I really love how you follow your gut with things like the fireplace mantle. You didn't feel locked in just because you'd asked your boyfriend's opinion or even by a poll you placed online. When you were actually working on the project and felt drawn toward another direction you hadn't considered before, you went with it. Can't tell you how many projects of mine I've gone into with a very specific plan, only to end up detouring partway through when I saw a better path. The result is almost always so much better than what I'd aimed for at the beginning. Following your creative spirit is everything!
Yeah the balance of taking in feedback and going with my gut is a huge learning curve for me lately. I’ve spent so much of my life trusting my own instincts and not caring what anybody else thinks… and that’s served me well. But I don’t always know the right thing… and I’m human… and I want my boyfriend, my family, and my viewers to love my space too! So it’s definitely a balance
Love how much your parents help out! What wonderful memories you are creating! Also keep up the amazing work so exciting to see everything come together! ❤
This is one of the channels that I always get very excited about every thime a new video is posted. There is more creativtiy and artistry in your work than on any other channel in this genre on UA-cam. Even when I am not sure where you are going in your design, it is always unbelievebly impressive when you get to the end of the pieces that you are working on. The worktable is super and the fireplace is going to be gorgeous when you complete it. I love this channel.
This is your home, but THANK YOU for preserving the raw wood! It is gorgeous! Maybe some art with touches of green above the fireplace? Love the countertop extension over the table & filing cabinets. You have a heart of an artist.
18:23 I am so glad that you are leaving the wood of the mantel more raw! As you were showing the process of sanding and removing paint, I was so struck by the beauty of the wood as it is, and I’m happy to think of it staying close to that look!
The universe delivered on your table legs! Brilliant!! I am so impressed not only with the unique aesthetic of your home but its singular functionality which suits your needs. It’s so perfect for you. I’m watching how hands on your parents are with this process and how one day you’ll look at the features of your home and remember this time together and how much they were involved in the creation of this reno. It’s priceless in so many ways. What a gem.
Your creativity is awesome. I love the free legs. I think your mantle is beautiful raw and your art above it is a perfect match. I think your curtain should hang inside your window. It’s all unique and stunning.
This is my very favorite room that you are renovating! I am also an artist with the very good fortune to have a studio to work in. I absolutely love your aesthetic. You have the two most important elements in place - plenty of work surfaces and plenty of storage. It is all looking beautiful. As for the curtains, I am suggesting something inside the window frame. Perhaps some kind of Roman shade. I can't wait to see the final reveal and more videos of you creating your fantastic works of art! ❤ from Prescott, AZ
I am so impressed with you realizing you could use that bed frame for the legs. Bravo. I like the bare wood on the fireplace, good choice. You have such wonderful and talented parents.
Thank you for taking us through your thought process from inception to completion! I enjoyed a hearty cackle when your horrified reaction to the price tags on those legs was replaced by the triumphant grin of a creative and inveterate dumpster diver/thrifter. Sadly, my epic fist pump went unwitnessed. I was really hoping you wouldn't darken the fireplace, and you didn't let me down! Second fist pump in half an hour, which has to be some kind of record for me. The new desk looks great, and the drop cloth curtain is a perfect choice. Personally I'd keep the drape within the confines of the window frame. Terrific episode, Andrew! Loved every second of it!
The fireplace is exquisite! The tile is a wonderful choice. I applaud your decision to keep the mantel natural. While it may not be perfect, the character of the wood deserves to shine. The work table is a true trash-to-treasure moment and you made it blend in your eclectic studio space.
I love that you were able to save at least the footboard of that so beautiful (imo) bed frame. This might be my favorite of all your projects thus far. Good job!
The fireplace looks fabulous! You def made the right call on leaving the wood raw, it fits the vibe so well. The use of the headboard legs for the work space was inspired and really helped soften the room. I vote you stick with the drop cloth curtain but hem to fit inside the window. Big shout out to Dad for the clean cuts on the fireplace tile, looks beautiful!
I love how you highlighted the height in the room with that tall ladder, the large picture frame that goes up high and the desk. Such a wonderful space to create in.
Love the table by the window, maybe have the curtain length just below the window sill. Fireplace looks great so far, can’t wait for the reveal. Your grandfathers tripod turned into a lamp is amazing, I enjoy pieces like that
I’m so glad you went with your gut on the fire. It’s beautiful and, I think, my favourite part of the room. I really enjoy watching you explain your thought processes.
