I grew up with these as German pancakes! I was just thinking the other day I needed to make this, since it’d be something my kids (somewhat picky) would love. Thanks for sharing your version! ❤
I am making your recipe this weekend, but my go to is by Alton Brown who has a Dutch Baby recipe without the custard the excess eggs makes, from the Good Eats episode, "Popover Sometime".
Timestamp 10:13 is the sweet little honey bear on the bottom left falling alseep or saying grace? She's so precious. (Honey Bear is what I call my kiddos)
I just saw that too, at first I thought maybe she was saying prayers but then noticed others were eating ...so I'm thinking someone wasn't very happy at that moment lol
I love this video and what a beautiful way to start a video, with nice calming music, cats and a look around the garden at a beautiful day and beautiful flowers.😍 The Cerastium tomentosum (July Snow) is breaking out into flower I see. Lovely! I am trying out this recipe. If you cook too much, will it keep for the next couple of days' breakfast? 🥰
We get up in Brittany France eating le far au pruneaux. Basically this recipe with A LOT less eggs and dried prunes macerated in Cognac. I love far so much!
I love a dutch pancake! I haven't used as many eggs but will try it next time. Your's looks much thicker. I love putting blueberries in it with a little almond extract. So good! One of my favorite Sunday breakfasts!
My husbands family made Dutch babies his whole life. When I married into the family I gladly learned the recipe. It was so yummy and easy. Will have to try your version 😊
I've made dutch babies so many times, and it's never really puffy! It's more like a flan type texture. Delish, but I will be trying your recipe next. Maybe I need a hotter temp since we're at high elevation?
I need easy, high protein breakfast ideas and cleaning up just a few dishes is a big bonus! Also, I want to say that you have a great husband in Stew. I can see his shadow and holding his arms up that long to record is sweet. Doing it without making me sea sick, well that’s plain impressive 😉
Wow I totally thought when you were mixing in only one cup of flour …I was like “How she’s going to feed six people“ because in my head it was normal pancakes but that looks amazing I’m totally making that tomorrow… It’s like having my favorites -scrambled eggs and pancakes together! I just love the taste of the maple syrup on my eggs😋BTW I want your life ..we just bought a house in the mountains in January still trying to fix it it’s taking forever I’m so impatient God forgive my impatience I’m so ready though🙏🏻☦️
Thank you for sharing a visual preparation of this recipe! I remember trying it the first time you mentioned it on the podcast a few years ago; time to try it again! 😊 I so enjoyed all the shots of your property at the beginning. It’s getting that “settled” look that comes after years of care. 🤍 I love the living room shots, as well. Those window views are golden!! 👌
Breakfast is my favorite!!! ❤️ and pancakes are good for any time of day. Are you planning to do an updated house tour with all of the amazing updates? I absolutely adore your home.
I need high protein breakfast ideas and easy cleanup is a big bonus! I can see Stew’s shadow and man, he sure is doing a good job of recording without making me sea sick. You have magnificent views and that little orchard is precious.
Yum! Yes, it is an easy & yummy anytime meal! I use my mom's 10 inch oven-proof skillet and it makes a beautiful pancake! Thanks for your recipe--going to try it in the blender!🥰🙏🏼
So...the recipe. 425 degrees. 1 cup flour. 1.5 cups milk. 12 eggs. pinch of salt. 1/2 cup sweetener. add all to blender and blend. several tablespoons butter in the pan. 10-15 minutes later, done.
I look forward to every video you share. Thank you for sharing this recipe; I’ve heard you mention it on the podcast and I have lots of eggs this time of year to use up. Did you get new recording equipment? Something has changed in the formatting or lens… or? Not in a bad way, just noticed you did something different. Keep up the great work!
Recipe looks interesting. I always though it would be great to have 2 boys and 2 girls, so each one would have a brother and a sister, but we ended up with 4 boys. But the looks we'd get when we'd actually go out to eat now and then...lol!
It's yorkshire pudding right? although i don't generally put sweetener in yorkshire pudding. but anyway, what i came here to say was, how in the world did you capture that perfect spring morning light in your kitchen? It makes this video so beautiful. ok, off to make a puff pancake. :)
And thanks to egg-layer rebound as avian flu eases, egg prices are back to $1.50 at our store. Puff pancakes here we come! Thanks, Shaye for reminder of this fun breakfast!
It definitely tastes like eggs, but I personally find it delicious! I make mine with 6-8 eggs instead of 12 and pretty much the same other measurements Shea uses so you could try with a bit less eggs at first to see and work your way up!
I am still shocked that you use these aluminum Mocha Pots...with all of the health warnings on aluminum??...It is a great heat conductor but knowing what we all know about the toxity of aluminum pots and pans and mocha pots..Why??

