Hey, thanks for this. I just unpacked my bike after a trip and it would only find the bottom 2 gears (smallest cogs). I watched this video and the part where you point out the cams and demonstrate by hand how it clicks back in was extremely useful. I checked on my bike, found the cams were out of place and so pushed the derailleur into a more extended position, it changed up to the biggest cog, made a click sound and now it seems to be fixed. I will try out on the road when it's daylight, but I'm pretty sure it's fixed. Genius!!!!

Very helpful. Lifting the chain up and moving it up a couple of chain rings and pushing the derailleur in at the same time fixed my problem. The derailleur started engaging again. The fact that it went into crash mode, however, without reason on a straight road is a bit disconcerting

The gist was to just ride and shift up and down the cassette!
Yes just pressing the button(s) a bunch worked for me. I was stuck in the smallest rear ring and I had to downshift even more. Unfortunately I found this after I pedaled home 😂 at least it was still shifting up front so it was smaller ring up front but smallest ring in back

Wow, I think this happened to me yesterday, though I didn’t have a crash. Fortunately it was early in my ride and I got home ok. Took it to a bike shop, they didn’t know what it was, but having hooked it up to a laptop, it seemed to work again.
Difficult to fix on your own out on a ride as you need to hold the bike up, spin the pedals and use the shifter, so need three hands. I suppose taking the chain off is going to be the only way to fix it on the road? With the chain off, can you just click it back into place without using the shifter?
My front 12 sp Di2 mech seems to have done this after throwing a chain badly. any idea if you can fix it at home mate?
How to fix when to parts are not linked at all:
- RD is not in the overlap/crash mode
- Outer part is completely off from the servo motor part, servo part no pushing slave part (but turning ok step by step from ST)
This happened on the rails or bumps after them. I believe slave part snapped somehow completely and can not be put inside on servo part.
Hi. Do you know any issue for taking an Ultegra 12v Di2 on a trainer? I have a Flux and I tried twice to put the bike on the trainer grabbing the derailleur with hand. The isuue is that it doesn't go up more than on the 21t cog. When I mount back the rear wheel the derailleur is in protection mode so I have to do the unprotection procedure.
