John Dough Actually, the new Ridgeline was voted the MOST American made truck. Even though Honda is a foreign company, it employs more American labor in the manufacturing of the Ridgeline than the big three American companies do with their trucks. Ironic yes, but true.
KBB videos are consistently informative, filmed beautifully, with the information presented in a funny, yet relatable and professional way. I look forward to every review, and really appreciate all the effort that goes into every video. It really makes me want to change my major and become a auto journalist! Well done KBB!
Love my new ridgeline. Didn't need to pull a camper/horse trailer. Still has plenty of power, and handling. I am able to put my dirtbikes in the bed and gear in the storage area. At some point ill probably get a small boat and this will work just fine.
Ryan Tate I’m with ya, just need to tow 2 atvs and 2 snowmobiles. Which are no where near 5klbs but I can get a 4x4 v6 Colorado w/t for 27k. I like the Honda but maybe to expensive
The biggest thing I've had in the back of my truck was my atv. Every now and then a job site table saw and mitresaw and various hand tools. I don't off road, I don't plow and I don't tow 10,000 lbs. I tote the kids around, recycling and use it as a daily driver. This ridgeline is perfect.
I drove this the other day, and I love how good the handling is. I'm not a huge truck guy, I drive sport cars and GT cars mostly, so I drive like a jack ass, but I've driven a Ford F-250 and a Toyota Tacoma and this truck is so comfortable and capable... in terms of handling and comfort. The biggest problem is the volume nob since there isn't one.
I mean, technically speaking, this isn't actually a truck, as the definition of a truck is a utility vehicle that is built body-on-frame, and the bed must be separated from the cab. The Honda Ridgeline is unibody, and the bed is integrated with the cab.
Luke witt, actually TECHNICALLY it IS a truck! You might want to look up the definition of the word "truck". A truck is not defined by if it has a unibody or not!
My dad bought a white RTL-T two months ago which I recommended for him & he loves it to death! It has a nice high quality feeling interior, very strong power from the sweet 3.5L V6, very quiet interior, very comfortable seats & super agile handling for its size. It's the perfect truck for him & he doesn't do heavy towing or payload. He also loves the in bed trunk. It replaced a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac (he bought it new back in 2003) which was still going strong, 302k miles with very few problems over the years, but felt very old & was long overdue for replacement.
Bought the Honda Ridgeline RTL-T. Why? Tho it cost a lot more than the Chevy Colorado the Ridgeline RTL-T have more to offer and really great gas milage. If you own a Honda Pilot or even a CR-V, you will adapt to the many features inside the vehicle. Best reason I got it was I have no reason to have a heavy duty truck when I will not use it for heavy duty work or off roading. Now for everyday driving the Honda Ridgeline drives better than the SUV Pilot and is good for light to medium work of hauling loads. Another feature is that the Honda Ridgeline for now is the the only truck that has front wheel drive. This truck is for everyday people like me who are not into off roading, but have best of both worlds of a SUV / Truck.
We have the pilot and it is awesome! Tight, smooth and has adequate power. Plus I'm glad thing thing didn't come with the 9-speed ZF trans like in the pilot upper trims.
Kinda the reason why I started looking at the Ridgeline. Its just enough truck. However, if I had the money for something not used with all of the features I would go Ranger.
It's just better unless you like to run your 35 to 40K investment through the woods and break stuff and scratch things then the ridgeline is heads above all the other midsize trucks for comfort and innovation
To all the people asking why this isn't a truck - First of all I really like this vehicle and I would buy one in a heartBeat. The ridgeline is not a truck because it doesn't have a frame, it doesn't have any solid axles and it is front wheel drive which means sideways tranny like awd cars. It's a car with a bed, which would be perfect for me and many others obviously. imo a truck needs either 2 solid axles like a classic cherokee or one solid axle and a ladder frame like older trackers, hummer H2, chev 1500, tacoma or wharever. Ultimate trucks are dual solid axle and full frame like classic Land Cruisers, F350's, Dodge diesel, unimogs etc...
