The Follow Focus F60 by SmallRig is a modular system with plenty of ways to adjust and fine-tune for what’s needed on a specific camera setup. The unit features stepless damping adjustment, virtual and hard stop marks, a forward and reverse switch and multiple ways to mount the manual follow focus. In this review Moritz from Fenchel & Janisch takes a closer look at all the different features and settings. The manual focus system can be used with photo lenses or cine lenses.

I still remember when I got my first Small-Rig cage when nobody knew them and now 7 years later they are one of the biggest and coolest tech companies.
unfortunately the F60 uses way too much plastic in its construction for me. The Fotga DP500iii, entirely constructed using CNC machined aluminium, with a soft touch rubber coating on the large, aluminum focus wheel, well, it's just a cut above SmallRig offerings at this price point.
Always stunned by your ability to showcase a simple piece of gear in such high-class way.
Such an amazing well thought out and filmed review !! Lovely work as always
Wieder ein hervorragendes Video, eines unserer Lieblingskanäle. Sehr elegante Aufnahmen! Und vor allem auch ein sehr elegant designtes Produkt.
You guys keep those videos comin'!!
didnt expect them to release a manual focus gear unit but this looks solid
It's mostly made of ABS composite plastic. Get one of the other units out there that's mostly made of CNC machined aluminium; such as the Fotga DP500 iii - which is entirely machined from Aluminium, even the large focus wheel, which is then covered with a nice, soft rubber grip, and offers more adjustability and functionality, or go for the Shape LW Follow Focus, which is also built to a far higher spec than the smallrig offerings.
The best video I've found so far on this item! Excellent Review! Now I have to check out your other videos!
Magnificent captures and stunning editing.
I am heading to NAB later today and look forward to checking out this one in person!
You should teach a lighting and cinematography class the shot at 5:15 is simply perfection.
yo man never tired of you dope content
awesome and pro content as I expected from you.
Got it. Love it.
beautiful work.
Next week is my bday and I think this is gonna be on the top of my wish list.
Damn DAMPING I've been waiting for this for years FINALLY.
Especially since it actually works and is not just a random feature.
Seems like spring is coming to Frankfurt :)
The new tripod and the F60 look staggering would have loved to take a closer look at NAB but no time this year.....
Currently catching up on your last few videos and I it seems like I missed the announcement of the F60. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. 🔥
It's not a bad little follow focus. That said, for those willing to pay out a little extra, I would highly recommend the Fotga DP500 iii follow focus. The build quality is a cut above the offerings from SmallRig and Tilta etc with no plastic in sight, all CNC aluminium constructon and a soft touch rubber wrapped focus wheel,, it has more professional features and is highly adjustable.
That said, if someone were to plump for the smallrig or similar, they won't be disappointed either.
Nothing better than binge-watching some F&J content!
Thanks David.
Wirklich elegantes Design!!
Das stimmt!
We mainly use auto focus for our YT content but this makes me want to get a follow focus and shoot like a pro :-)
The first thing I do when you upload is turn on my TV to watch the video on a big screen.
Tested this at NAB and the wooden texture was such a mistake. Its less grippy vs rubber. Always slippery when you got sweaty hands/fingers. Surely aesthetically it looks nicer but yeah i will always prefer rubber or some other material that has more grip than wood
Really? Of course this is very subjective to each user but I preferred it. Nonetheless I always think it's best to try products in real life to see if they're the right fit.
@@FenchelJanisch2 I mean, if they just kept the original wheel only it wouldve been great. Not sure why you need to pick wood.
First comment ;)
You guys keep those videos comin'!!
We try our best.
