"Sit her on the couch, play this lick, and she'll probably take you back"! Great line Rob! I am rolling! This is a great video by the way. Thanks for all of your inspiration.
Mate, I'm 55 and came back to drumming after a 30yr gap. You're videos are not only incredibly helpful but inspirational. Makes me cry for the lost years and look forward to the next 30 all at the same time. Thank you and stay safe.
Man, where were you 25 years ago! I’ve been playing the drums wrong the whole time. Just looking at your channel this past month has improved my playing by, let’s just say a lot! My grip the way I hold the sticks now , I’m now starting play with my fingers more to increase my speed. Thank You BeatDown!
YES!!! My man! Just what I was trying to start learning how to use and incorporate into my playing. Not only are you a fantastic player, teacher, and man; but you've somehow become telepathic in addition to all that??!! ;) This is a great lesson and demonstration! Take care and God bless!
I just got it on the pad @ work .....cant wait to get home and transfer to the kit. It really helped to learn the six stroke from other video ! Thank you brother Rob !
I would like to share two 9's licks: Weckl-style: Rll KKRLKK with the hands between the kicks orchestrated on toms Jost Nickel: KKL rrLRll all hands on Snare. Have fun!
Love the BEAT DOWN Rob. Unique groove. Reminds me of some of those beautiful African grooves and sounds. Thank you for all you do. PS. your nearly end groove reminded me of old Buddy Rich. Great expertise always.
Love love loving your way of doing things . I get drum kit access once every week ( sometimes two weeks) You are a true diamond for the way you educate people who love drums . So looking forward to hitting the skins again . Next time is my 2nd go in 15 years !! so rusty , but more educated in drumming theory . Thank you so very much :) 👍👍👍☮☮☮
That is a fun lick. It's basically an inverted paradiddle, so you could switch to regular paradiddle, if you wanted different accents. I'm definitely gonna play with this one.
Mr. Brown, I only picked up drums this year on my e-kit but your videos have significantly improved my playing. Plus just watching you play is a joy in itself!
Get an acoustic as fast as possible e kit is great but for a beginner it can easily set you up for bad habits and embarrassment when you jump on the real thing coming from a place of love as a fellow drummer
For some reason I feel like he does not know what he is talking about but at the same time knows everything perfectly. And I love it. new subscriber here. I Learn something new every video. Ps. 7:30 sounded really cool love that kit
Hi Rob, LOVE the channel, this lick is so cool, it reminds me of a Joe Porcaro thing that I saw too many years ago. Keep randomly adding in the rrL part too and it opens up even more. And thanks for all the stuff in improving hands, after 30 years playing it has still made a massive difference x
Hey Rob shout out from way down south Tejas. I really appreciate all good fundamental instructions & insights to the kit. Im glad I found something I can actually use & not alot talk. Keep it jamming.
Greetings Rob! Thank you for sharing more goodies with us. I'm looking forward to practicing this on the snare tonight. Also, I changed my main grip/fulcrum to thumb and middle finger a few weeks ago and I'm so much more relaxed, my playing is smoother and my finger control is better. Still working on keeping the pinky 100% involved in my grip because I can notice the difference when it's not used Man, I used to grip the sticks so hard between my thumb and index finger that I'd sometimes get blisters during gigs from trying to play too hard and loud. I'm so thankful I discovered your channel because it's been the best in helping me start over with my drumming. Sending peace and love to you and all from Arkansas!
Omg I can’t believe I don’t need 20 pillows in my bass drum! I did the bass drum just like u said and bam! Wow!thanks bro for all the tuning tips my 600 kit sounds pretty good with evens heads, also took your advice on the snare and cymbals, got good ones!lol....
Ah, one of my favorites. I've been abusing this lick ever since I figured out my favorite sticking for a 6 stroke roll - so happens to be like you play it (RllrrL).
Hi Rob. Could you please consider doing a lesson on rim shots? If I play a series of rim shots, no two are gonna sound the same. How do I tighten those up?
Man, I need to set my wife down on the couch and play this lick so hopefully she'll take me back. NAH! She can go........ I'll play this lick after she's gone. 🤣🤣
I have been doing this lick for sooo long I learned six stroke rolls and did them so often that now I can’t play any other fills. I always do stuff like rllrrl rll rllrrlr It’s a great lick but don’t play it too often and keep playing other fills is my advice.
"Sit her on the couch, play this lick, and she'll probably take you back"! Great line Rob! I am rolling! This is a great video by the way. Thanks for all of your inspiration.

Man this is powerful and do this exercise daily and you will get your hands moving more quickly
I could listen to those Toms all day. And tomorrow.

Very nice! This looks like a lot of fun.
Thanks Rob! This is just what I needed to see. I’ve been working on applying the 6 stroke around the kit.
I don't want this to be weird Rob Brown, but I love you. Not "LOVE love," but "love." You're awesome.

Hey Rob shout out from way down south Tejas. I really appreciate all good fundamental instructions & insights to the kit. Im glad I found something I can actually use & not alot talk. Keep it jamming.

“Great timing” is a literal definition of a drummer’s job 🤣🤣
Pun intended 😏
This insane!
Ah, one of my favorites. I've been abusing this lick ever since I figured out my favorite sticking for a 6 stroke roll - so happens to be like you play it (RllrrL).

Sick As Dude love your work 👏👍
Brilliant thanks
Beautiful! Thanks as always Rob!
👍Niceness! 🙂👊 Pretty darn useful!
Even listening on my crappy phone speakers that snare sounds insane.
Yo Rob! Thanks! Your the “man”!
Hi Rob. Could you please consider doing a lesson on rim shots? If I play a series of rim shots, no two are gonna sound the same. How do I tighten those up?
I've played this one for years: RllrrL + RLB (cap letters: accented notes). Do let me know if you can try it and like it!
What is B? Bass drum? Usually people use “F” for foot.
@@gsxerwhite Some use B for bassdrum or K for kick, even F for foot. There are many ways to express the same thing. Have fun.
This is great, but I prefer +BRL, so that the kick falls an straight 8th notes, which might be a little bit easier to follow for the listener.
How many strokes per beat? Nine? Is this a nine stroke roll? Please help me!
Nice. I needed a good beatdown.
A good beatdown never hurt anybody🤘🏽....Oh wait 🤔...
Yes I needed this
thanx great video
Sick af

I have been doing this lick for sooo long I learned six stroke rolls and did them so often that now I can’t play any other fills. I always do stuff like rllrrl rll rllrrlr
It’s a great lick but don’t play it too often and keep playing other fills is my advice.

I am gona find that cool sauce 😂✌️
I want a T but the shipping and import 😭. Loving the lesson. 👍
Yea. It’s rough in some locations. Thought that counts, man 🙂✌🏽
"Giant cool sauce!"
DrumGod
Been married 32 years! Anything I can play that gets lady out of the house? Kidding! She's cool!
Rob, Which Paiste splash cymbal is that between your mounted toms in this particular video?
I would buy some beat down stickers if you got em?
You could mix this lick (RllrrLRll) with this one too : RllrrLrrl
Sure could 🤘🏽
You don't play traditional grip anymore?
I keep both grips in shape 💪🏾
seems like ive heard Ian Paice do this-
My girlfriend broke up with me i called her and told her i mastered the six stroke roll +3 note tomorrow is our wedding
I like chicken nuggets do you?
WHO DON’T?! 🥇
Rob, if my girlfriend wants to break up with me, I'll sit her on the couch and show her any of your vids---she'll take me back.