The Ridgeline is a truck for the family type that like to bring all conveniences of living in a house, out camping. So instead of watching TV at home. You watch TV our in the wilderness.
No volume knob? Ugh, love the volume on my accord. Despite that it looks like a very good truck. Love my Honda but moving back to Texas, might have to pick this one up.
This is the perfect truck for tailgating, getting some small stuff from the hardware store, or even towing a car. Basic truck stuff. Sounds good to me. More of a "daily" truck than most imo
The biggest problem to the Ridgeline is the rear doors open too narrow and makes getting in and out cramped. No idea why Honda designed it that way. There is an easy hack that takes 30 mins to do to add an additional 5" inches of space. Here is how: ua-cam.com/video/_9-7ckh819o/v-deo.html
Micah, you're a racer. You should be asking the question the rest of us are asking: If I've got my Spec E30 / Spec Miata / etc. hooked up, I'm close to that 5k tow capacity. Can I now fill the bed up with several hundred pounds of tools / spares / wheels & tires / pit bikes / etc? Assuming a 10% tongue weight, that 500lbs puts me nowhere near the load limit. But I'm at the tow limit. Can you hook up your SM, load it up with a bunch of spares, and go tow over the Grapevine a few times for us? For journalism's sake--I'm sure KBB would pay for a track day at Buttonwillow for you.
Great review. However you can not play music from the truck bed speakers while the truck is in motion haha. I am one of those people who want a bed to throw the occasional large tv purchase or trash for a dump run and may tow a small trailer now and then, but prefer the luxury sedan feel. What I don't need is a "Traditional" truck.. you know the ones that ride like hell, eat gas, etc. etc. They do tow and haul like a boss, but hauling and towing aint my job. (If it were, Id still get a Raptor though). Found my truck.
I'd suggest the 2014-2017 over the 2021+ models. I'm not a huge fan of the new front end, and the ZF 9 speed automatic isn't a very great transmission either.
It's got some cool features like the tailgate and trunk but that's all I can see I would personally own one for. Tacoma is my preferred over any other midsized truck. I like the Colorado cause it offers a diesel which outperforms any gas v6 torque wise and fuel economy wise. But they're basically putting Tahoe transmissions in them. And they have air bag problems offroad
Even though I don't need a truck, I must say it's still a thousand times better than that old ugly design they had, yikes! I would definitely look into it if I needed a truck to daily in. I also love the fact that it's not a huge truck and like the old days small ones.
My boss has a ridgeline, I've got a 2005 Honda odyssey minivan. I had to tow one of the trailers, so he lent me his truck, and jaisus that thing drives exactly like my minivan (plus 80 more horsepower). If I get another Honda (i'm always leaning Subaru) this is definitely the truck I'll get.
only 1% of the people who buy trucks use it for heavy towing, the rest just uses it to haul air and 2 bags of fertilizers at most. Im not a truck guy but this is what i would buy because it has the practicality of a SUV just with a bed for those days u want to go camping or fishing.
Ah, men and their need to compensate with manly noises and a manly lack of comfort!! The Ridgeline kills it. A great truck for those who don't need to over-compensate!!!