Wow! Genius using the bed columns! The fireplace is spot on even tho I adore green lol something about that amazing couch and wonderful tripod lamp creation that adds glass! Your finish decor is a welcoming gesture for anyone to enter and turn on their creative juices! ❤❤❤ 💯
You made the right decision on your fireplace finish. It looks really nice with the wax. I love the curtain but it needs to be hemmed at the sill. Your hair looks particularly gorgeous this episode!
I really look forward to your vlogs Andrew. You are creating such a unique home full of your own personality. Filling your home with things you love and have created is so much more interesting to watch than someone who redecorates every 6 months to be on trend. Fill your home with things you love and it will never go out of fashion.
Trim the curtain to fit the window. I think the green color mentioned would look incredible on the floor, and would help ground the space as they eye tends to go up and out due to the tall ceilings. The space feels like it needs plants, or a few soft touches like larger pillows or an exotic printed bean bag.
aw, sweet! I love the engineering aspect of that window-front work counter, plus cutting out the window moulding to fit the countertop! Very nice all 'round!
oh Andrew, leave it to you to make anything poetic and get me teary eyed. (re: the fireplace). i love the drop cloth curtain and the desk, so beautiful in its utility and functionality. i say hem the curtains just above the floor so you don't accidentally catch them on anything while you're working. PS- the transition from panning up on the fireplace to panning down on the curtain/desk was *chef's kiss*
Haha I’m so glad you enjoyed that transition! I was proud of that one 😂 And yeah the natural wood felt poetic and emotional for me too… so I’m glad that was conveyed! I love your comments! ❤️
Your design style is not only highly artistic but uniquely masculine. I appreciate that spin. A lot of homes with vintage items can lean feminine/romantic (or eclectic/collector/neutral) so it's interesting to see an interior with an undercurrent of masculine energy.
this is so interesting. i've noticed that too but hadn't put words to it. i like this specific representation of masculine interiors. i've recently followed a couple other youtube channels b/c i want to see something different in the home decor space.
Very interesting perspective Laura! And I totally see what you mean! So many people that are creating vintage spaces really lean into the feminine… which is cool too. But I’m super inspired by vintage barber shops, wood shops, and lounges that carry that masculine edge
Love what you did in the Studio, the combination of material, color and accessoires and make it a complete ! What you did with fireplace is the best choice by waxing and keep the place original. I am a bit jealous on your creativity but you are getting all the credit !!!!
Leaving it natural was a great choice! Making me thing I want to strip my fireplace down to the wood too! I’ve used the Howard Feed N Wax on wood finishes and I highly recommend it! Just makes the wood pop!
WHAT A SCORE on the fireplace tiles...love em. Using the bedposts as table legs is just another example of your witchcraft, Andrew, and I am here for it. The curtain: use a tie-back to create a bit of a swag witchcraft will enhance the bit of softness you wanted for that area and echo the curves in the legs.
I love your decision for leaving the mantel natural with dark wax. Everything is really coming together. I love your creativity and leaning in to what you love and do best!
You really did well with the dumpster find! Love how you share your thought process, it really translates right through. Having a “moment of clarity” makes everything feel just right. Creating this unique and beautiful space is your natural talent. Looking forward to the next video.
Absolutely brilliant! The table is gorgeous. I didn’t vote on your instagram pole about the fireplace because I couldn’t choose. I think leaving it the raw wood is the perfect decision. I love the dropcloth as a curtain for that space.
Love the progress ❤. My suggestion for the curtain is to fit it to the window sill. Since it is inset and behind the counter it makes sense. It'll make it much easier to sweep / keep clean since that amazing counter doesn't move. Great job as always!
Your creativity amazes me!😊keep the curtain inside the casing all the way down. I love the way the studio looks like it has always been there, eclectic but perfect for the studio work space. Well done😊
*Table Legs, Mantle, Window Dressing* . I have neither the tools or carpentry skill set to create what you and Pops created, but it's Gosh Darn Great Inspo! I can definitely envision the mantle in an olive green. That was a lot of work to strip it back and I appreciate and applaud your choice to keep it natural. For the window, I would go with an inside mount roman shade, bide your time for that "perfect" fabric. The drop cloth serves it's function, trim it to the bottom of the sill.
Good choice with the fireplace finish! There are enough natural wood items in the space for them to play off each other really nicely. The industrial finish works well, too. You probably already know this, but leave lots of fabric on the drop-cloth window cover hem to give it weight and help it hang well. Living with it unhemmed for a while will help you decide what length to finish it.
