- After running the GoPro Hero 8 Black, GoPro Hero 8 Media Mod and Purple Panda microphone for the past year and a half, I decided to upgrade.
I received my new shiny GoPro Hero 10 Black today along with the GoPro Hero 9/10 Media Mod and got everything setup for motovlogging.
Here's what the new setup looks like.

HUGE THANK YOU MAN. I got my microphone adapter second hand and your video was THE ONLY ONE that mentioned the 3 black lines to 2 black lines thing. 2 minutes into your video and my problem is solved!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
I'm glad you got it sorted! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for your information.
greetings from Indonesian beginner motovlog 👍👍👍
Happy to help! Keep it shiny side up!
I just broke my Media Mod using it to motovlog. The mic jack is very fragile. After only to short runs around 100 kph I noticed a lot of popping sounds in the footage, that I now know were due to the bad contact in the mic jack caused by the wind making the small amount of unsecured mic cable vubrate violently. Now when I tap the mic plug when in the jack it almost peggs the audio meter. As well, both builtin Mod mics are no longer working. Having a cable from your Wireless go to the Media mod probably wont last long based on my experience. The lav mic cable is much thinner and next time I will take more time to secure it to make sure it does not damage the mic jack. 100$ dollar lesson learned. If I break another media mod I will try the old style adapter.
Good luck
Sorry to hear that! I've been using a media mod and GoPro on my helmet for 2-3 years now with no issues luckily but will keep an eye out on what you are describing!
Cool video ma man.
Did you have to change any settings on the gopro in order to use the purplepanda mic?
I tried mine today and it does not work,
Hey man, I didn't have to change anything at all. The camera detected the media mod and then just plug the mic in.
did you figure it out, mine doesn't work either.
@@futureofcarstube hey man did you figure out yours? i have the same problem right now
@@seannixmoto3866 yeah I just had to use the adapter. It might seems like your purple panda mic jack fits right in and the adapter doesn’t, just have to push the adapter in a little harder
When I connected my purple panda mic to my GoPro 10, I have good audio, but the GoPro 10 voice commands don't work when my motorcycle is running. Do you have that same problem?
Sorry, I don't use voice commands so I haven't unfortunately tested that.
Thanks bud. been trying to get it working & you solved it for me. that darn adapter. now works fine. thank you.
Glad you got it sorted! Happy recording!
So, I cannot plug the purple panda directly into the media mod on my GoPro hero, 11 correct? Thanks very much for your feedback!
Hey there! I don't know about the GPH11 but I imagine it's the same and yes, you need an adapter unfortunately.
@@FstLaneUkraine thanks for the speedy reply! I’ll pick up the adaptor and give it a go!
Enjoy!
Hi where did u get the cable from. For camera to mic. ??. Many thanks
Hi there! You mean the Purple Panda mic? I got it from Amazon!
Do you get static sound on highspeed?
Nope, no issues here. Sorry! Maybe your mic is coming unplugged slightly at high speed?
@@FstLaneUkraine I tried a lot of options, the regular go pro adpter ,now i am using media mod, with purple pnda ,and tried sony as well.nothing works for me.we have the same set up.the only difference is that i am using a hero8blck,
I had a Hero 8 Black in my last setup with media mod and purple panda and it worked just as great! Your setup only has issues at certain speeds? That's odd. Have you tried ensuring all of your firmware and such is up to date?
Not using adapter like GP 9