Well, the fuel economy is a lot better than the last gen model, the big problem here, is now GM knows your fuel economy numbers and sitting in the wings is GM's new 3.6 V6 with (DOD) and (no stop and go, why), add the 8 speed auto (probably the new 10 speed auto, sometime down the road), and you equal if not beat the Ridgeline number (not to mention the diesel option), plus the GM twin tow more than it does, so, with the Honda Ridgeline unibody vs the others traditional body on frame midsize pickups, you would think gas mileage should be better, think about it, you're giving up over 1,800 (2,700 GM - diesel) lbs towing ability, here’s the different gas mileages: 2017 Honda Ridgeline fwd (19 c / 26 h / 22 c) ----- 2017 Honda Ridgeline awd (18 c / 25 h / 21 c) ----- 2014 Honda Ridgeline awd (15 c / 21 h / 17 c) ----- 2017 Chevy Colorado 2wd-V6 (18 c / 25 h / 20 c) ----- 2017 Chevy Colorado 4wd-V6 (17 c / 24 h / 19 c) ----- 2017 Toyota Tacoma 2wd-V6 (19 c / 24 h / 21 c) ----- 2017 Toyota Tacoma 4wd-V6 (18 c / 23 h / 20 c), glad they improved the gas mileage vs the last gen, seriously the last gen got similar mileage to a full size Chevrolet Avalanche, note I said full size, note, it has Honda's variable cylinder management (VCM), ok, just $70 more than the last gen model, but remember the last gen had awd standard, this model come in fwd and awd is an option (@ $1,800), so, really the new gen Ridgeland cost 1,870 more than the last gen model, the Nissan Frontier (aka Nissan Navara) it gets an asterisk (*) for being the oldest models here and a new model already available in some overseas markets, it will be interesting to see how the market is after the new Ford Ranger and Jeep pickup comes out, could Ford also be planning a Ford Explorer Sport Trac (remember the 2nd Ford Sport Trac featured a four-wheel independent suspension), would also be kind of nice for GM, too use GMC kind of like a Hummer substitute, meaning GMC needs more pickups and SUVs, it's crazy how well Jeep and Land Rover are doing, too bad GM sold the Hummer name, GM should have really done a Holden UTE or the GMC Denali XT concept pickup for GMC, now that’s an unibody customers would get behind, setup properly, meaning rwd based, no fwd here, either way the new Ridgeline does what Honda design it too do, yes, there are midsize pickups that tow more, are better off road and etc, but the Honda isn’t look for that, thus, the Honda Ridgeline, still the GM twins are the best overall, the Ridgeline has the best ride and Toyota is the best off road (I think the new Colorado ZR2 has something to say about this), end of the day, it’s pickup, so it will do pickup like stuff
My 2017 Ridgeline transmission needed replaced at 52,500 miles, according to the dealer. Very disappointed with the durability of this vehicle. Lost $1000.00 on the trade in.
I would like to have this truck in the Summer of 2020 when I’m 15 1/2 and during driving school because it has great features like good suspension & steering, bed audio, and other great features like a medium SUV 🚙 from 🇯🇵 Honda Pilot 👨✈️
Hey Micah, I would buy this Ridgeline just so I could Blast the TUNES back at every little pint sized Ricer on the road LOLOL. That was pretty cool! To bad about your smelly British Friend. Next time maybe he will shower! ;)
First, Micah says that he wishes the floorboard was flat while showing it as being flat already. Later on, he states that the "foot space" is flat. Wait...what?
not much different from my 2007 ridgeline. best features are the 2-way tailgate, the trunk, the plastic box, the folding rear seats and flat floor. The old one had all these things.
What classifies as a real truck to you truck fanatics? I'm seriously asking because I've never owned a truck. This 4x4 version that still has a bed and can pull some cargo seems to sure sound like a truck to me. Is it because it is smaller? Is it because it doesn't pull as much as another truck does albeit this still can pull some trailers? It has some nice features but because of that it is not a truck? I want a genuine answer please, not some truck bro flame rant. Thanks.
At 1:46 minutes, the reviewer says that the Ridgeline needs a "proper flat floor" when showing us the already flat floor. The verbage that this reviewer uses when describing the Ridgeline is so dam annoying. You don't have to use big words when reviewing trucks and/or to make yourself sound like an auto journalist. Smh...
If you have to retrieve something important from that in-bed cargo space and the bed is full of a payload, that is an obvious problem, and I'm one of many who have noticed this. I am a huge fan of Honda, have owned a few of their vehicles including my Accord I have now, but thumbs down on the Ridgeline until Honda does something with that inconvenient cargo bay
This is the perfect truck for people who don't tow heavy trailers or go off road. So basically the majority of truck buyers.
they can buy whatever they Want and they can use it for whatever they want
ZL1Gimpelson lol, so true. I think most just like the look.