Fun video! Great call fireplace it's GEORGOUS😲! Fantastic deal on the tile. Love the chunky turned legs for $ .0 !! This weird coincidence blew my mind. My own dad had done a similar project for me 10 years ago. He converted a large butcherblock turned leg kitchen table into a counter height Art room island for me! He made some turned wood extensions and then added them too the turned legs to make them longer/taller, I love it.
Brilliant re-use of the the bedposts, & I was hoping you'd recognize the honesty of the fireplace's raw wood look. Are dropcloths the best thing since chocolate & peanut butter? Yes! I have a wall of 10-foot windows in my house & I'd have spent a fortune getting custom draperies & the sun (despite double-pane glass) would have eaten any normal fabric alive. They have hung for 7 years, look like expensive linen fabric, are indestructible, & I put them in my very window-ed living room, too. Love the room.
Hey Andrew. The countertop looks like it was always meant to be there, love the legs though little bit chunk. For curtains how about some kind of roll up shades (maybe you could DIY them - Lone fox channel) or Café Curtains (like Macenna has in her home). Love the fireplace and what you did with it! Cannot wait for the full reveal including the floors. Appreciate how you designed the space for functionality and budget as well not just aesthetics 💜
I love the fireplace and I would leave the curtain as it is and maybe give yourself a way to pull it to one side with a tie back option too that is functional but not a show item. You have given me the bed idea for my Dads tripod now and I make lampshades with my own prints so that is a future project inspired by you. For the legs I would have tried different size wooden balls (like giant beads) if I could find them. Well done, love your work. From Ireland ❤️
You do such beautiful, intentional work. For the curtain, what about a small rod tension rod on the top and the bottom. It would keep the material taut and still allow you to open the curtains.
Wow, the awesome work you and your parents did restoring that fireplace! I love your creative work area you are making- so inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
I really love your vision with all of the pieces shown here. I am so glad you stick to your gut feeling of how the materials all work together. As for the curtain length, it looks great as is and putting anymore effort isn't a fair trade in my book. ( And high water curtains just don't swag nice for me) But as always, you do as you feel finishes the window best. Studio space coming along brilliantly!😻
Your solution for the spool legs was genius and a bit of luck. Everything turned out beautifully. I really like the fireplace. I enjoy your channel. Thanks
I love this room!! Excellent call to leave the fireplace natural, it looks beautiful. And I’d leave the dropcloth long, it gives a nice bit of softness to see it billowing on the floor. Great job, I’d probably never leave this room if it were mine 😆
Great job on the curvy legs and the whole extended work area. It's my favorite. Like the drop cloth curtain. I would cut its off at the sill. The raw fire place is perfect. You have a great imagination. I found a great dresser at one of the Restore in the Chicagoland area. It's funny I often buy things there and they don't work and I re-donate them.
At one point I thought you were going to sand back all the curvy legs and I inwardly groaned at the amount of work in that and then - genius! You blended the stain! ❤ I am really liking the long length of the curtain for some reason, cant put my finger on why but I do.
A video from Andrew, yay! Love your creativity and eclective style! I would have some type of blind in the window, the type that foldes softly when you pull it up. I also think you should have a large plant next to the sofa for example, there is a lack of greenery in the room I feel. But boy, what a fantastic home you are creating!
I agree with the boyfriend too. Im giving my cupboards a fresh coat of matte over tacky gloss. Theyre all black and to break it up i added a dark grey paint to some of the trim. Consider a light stain to help your shelves stand out? In time it will fade if you dont like it. :)
Lovely decisions, and the hours put into making thrifted/discounted/found items your own is always impressive. Thank you for continuing to share your vision. OK, I think the curtain might be most productive at or near sill height, since it's being cinched by the countertop already. Also, with that workspace being a fitted piece, having the dropcloth pool to the ground will be an debris collector. Finally, if you decide to open the window for any reason, the shorter length makes it a bit more accessible. Hey, is that an open vent in the floor under the window?
it's looking wonderful. have you thought about adding, now that you're keeping the fireplace so light, something dark high on the wall above it? something long and thin perhaps? like an old sign, or some such?
Your table looks way better than the boujee inspiration one...the upcycled legs look amazing!!! Aesthetically the drop cloth pooling on the floor is cool, but cut to to the window sill will work as well and not so much to fuss with when opening and closing it. I love the decision to leave the beautiful aged wood color of the fireplace. My only question is what are you planing to do to cover the expanding foam in the firebox?
