm hoping this Infernal Vessel though, Goes a long way to help us get to where we need to go. When's the album drop? What's your rap alias?
I think Seeker's Folly is very playable if you've got 2 or more Burglar Rats in your deck. Turn 2 Burglar Rat into turn 3 Mind Rot can be absolutely crippling. After you've removed 3 cards from the opponent's hand all your 1 for 1 removal gets better The -1/-1 mode is infrequent, but great against a double healer's hawk start or similar where Mind Rot would usually be worse. I think the card's a C but I find it's usually being treated like a D at most draft tables.
Wow, what a spectacular Micromancer deck! FWIW, I like Pilfer in this format. A lot of decks tend to be a bunch of C-level cards with one or two As and whoever gets to stick their bomb wins. In UB if you don't have the Refutes then the Pilfer can help a lot by taking out the one relevant threat that the opponent has.
P3P3, I think I'd be on Infestation Sage over Nine-Lives Familiar. You're concerned about your curve, so taking the one-drop feels good. It works with your sac effects the same way Familiar does, and Familiar can be tough to cast early as a double-pipped card. The Familiar gives you some extra chump blocks, but I don't think that's enough to sway me in that direction.
@@chuckrose8330 funny guy lol, decks have archetypes and black decks can be either control, midrange, or aggro. There are things called themes in each set too, which means it can be centered around sacrifice, lifegain, or threshold. All of those are second to just having a good, well-balanced deck and I'm struggling to figure out the proper use case for this card! Great day
@@TheAmericanBR Thanks for the lesson on deck building. I've only been playing since Arabian Nights so I needed that. I wasn't trying to be funny. The card goes in almost any black deck in Foundations draft. The only deck where I haven't had success with it is B/R aggro. It's just too clunky to cast on turn three and if things are going well the game is decided by turn 5-6 when it would get their last two cards.
I think Seeker's Folly is a nice card. It's not premium, but Mind Rots are good when you're in a midrange mirror and -1 to the board gives you some catch-up against the kind of decks where mind rot is bad. Seeker's Folly feels like a concession to Wizards throwing away BO3 as a competitive format. Instead of letting us play ranked sideboarded games, they just make everything modal, which I am not convinced is a good answer. I really wish they would bring ranked BO3 onto Arena. Like that Phyrexian Arena pick. I understand totally why you didn't want to take it, but if you were drafting BO3? That card is unbeatable in certain matchups and would have been a snap take over the Brineborn guy. Okay, getting off my soapbox now. Wotc, please give us ranked BO3!
Looking back on the draft, I wonder if Paul regrets playing 4x Stab, or would he rather have a diff higher impact card or maybe an additional threat or something. I don't remember what else was in his pool, I just think maybe 4x stab has diminishing returns.
Based on your board, and opponents three cards, nothing you can do to win that turn. You could just scry + sac the wall to arbiter but you’d also have to sac to kill extra flyer. Tough spot, not sure there’s a way out of it
Cephalid is so weird - I also dont like it, but I feel like if it was a sorcery that said 'Surveil 3, then create an unblockable 2/2 creature token' I'd be first picking it in some packs.
He was open to it, but not yet fully in it. Stab and bake will be good in any black deck while familiar is not as good in every black deck outside rakdos.
Watching you win game 2 against zimone and Chandra was so satisfying
How the heck did he deal all those rares lmao
And kinda obscenely unfair I'd say. Opponent drafted a beautiful deck and each bomb got dealed with. But it's Magic baby ! Well played to both of them.
You complained about the Zimone into Chandra, but forgot to mention the triple removal turn to prevent you from casting eaten alive.
Paul "Micromancer" Cheon
This weirdly feels very insulting XD
@@haumph its not about the cmc its about how you use it

Lol I noticed the same thing. Sick. Absolutely sick
Wow these games were epic. Masterful maneuvering in the draft, excellent respect for Cancel in g 1, and g2... ya. G2 was a ride. Great vod. Ty again 🎉
Glad you enjoyed
30:33 "WHAT THE HELL! THIS IS STUPID! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????"
that game 2 that was the best draft deck i ever seen
That game 2 was absolutely INSANE. Reminded me of the MKM draft where you took on like 3 Izonis 💀
yes it was!
25:00 oppo was committed to the sac, respect
Beating bombs with consistent value, big removal and small removal engine

Yes it surely was. Thanks for watching!

I like 1 but I've been pretty sad about playing a second

you're probably right. I just wanted to try the sweet rare
I think seeker's folly is just great sideboard card.. it has a high ceiling but a very low floor as well so i'd rather go for consistency
I think Seeker's Folly is good. The two for one discard, and the -1/-1 can be a great way to get ahead on cards or on board.
This seems like a format where a mindrot could be absolutely devastating
27:07 nice rhymes😂
Came here to comment that he's turning into a poet!
I think seekers folly is fine. It blasts green/white go wide Strategies with the -1 and blue control strategies with the discard 2.
Also kills mischievous mystic decks, I'm just struggling to figure out the ideal deck to slot in a seeker's folly
@@TheAmericanBRDecks than cast black spells are ideal.

False

Hello, ive always valued tolarian terror pretty highly. Would you mind explaining why you dont like it?
Worse in this format than it is in others. Lots of chump blockers, removal is better, etc
Blue/black Cheons
Alright I just paused as the Chandra gets cast...IDK how it ends but... crazy
No way dude!
Haha yeah crazy indeed
If you used fake your own death on nine lives familiar would it get all of its counters back? Or only if it had none at the time aka life number 9?
The familiar reads that it only applies counters if cast, so no
Cephalid is so weird - I also dont like it, but I feel like if it was a sorcery that said 'Surveil 3, then create an unblockable 2/2 creature token' I'd be first picking it in some packs.
Seeker's Folly is a haymaker - it either wins the game, or trades 1 for 1 with a land.
In the last game, he should sacrifice micromancer, the demon gives a card and 2 life, besides the oponent discard a card.
yeah, that or the wall maybe
You can just make upkeep stops instead of going in full controll mode every time.
Aetherized!
I don't think pilfer is as bad as you think in the blue black deck.
Pack 1 - three Hare Apparents wheeled?!
Apparently

You wanted black red sacrifice theme, or you were considering leaning into it, and skipped nine lives familiar for a stab. HELP ME UNDERSTAND PAUL!!
It gets cooked nine times.
Stab is just the best removal in the draft, especially if you're already going black
Stab is the better card?