Yeah but for some 'truck enthusiasts', buying from a Japanese company is not an option
John Dough Actually, the new Ridgeline was voted the MOST American made truck. Even though Honda is a foreign company, it employs more American labor in the manufacturing of the Ridgeline than the big three American companies do with their trucks. Ironic yes, but true.
Yeah and that accounts for 85-90% of American contractor workers in our country.
I test drove one the other week. Smooth, Powerful and Versatile! Interior is Solid and very well put together.
Ryan LIKE ALL HONDAS ARE.
Ryan did you end up buying it?
You said it best,”More than enough truck for most.”Great review, thanks.👍

@@SplittingHUNTER the biggest downside of the Ridgeline
The biggest thing I've had in the back of my truck was my atv. Every now and then a job site table saw and mitresaw and various hand tools. I don't off road, I don't plow and I don't tow 10,000 lbs. I tote the kids around, recycling and use it as a daily driver. This ridgeline is perfect.
Most pick up buyers would never need more than this. Wish they sold it globally
the smashmouth bit was hilarious!
you should watch the video with the Ferrari sound track
Quyen Le
penis
I honestly found it cringeworthy TBH.
Great review. Great truck. His reviews are #1 on youtube. KBB rocks.

Think I found my next truck!
I drove this the other day, and I love how good the handling is. Just use the steering wheel controls!
I love kbb reviews, very entertaining, funny and informative at the same time.
Cue the "It ain't a real truck" comments from the truck bro's.
I mean, technically speaking, this isn't actually a truck, as the definition of a truck is a utility vehicle that is built body-on-frame, and the bed must be separated from the cab. The Honda Ridgeline is unibody, and the bed is integrated with the cab.
luke witt actually later that year they did separate the body from the bed
My life is a lie!!!!!
Luke witt, actually TECHNICALLY it IS a truck! You might want to look up the definition of the word "truck".
A truck is not defined by if it has a unibody or not!
Not true this is one of the best trucks
You guys are great! Thank you for your funny and informative videos. I watch them every Monday!

I don't tow or haul so this would be perfect for me. basically I like how trucks look but not how they drive
Luke Hoisington all new trucks drive like a car.
Zach Novosad lol NOT
Zach Novosad Tundras don’t. They still feel super trucky.
Bought the Honda Ridgeline RTL-T. Why? Tho it cost a lot more than the Chevy Colorado the Ridgeline RTL-T have more to offer and really great gas milage. If you don't have a 4WD or AWD, then FWD is superior to RWD in the snow. My RWD Nissan Frontier is useless in snow or ice.
All those city people who drive trucks and don't actually use them for their intended purpose should opt for this!!
Nah, they're too busy driving F250s tuned to roal coal with big chrome rims and skinny tires.
Stetrain Fuck those people
I suppose they come with city slicker tires too.
SavageNightmare 1216 agreed. some people like trucks for there carrying capacities. or any other of there needs
novemberSUN1 I'd use this mostly for more storage
We have the pilot and it is awesome! Tight, smooth and has adequate power. Plus I'm glad thing thing didn't come with the 9-speed ZF trans like in the pilot upper trims.
Wow that Smash Mouth bit was hilarious lol
It made me cringe.
I love Micah's reviews
Kinda the reason why I started looking at the Ridgeline. Its just enough truck. However, if I had the money for something not used with all of the features I would go Ranger.
this ridgeline rides much smoother than my '15 3 series... it's funny that a pick up truck can ride more comfortable than a sedan
Bruh, I be blasting Chief Sosa using that truck bed audio!
I love everything about this truck but it's exterior look. Interior+ Canyon/Tacoma exterior I would drool over.
