This Rolex watch stopped during Richard Hammond's Rimac crash

- It was a crash that shook the world of entertainment back in 2017, and Richard Hammond has a momento sitting in his clubhouse that constantly reminds him just how big a shunt his Rimac crash was. In this video, Richard gives us a tour of his 'shelf of things', including numerous artefacts from his Top Gear and Grand Tour escapades, the pick of the bunch being a charred, broken Rolex watch.

The Rolex being sent back in that presentation box is so very on brand for Mate Rimac. What a guy.
Mate Rimac just might be the best guy...in the world.
I still remember that episode when he got it back 😂
old mate Rimac
It did since the episode when jeremy broke the box before he take it to him...
The savagery of the comment 😂 passive aggressive it’s awesome
"That's just another crash helmet, that's just something I like having around"
He may be accident prone but at least he's prepared
Vast experience has taught him well
😂😂😂
I think what we'd all love to see is the three (May, Clarkson and Hammond) sat round a table going through their Top Gear/ Grand Tour memories and talking about the best bits!!
YES
Definetly
And Andy Wilman too, I would say
Richard is the fun uncle we all wanted right?
Funcle.
@@FoCoPuffs yes that too
@@24k__J lol fun sucker
I kind of want the other two to do a video like this, of some of their memorabilia and trinkets
James’ would be 5 hours long. 🤣
@@johnsonsl944 "now here's the left suspension spring from my 2015 Dacia Sandero, now the funny thing about this particular spring, is that instead of having 16 turns, this one only has 15, due to a factory error, which brings me onto my next point..."

Richard is a national treasure!
What a fantastic individual and presenter
American national treasure
National? We Yanks appreciates him too.
@@jameshisself9324 ahah no way really? Glad to hear that, didn't know he was big there as well!
@@rg6982 top gear doesn’t do as well anymore in the states without those 3. They try and remake it with new hosts for American market every few years. It never lasts long. Clarkson, gamine, may, always the best by far.
The only person for whom when you're talking about their crash, you have to specify which one
in a weird way, i feel as though this shelf holds memories of our own too. i mean, most of us have watched them our whole lives.
the kid pic of Hammond at 2:54 had me on the floor
I love that you’re as proud of your past as we are. Thanks again for letting us into your personal life, if only just a little.
Richard seems like the type of guy I could happily sit down and have a beer with, and once we started talking you would lose a day but come away with a new friend
I can listen to this man for hours and not get bored
That Rolex is a part of automotive history. Richard utterly demolishing that Rimac concept was the moment where everything changed for the company, and now they own Bugatti, and make some of the most impressive and innovative vehicles in the world.
I like how he has a huge house in the countryside but keeps his most memorable things in a small plain shelf. 😂
So glad he remembers Brainiac that was the one show on Sky One I would watch EVERYDAY when it came on when I was younger. I basically grew up watching Richard Hammond and to this day he’s still one of my favourite presenters ever to grace British television
That show was my introduction to Richard Hammond and I only really started watching Top Gear because he was in it. I then fell in love with that show and the rest is history. It also meant that I learned to hate caravans long before I watched Top Gear where they explained the reason why
I would just enjoy Hammond just talk about stuff that interest him if I were there. I would never leave.
You, James May & Guy Martin ... I could watch/listen to the 3 of you ramble on about virtually anything!
Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
Wow, Richard, that album your parents made for you of your childhood photos is wonderful. When I was in my mid-40s, my mom just shoved all the stuff from my childhood into my hands and told me to get it out of her house. She's been gone 7 years and I haven't missed her one second. You are a lucky man.
Shouldn’t think anyone visiting Hammond’s shelf of stuff in person would mind hearing him take the scenic route down memory lane again.
Richard Hammond is an angel. A sweet legend. Thank you for your existing
"Made in Switzerland, carefully perfected on 10th June 2017 by the British"
I laughed quite a bit at that.
Pretty brilliant joke, really. I don't typically associate the Swiss with people that have a sense of humor, but there you are.
Love all your videos guys, but this has been my favorite. PLEASE go through the books on your shelf for us, Richard. I'd love to know what's worthy of hanging out on your bookshelf.
Brought tears to eyes, what a super collection of "life's moments". Outstanding.
Nice chap. No swearing. Speaks well and articulate.
Richard Hammond can't even build a Lego car without losing the wheels. He should just keep it on its roof with some Lego paramedics running towards it to cut his trousers.