Great question! My short term solution for the foam will be to shave it to appear more like the bricks and paint it to blend. We’ll see how well that goes… seems a little gimmicky but I don’t really want to spend the time or money to do a more thorough repair right now
Generally if they’re mounted inside the window, I would prefer the drapes to fit within the window sill…. But seeing the space I kind of dig them grazing the floor as you have them. Looks more relaxed and informal and kind of marries all the varying heights.
I love it. What a great workspace this is with real character, blending old with new. Now that the work table is installed, can you open that window for ventilation if needed? Anyway, super looking space.
Unfortunately the window is not functional. Maybe at some point I’ll be able to restore the windows to functional status… but right now that’s too expensive 😭
On the curtain keep the width and fold the top to allow you to keep the length should you change your mind on what you want in the space as your curtain, you will still have a full drop cloth to use.
Definitely gonna try this! One of my favorite inspiration rooms has huge tall windows with a hodge podge of different canvas type curtains… and I love how carefree and unassuming that feels. Hemming a curtain feels too precious somehow
Ignore my opinion if you just think it’s intrusive…..however, I would hang the the artwork over your fireplace instead of leaning it on the fireplace the top even with the installation on the right hand side of the fireplace and then merchandise that shelving unit with something interesting books???, or art supplies…..whatever-and I would lean a piece of art or layer a couple of pieces of art over that mirror…. Just my opinion, of course.

Aw thank you!
It looks like the workspace of a steampunk inventor. I love all of the projects in this episode.
I love your take on this space! 🙌🏻

The fireplace is beautiful, I like the natural wood tones. Sourcing table legs for the work table, pretty clever and it looks great. Very nice!
Your creativity is awesome.
I love the free legs. I think your mantle is beautiful raw and your art above it is a perfect match.
I think your curtain should hang inside your window. It’s all unique and stunning.
You are amazing and so lucky to have your parents around to help you with your project.
Haha always love your commentary David 😂🙌🏻
The fireplace is exquisite! The tile is a wonderful choice. I applaud your decision to keep the mantel natural. While it may not be perfect, the character of the wood deserves to shine. The work table is a true trash-to-treasure moment and you made it blend in your eclectic studio space.
I love that you were able to save at least the footboard of that so beautiful (imo) bed frame. This might be my favorite of all your projects thus far. Good job!
Aw thanks! I’m glad you loved this one!

Thanks Lisa! Yeah I’m definitely thinking of cropping the curtain!
I love how you highlighted the height in the room with that tall ladder, the large picture frame that goes up high and the desk. Such a wonderful space to create in.
Love the table by the window, maybe have the curtain length just below the window sill. Fireplace looks great so far, can’t wait for the reveal. Your grandfathers tripod turned into a lamp is amazing, I enjoy pieces like that
LOVE LOVE LOVE the tripod lamp and that you're keeping a part of your grandfather in your design style.
The tile around the fireplace is so beautiful. LOVE!
Howdy Andrew!! Fantabulous creation!!! Hope you've been keeping warm in this artic blast!! Big hugs from Kenny Ohio USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You made the right decision on your fireplace finish. It looks really nice with the wax. I love the curtain but it needs to be hemmed at the sill. Your hair looks particularly gorgeous this episode!
The fireplace is stunning! This must be such a good room to work in.
I really look forward to your vlogs Andrew. You are creating such a unique home full of your own personality. Thank you so much!
oh Andrew, leave it to you to make anything poetic and get me teary eyed.
I vote for trimming the curtain to the windowsill height. That will prevent it from ever inadvertently blocking the heating register.
Totally 👍🏻
Your design style is not only highly artistic but uniquely masculine. I appreciate that spin. A lot of homes with vintage items can lean feminine/romantic (or eclectic/collector/neutral) so it's interesting to see an interior with an undercurrent of masculine energy.

Love what you did in the Studio, the combination of material, color and accessoires and make it a complete ! What you did with fireplace is the best choice by waxing and keep the place original. I am a bit jealous on your creativity but you are getting all the credit !!!!
The mantle looks perfect, you definitely made the right decision. This is a room that I’d love to create in. Well done to you all.
Thank you! ❤️
The counter looks great, very good use of space! Mom and Dad❤
Perfection!!! That fireplace is so great. Genius idea for your bobbin legs!! I would cut the curtain length to fit inside the window.
Leaving it natural was a great choice! Making me thing I want to strip my fireplace down to the wood too! I’ve used the Howard Feed N Wax on wood finishes and I highly recommend it! Just makes the wood pop!
Thanks for the recommendation!
I love your studio! It's giving me medieval / withcer 3 vibes but with an modern twist. Looking forward to when the floors are done!