Every truck should have Nissans truck bed rails, those things are hella useful. Too bad that won't happen.
am not a truck guy but if i wer this would be the truck to buy
6:32 is that the breaking bad meth lab
Vault Boy OMG XD
So... this or a pilot? this just if you need a bed?
How does the honda sensing work when pulling a trailer?
3:06 Micah, do you not remember the Subaru Baja?
I guess he did 😅
I would pick this over a Tacoma because I can sit in it
Dalton Hill LOL
It's just better unless you like to run your 35 to 40K investment through the woods and break stuff and scratch things then the ridgeline is heads above all the other midsize trucks for comfort and innovation
It is a smooth ride, but I went with a Tacoma. I didn't realize how much respect you get from truck enthusiasts with the Tacoma.
This and the ford f150 are my two favorite pick up trucks
Oh wow this was shot in Cerritos
Good eye.
Micah Muzio yeah
The bed speakers and bed floor storage are very neat
The Ridgeline is a truck for the family type that like to bring all conveniences of living in a house, out camping. So instead of watching TV at home. You watch TV our in the wilderness.
Now they should do this for the compact truck market.
This pickup is best for storing more items than a car. Which is what I'd use a ridgeline for unlike any other pickup truck
can you put it in snow mode at any speed?
To say the least this is a helluvalot of innovation for a pickup
Love this review as I’m looking to replace our ‘06 Tundra. Good info. Nice job. btw. What are those Adidas’ that you are sporting? Thx
No volume knob? Ugh, love the volume on my accord. Despite that it looks like a very good truck. Love my Honda but moving back to Texas, might have to pick this one up.
This review was incredible.
How does this work you published it in 2016 but the vehicle your reviewing is from 2017
He mentioned Australia! Well the ute's will be gone after Holden exits production in Australia.
This is the perfect truck for tailgating, getting some small stuff from the hardware store, or even towing a car. Basic truck stuff. Sounds good to me. More of a "daily" truck than most imo
My parents have a ridgeline with the only model and color in Colorado
Very nice. .....would love to own one.
Why not making this in a hybrid version and increase MPG?!
Do 2017 Audi A4!! Please?
The biggest problem to the Ridgeline is the rear doors open too narrow and makes getting in and out cramped. No idea why Honda designed it that way. There is an easy hack that takes 30 mins to do to add an additional 5" inches of space. Here is how: ua-cam.com/video/_9-7ckh819o/v-deo.html
Can allowable tow capacity increased if adding a supercharger, & or trubocharger/s?
FOR8YESHUA yes with suspension upgrade
Micah, you're a racer. You should be asking the question the rest of us are asking:
If I've got my Spec E30 / Spec Miata / etc. hooked up, I'm close to that 5k tow capacity.
You've made an awfully compelling argument.
Use it to tow to champs!
saron11 I don't see why not. I'm planning on using mine to tow a porsche 944 and trailer
Going to buy one as soon as my wife gets home! Love it!
Great review. However you can not play music from the truck bed speakers while the truck is in motion haha. I am one of those people who want a bed to throw the occasional large tv purchase or trash for a dump run and may tow a small trailer now and then, but prefer the luxury sedan feel. (If it were, Id still get a Raptor though). Found my truck.
This would look good with a nice camper shell....I wish subaru would make a similar sized truck
I'd suggest the 2014-2017 over the 2021+ models. I'm not a huge fan of the new front end, and the ZF 9 speed automatic isn't a very great transmission either.
one of the better light-hearted reviews...
It's got some cool features like the tailgate and trunk but that's all I can see I would personally own one for. Tacoma is my preferred over any other midsized truck. did u buy ur GTR yet ?
Charles Choo waiting on the Z to sell buddy. Once it does we go shopping!
Wow,please make a vlog mate, cant wait to see ur GTR
Charles Choo yup, just taking my time, like fishing:)
Great video and I love this new Ridgeline!