😂😂😂😂
He is correct about the felt and straw rule in Texas. The general rule is to wear felt in autumn and winter but wear straw in summer and spring. Yet, I have seen people do whatever they want to do. Carol Shelby wore a black Stetson all year long!
Absolutely LOVE these videos showing Hammond’s life outside of TV
The memories ….. nice to see and what a cool way too display those important moments Richard. You sentimental old man, just like me.
Excellent video, very interesting and nice to see your successful career, would love to see Jeremy’s cabinets over his years..
It would just be huge mess
Love the talk through the bookshelf of show-tat plus the more meaningful memories, and, by-the-by, very nice house, too.
Greetings from Mozambique 🇲🇿🇲🇿 Richard, still appreciate the foto you took with my son at the hotel! He is now studying automotive engineering in Arnhem, Netherlands!😀
This is such a great video. Thank you for making this, it's so great hearing Hammond just babble on about things he loves.
for anyone curious about the bass, i did a bit of researching on it. it appears to be a custom-spec Status Shark, based on the pickguard design and the headstock logo you can more easily see in TG S20E1. i can find pictures of a 4 string model with specs almost matching this one, but i couldn't find an exact match.
Thanks!!
I was curious as to what it was.. i thought it was an Alembic for a split second
Then remembered if it was it would be bigger and heavier than him.
Yup, status shark, cool basses, I own the status energy which is closely related to it.
Thanks i was curious!! Looks like a lovely Bass...
not too badly priced either.
Thank you for sharing this. This was excellent
if I was lucky enough to visit Richard Hammond at his house I would 100% listen to him talk about his things on his shelf again even though I watched this whole video.
I don't think you mentioned it but I believe that helmet on the top right shelf in camouflage was worn in a particular show about 3 old men falling over, traveling from Iraq to Bethlehem and you were in a pretty little Fiat.
Props Richard 👌🏼 appreciate , respect and admire you explanation of the Rimac crash , I watched it over about 10 times straight... You said it perfectly 💙
What a guy. Amazing person. Love all the content you create and the other two just make it even better
Great look around and some obviously great memories.
I would just travel to his home and listen to ALL his stories 😁😁
I'm so glad Rimac has a great sense of humor and doesn't seem to bear any ill will towards you.
4:50 Hammond talking about full size things is hilarious 😂
You know, out of every well known person out there, id always choose Richard for a cup of tea and a chat. Kind of grew up with the guy being on all them shows! But anyway, definitely a very interesting collection.
Absolutely loved Braniac! Great memories of sitting with my family watching it….very happy times that seem so long ago…yet like it happened yesterday. Thank you for the memories Richard 😊
I aboslutely love simple videos like this
I totally forgot that Hammond was a host of crash course and Brainac, so much memories unlocked 😍🤣
This episode was considerably longer than I thought it would be
haha that perpetual bike crashing/swimming in mud was the best ep , not just you crashing... again and again...and again...and again ...but also james getting soaks again and again.....and again... and again ... especialy when you moved the tarp he had setup to stop it 🤣🤣🤣
That Rolex story is the best
Actually being sent back and presented after
Amazing story!! Thank you for sharing!
Absolutely my favourite of the trio.
Nah Hammond is not just haha funny, man is genuinely hilarious
Thanks for the considerate video Richard, however if it was ever possible (and reasonable and invited only) I'd come visit and get the shelf tour in person 🍻🍻
Love your work 👍
You know it was very big crash when even your Rolex watch stops working.
I've never hit on a video this fast before. Drivetribe video with Rolex in the title, I still have no idea what the rest of the words were... We need more horological videos from the three watch-nerds whom just also happen to like cars and gin, and found a way to make a career out of it together...
Edit: That Rolex Sea-Dweller has a water resistance of 1200 meters, too bad it's heat resistance isn't as impressive... Still, what a great memorabilia from such a traumatic moment.
Would be a great thing for a channel like watch revival to restore it. There have been much worse ones brought back to life.
@@harry-eto yes, that would actually be a nice idea. I like his videos. But also, that's sort of like restoring Jimi Hendrix' burnt Stratocaster from Monterey in '67. The scars and scratches of the item is what makes it unique and part of its story. Restoring it would just take it back to be just another Rolex Sea-Dweller.
