Noah is the real deal! And shoutout to Zakk
Zakk is the next CLA. We will all want to be him in 10 years
I want to be him now
The production on this whole Bad Omens record is probably the best one I've heard. Another super interesting record that I think you'd love is PHASES by a band called October Ends. They're not very popular but their production is off the charts, on my top records from last year just because of how amazingly it was produced.
Uh yesss their singer / producer Nick Thurl Mavromatis is a genius. Their new stuff after Phases just went to a whole other level. Joel you should react to one of their new songs man, I'd love to here what you think on their productions
Love this mix, it have been in my references since it came out. Thank you for breaking it down Joel and thank you for making me notice that heartbeat, I didn’t notice it!
The trade-off of the drums/guitar balance in the chorus compared to the intro was an eye opener for me. Really cool to hear automation in action like that
Looooove Bad Omens ! Thanks again for the content 🤌🏻
Been waiting for this one, thanks Joel!!!
Love this vid! Zakk really out there crushing it!
I didnt think I’d hear a mix I liked more than Sleep Tokens last album anytime soon, but this album is so damned fun to listen too.
Fab review Joel, got my pen and paper out to take some notes to apply to my own mixes. Thanks again!
All these lil nuggets of gold from you are helping me understand what's going on and what to listen for. Me likey.
Please keep the videos coming! Cheers from Belgium
Sick dude! Cheers from San Diego
Need more of these!!!!!
My roommates and i talk and trade music pretty often. Ive pointed out how badass and driving the dums in this song are
Cool I did’t pay attention to the datails of the song before, so nice!
I never noticed the drum sound change..damn Joel bringing his A-ear game here
mix is great, love these videos. maybe a periphery song next?
Awesome song, tbh « The Death of Peace of Mind » was one of my favorite albums of 2022
Yassssssss
High pass detector probably 100hz+ on th master comp. Allows you to comp everything else a couple extra DB, slamming snare down into everything else. Brilliant move. The snare is clearly more compressed than the kick
Love this series would be super great to see your opinion on Falling In Reverse “ Watch The World Burn” mix!
Where was this video 2 weeks ago when i was given this song as a reference and didn't get remotely close
can someone explain me what the hell he's tryna say at 7:45? Maybe my bad comprehension of english but i understand quite nothing of this technique :/
Love that snare. Sounds like a whip firing a shotgun
👍🏻👍🏻
Something cool I'd like to see if u haven't done it, but reacting to synthv or vocaloids
Not really a fan of Bad Omens but you definitely opened me to a different perspective.
if you were wondering why those distorted sine basses are called 808s, it's because hip-hop producers liked the punchy attack and long, subby tail-end of the TR-808 kick and would pitch the sample around to fill the role of a sub bass. The 808 kick is now so associated with that sound that people call those distorted sub basses "808s" regardless of how they're produced.
Yes I'm aware.