It's based on the Pilot because it shares more parts than the Odyssey. From the B pillar on forward, including interior and front doors, it's a Pilot.
what is the name of the song at the end?
Had to give a thumbs-up for the "can I get out of the boot now" LOL
I love this guy's videos
only 1% of the people who buy trucks use it for heavy towing, the rest just uses it to haul air and 2 bags of fertilizers at most. Im not a truck guy but this is what i would buy because it has the practicality of a SUV just with a bed for those days u want to go camping or fishing.
To bad there is no remote for the bed trunk release and lock.
This video had me laughing, the Smash Mouth bit... 🤣🤣🤣
Your first step to Shrek, eh?
Ah, men and their need to compensate with manly noises and a manly lack of comfort!! The Ridgeline kills it. A great truck for those who don't need to over-compensate!!!
The only Honda I would buy
$10000.00
I would like to have this truck in the Summer of 2020 when I’m 15 1/2 and during driving school because it has great features like good suspension & steering, bed audio, and other great features like a medium SUV 🚙 from 🇯🇵 Honda Pilot 👨✈️
Better than my F150 any day.. Wish I stayed with Toyota but now this is available I will probably get one..
They should have offered heated rear seats in the U.S. version like they do for the Canadian market.
No volume remote is deal breaker.
This is the perfect truck for people who hate trucks but need them.
How did your English cameraman not pass out from the paint/glue/rubber fumes in the trunk?
0:37 😂😂😂 I love this truck and stupid channel 👍
The Ridgeline is like a pickup truck version of the Fit.
It actually is the pick-up truck version of the Pilot.
Hey Micah, I would buy this Ridgeline just so I could Blast the TUNES back at every little pint sized Ricer on the road LOLOL. That was pretty cool! To bad about your smelly British Friend. Next time maybe he will shower! ;)
Sang Eeth Yes, I know. But, I'm talking about the practical side like the roomy-ness, foldable back seats, storage space, cubby holes and what not.
Matthew Palanca In that perspective, yes. :)
It’s the top gear twingo review, there’s a man in the boot
very surprised not seeing 17 Ridgeline on the street
Honda needs to give the back a little more space. And make the back seat less upward.
fantastic review
First, Micah says that he wishes the floorboard was flat while showing it as being flat already. Later on, he states that the "foot space" is flat. Wait...what?
Great review!
My only critique is that you forgot, "if you know what I'm sayin" after "climbing the trim ladder".
not much different from my 2007 ridgeline. best features are the 2-way tailgate, the trunk, the plastic box, the folding rear seats and flat floor. The old one had all these things.
SOLD!!! My next Pickup Hands down
What classifies as a real truck to you truck fanatics? I'm seriously asking because I've never owned a truck. This 4x4 version that still has a bed and can pull some cargo seems to sure sound like a truck to me. Is it because it is smaller? Is it because it doesn't pull as much as another truck does albeit this still can pull some trailers? It has some nice features but because of that it is not a truck? I want a genuine answer please, not some truck bro flame rant. Thanks.
lol....in which dictionary did you get that definition? SMH
My only question...who would buy that?
masih belum boleh lawan nissan np300 lagi...
I don't like the idea of buying this car/truck. ..but the stupid thing just makes sense all around. ..come on Toyota do something!
no Toyota, don't... let the Ridgeline be the only.. you have the Tundra
Im not a fan of Hondas but the new ridgeline is going to be handy
At 1:46 minutes, the reviewer says that the Ridgeline needs a "proper flat floor" when showing us the already flat floor. The verbage that this reviewer uses when describing the Ridgeline is so dam annoying. You don't have to use big words when reviewing trucks and/or to make yourself sound like an auto journalist. Smh...
thank you for such a thoughtful and well reasoned review. because of it i now want the F150 even more.
Machi74005 but other trucks wouldn't even be able to carry anything there... so why is this a problem?
haha volume button not sure why every one has an issue with it its on the steering wheel