@@raven_of_zoso455 i personally think it should be sent off for restoration but only a movement service, so the watch retains all of its scuffs and damage for memerobilia while also having a working watch
@@razaali3150 Great idea. Dont send it to Rolex though, it will come back like new!
I love Captain Slow’s watch collection, especially his Milgauss, Hamilton’s and old Omegas
Oh man, I`d love to get that Rolex working again....what a project for a watch-geek like myself. Keep doing what you enjoy & keep safe!
horologist?
@@gewglesux Haha! Never seen myself as a horologist, only as a watch hobbyist who fixes mechanical watches I`ve made the mistake of buying in the first place!
Way cool ! Great collection
Hammond: "Bass is not a solo instrument."
[Charles Berthoud has entered the chat]
love the channel
You have to do watch collection videos for all 3 presenters. That would be amazing!!
Brilliant video!
Love the tours!
That Status Quo tele is what my dreams are made of. Brillint video!
Hello Hammond!! Very happy you are alive, as you are thankful. I love your Lego Land Rover (did you see there are two different sets?). 🙂😊🚙
I've bought that Lego Land Rover twice and still not got round to building it, well done for tackling it with a few beers, many forums and YT videos have been made about how tough it is to get it right
I would sit through this again in-person. Most of my trinkets don't have cool stories behind them and I wish they did.
*No mention of that French military helmet on the top shelf???*
Well, you just mentioned it, bro!
I'm not sure it's French, though...
(Although I might've been able to have a more informed opinion about it if I'd watched the video and actually seen the helmet.)
*Polite Request…*
Can we please get some anecdotes from Richard’s time on Brainiac? I really, really loved that show!
Would love to see a video in which hammond is playing bass and guitar
Words can describe how badly I want to be this man's friend
Thanks for the trip down memory lane 🤟
I was just at buttermere. Probably my favourite lake also, lovely walk.
"Carefully perfected by on 10th June 2017 by the British"
i lost it
I would travel out there to have this Show and Tell live.
8:06 ‘this this thisa these are cars’ -richard hammond, 2023
Oh boy would I love to meet Richard Hammond.
That F1 model is just epic 😅
I love this new style of video
I thought I was watching something else with that intro 😭😭😭
What a time to be alive ⏰
Am I the only one that would do anything to sit in richards House and listen to him talk about all of his stuff including his books 😂
I love that Landy Lego, have the same thing sitting on top of my PC case with the winch acting as an anti sag bracket for my GPU.
I would like to go and visit Richard to test the "if you come to see me you won't have to sit through the what's on the shelf explanation because you watched the video" statement 😄
Loved seeing that nod to Brainiac, as a kid I used to watch this on tv after coming home from school
I really liked Brainiac, and that show you were doing about engineering connections.
So if Richard has the logger hat as a souvenir from Crash Course; does he also have the Dragon Racing INDYCAR pit crew overalls?
What we can come visit and have a sit down while looking at your shelves?? PERFECT!!! I'll be right over 😁
I'd love a look around the whole house and grounds, if you're ever willing to share (you can miss some bits out, but I'd love to see if you have a fancy bath - that's my dream to have with my health problems and I figured that you'd need your aching joints and muscles easing too).
In any case, great to have a view of your stuff. Thanks Richard.
we need, no DESERVE just an hour of richard talking about motorcycles.
Fabulous stuff and great video, but I couldn't have been the only one who expected a massive rant when the topic of horses came up.
I feel like if it had been May we'd have been given an earful about horses, he's had worse experiences with them. Hammond is more likely to rant about boats
@@cleverusername9369 Hammond did a rant about horses that was both intensely personal and had both Clarkson and May laughing. It's on here somewhere.
Richard, the wheels you are missing for your lego land rover if you go to the back of your instruction manual, there is section where you can order missing parts to complete it
The most interesting video of a shelf ..do you have any more 🤣
This is best content ever
Such an amazing place 👌🏼🤙🏼☝🏼 Well well earned!!!
Lovely to see the display cabinet hadn't been dusted 😂
That guitar ❤❤❤
I want to hear more Hammond playing bass
i have only seen the one video on YT when he was on with the other lot
Thank you.
I'm a fan of you and the other two guys, the orangutan and capt Slow, but I'm a bigger fan of your juvenile excesses.
Orangutan and captain slow 😂😂😂😂😂 man 😂😂😂

You cant be fan of mr slow. He is the outcast.
@@majortom4543 it's "Captain" Slow if you please.🤨