I love your decision for leaving the mantel natural with dark wax. Everything is really coming together. I love your creativity and leaning in to what you love and do best!
Thanks Amber! ❤️
The curtain looks wonderful at the length it is now, and serves as a backdrop for your curvy desk legs!
You really did well with the dumpster find! Love how you share your thought process, it really translates right through. Having a “moment of clarity” makes everything feel just right.
Creating this unique and beautiful space is your natural talent. Looking forward to the next video.

Appreciate how you designed the space for functionality and budget as well not just aesthetics 💜
Wow love to watch you work on your home with your parents. #Blessed
I like the drop cloth curtains long like they are. Gives artist atelier vibes
SO GOOD!!! I love hearing about the rationale behind your choices.
Stunning work!
I love the fireplace and I would leave the curtain as it is and maybe give yourself a way to pull it to one side with a tie back option too that is functional but not a show item. Sounds like an amazing project for you! Let me know how it goes!
Wow. Just love this space. The fireplace looks great, you were right to wax and the tiles look beautiful. Big thumbs up 👍 from me
You do such beautiful, intentional work. For the curtain, what about a small rod tension rod on the top and the bottom. It would keep the material taut and still allow you to open the curtains.
Your videos are the greatest. And your parents are amazing. 😊 happy 2024🎉
I love the mix of raw wood with the graphic tile! It’s absolutely stunning!
I’m sooooo in love with everything about that workstation table! So cleverly done.
Wow, the awesome work you and your parents did restoring that fireplace! I love your creative work area you are making- so inspiring. Thank you for sharing.

Congrats! The room looks really good and it will be a creative haven for you!🎉
this space is just so endlessly cool with every update. great work Andrew!
❤ the fireplace ❤
I love this room!! Excellent call to leave the fireplace natural, it looks beautiful. And I’d leave the dropcloth long, it gives a nice bit of softness to see it billowing on the floor. Great job, I’d probably never leave this room if it were mine 😆
You already know it: ❤!
😊
Curtain within the window imo.
Haha I’ve redonated some things myself lately! Sometimes things just don’t work out… but we have to try!
I love how you think out of the box!
So happy you kept the mantel as is
At one point I thought you were going to sand back all the curvy legs and I inwardly groaned at the amount of work in that and then - genius! You blended the stain! ❤ I am really liking the long length of the curtain for some reason, cant put my finger on why but I do.
Thanks Gabby! Yeah I couldn’t handle anymore sanding on the legs 😂😭
It all looks fantastic! I loved the green mantel but think what you went for looks perfect in your space. Great job on the desk and legs 💚❤
20k subs well deserved..a genious..parents are great
Aw thank you!
I agree with the boyfriend too. Im giving my cupboards a fresh coat of matte over tacky gloss. Theyre all black and to break it up i added a dark grey paint to some of the trim. Consider a light stain to help your shelves stand out? In time it will fade if you dont like it. :)
Drop cloth is perfect. I would hem it to just above the window sill.
Loving it can't wait for the final result!❤❤❤
I always enjoy your posts!!😊
Lovely decisions, and the hours put into making thrifted/discounted/found items your own is always impressive. Thank you for continuing to share your vision. OK, I think the curtain might be most productive at or near sill height, since it's being cinched by the countertop already. Also, with that workspace being a fitted piece, having the dropcloth pool to the ground will be an debris collector. Finally, if you decide to open the window for any reason, the shorter length makes it a bit more accessible. Hey, is that an open vent in the floor under the window?
Looks great ! Love the curtain too
A beautiful space ❤
Looks great!
Have you ever watched Transformation Furniture with Angie? She uses this Odies Oil on wood, and it looks so, so good
I haven’t! I might have to check that out!

it's looking wonderful. have you thought about adding, now that you're keeping the fireplace so light, something dark high on the wall above it? something long and thin perhaps? like an old sign, or some such?
Great thought… that side of the room definitely could use a dark feature now. Great eye!
It's all looking great.
Just a suggestion, I’d rethink my overhead light, gorgeous light however, it just looks out of place in so busy busy busy on that ceiling
Love the fireplace! Great decision! Inspired by the work you did on the legs. Like the curtain, have you considered making it into a blind?
love it
On the curtain keep the width and fold the top to allow you to keep the length should you change your mind on what you want in the space as your curtain, you will still have a full drop cloth to use.
Yeah I’m definitely planning to hang that piece from the picture rail! As well as some other art in that corner 🙌🏻