We love this pancake too, often make with home canned apple slices in bottom of pan (with butter of course)

I love how many names this pancake goes by! To my family these are Swedish oven pancakes :) And yes they are the perfect fast food for garden days!

Oh my goodness, I'm so enjoying this recipe at this very moment! Thank you! Wonderful with fresh berries on the side.
Looks good! Take away the sweetener and add some meat drippings (or just keep the butter) and you have Yorkshire Pudding for dinner!

Thank you! I can't wait to make this recipe! It looks soooo delicious! xx
I make a version of this handed down from my mom's family, we slice an apple and put it in the batter. Excellent with a sprinkle of powdered sugar.
Our cow finally calved 4 days ago, so thankful
One time for the party I've made merengues out of duck egg yolks. They were vanished in minutes, mostly by kids.
My husbands family made Dutch babies his whole life. When I married into the family I gladly learned the recipe. It was so yummy and easy. Will have to try your version 😊
We call these German pancakes- good stuff.
I've made dutch babies so many times, and it's never really puffy! It's more like a flan type texture. Delish, but I will be trying your recipe next. Maybe I need a hotter temp since we're at high elevation?

Our family always enjoys this for breakfast!
Looks delicious :D and so easy too. Thank you
Oh my goodness, Shaye, your duck pond! I miss my ducks❣
I don’t even eat breakfast foods but just LOVE your videos ❤

My grandma used to make Dutch babies when we spent the night. She would top them with corn syrup. 🫣 As a kid I thought it was delicious though!
Wishing you a Belated Happy Mothers day 💞.
JO JO IN VT 💞
Yummy. Looks like a beautiful morning there.

The music on here is very pretty
This is the way I make my custard crustless pie except I add lemon and vanilla. Never tried it like this served like a pancake.
Instead of flour, I add sourdough starter to mine. It works great.
I like to put strawberry jam on my german pancake when it comes out of the oven.
Looks so delicious!!
That looks delicious, will be trying it.. might add a little sourdough.

I don't think you meant to say that you put in a gross of eggs (144), that is one dozen 😛
@@bigkenny66 HAHA. good catch

This is essentially a large Yorkshire pudding but without the sweetener
Recipe looks interesting. I always though it would be great to have 2 boys and 2 girls, so each one would have a brother and a sister, but we ended up with 4 boys. But the looks we'd get when we'd actually go out to eat now and then...lol!
I love puff pancake
Love Duck eggs
Hello Shaye, I don't have duck eggs, how many chicken eggs can I replace them with? Thank you. Love from France. Amandine
Kinda a Yorkshire pudding with sugar
So no need for baking powder to help it rise?
It's yorkshire pudding right? although i don't generally put sweetener in yorkshire pudding.
but anyway, what i came here to say was, how in the world did you capture that perfect spring morning light in your kitchen? It makes this video so beautiful. ok, off to make a puff pancake. :)
Similar method for sure but Yorkshire pud will usually have beef drippings as the fat and be decidedly savoury.
@@DonnaBorooah oh yeah, you’re totally right. When I make it I always have sausage drippings in the pan.
Th littlest One looked like She waz about to uze Herz like a pillow
If using chicken eggs do you still use 12?
I signed up to learn Portuguese over a year ago with one of your discount codes. It's hard.
💛
Every time I make this recipe the eggs and flour separate? Does anyone have troubleshooting ideas?
What type of coffee maker did u use. On range.
It’s a moka pot.. they are inexpensive and make really strong coffee. Like espresso almost
Ya I think that’s why they added water & prob milk
And thanks to egg-layer rebound as avian flu eases, egg prices are back to $1.50 at our store. Puff pancakes here we come! Thanks, Shaye for reminder of this fun breakfast!
it is an omlet
I would love to learn to speak Hebrew but Babel does not do this. Have not found one so far.
Hummm dose it have an eggy type taste? Anyone know? It sure looks Wonderful but have a home of picky non egg taste lovers .

Duck eggs make me SO sick just hearing you say the words....
Coffee maker made of aluminum?
If so…….not a good thing.
I am still shocked that you use these aluminum Mocha Pots...with all of the health warnings on aluminum??...It is a great heat conductor but knowing what we all know about the toxity of aluminum pots and pans and mocha pots..Why??
