Idea for your tub/shower situation: Forget the suspended shower curtain rod and opt for ceiling mounted hospital curtain tracks with dog tag chains for the shower curtains. This will allow you to move the curtains easily and completely out of the way as well as adding some drama.
Hi Andrew. Your privacy issue can be solved by frosting the bottom part of the windows. You still get to see the trees on the top half, and light will bounce around the room. Shutters, while beautiful, would be too much for the space I feel. Love the rolltop bath with shower overhead. Water will still spill over the sides if you don't place the curtains inside the tub (not a great aesthetic and also clingy 😬), so I assume you might slant the floor and install a long grate to remove excess water? I'm looking forward to whatever decision you make. I know it will be stunning and full of interest.
All of the colors for the beadboard would work well in that bathroom. However, I would not choose the rusty red. I am leaning toward a black of some type, either a true black, a blue-black or a deep green. The red color for the towels would add nice contrast and bring in that tone from the bedroom. I liked the Asian screen you found on Chairish. You and your Dad and Mom could craft screens like that for the lower window sashes and put a rice paper window film behind it on the glass. Thanks for including us in the thought process. It is fun.
I keep thinking of that beautiful wood ceiling, and wonder if you could find a way to mimic that with the beadboard, so it looks almost like a Victorian gentleman's club locker room. And in fact, that vanity/shaving station could become a linen closet with a deep woodgrain "locker" instead? I think that would fit your vibe really well. I could see your portraits of nineteenth century guys with the handlebar mustaches displayed there.

I'm not usually a fun of green but dark sage green looked the best to me for some reason. Although whatever Andrew chooses will look spectacular. What an inspiring talented young man. For sure the one to watch as one of the best Interior Designers of North America today.

Gotta say, I do like the darker green for the lower half.
As far as privacy for the windows go...the shutters seemed 'fine' but just fine. I have always loved stained glass in an older home and I think it would look great by providing the privacy needed, and also artistry, color and personality. They would be the jewels of the space. Leave the top half of the windows as is, perhaps adding a sheer drawn curtain for added privacy.

I love the dry counter area idea but would take that opportunity to use some kind of antique unique pie like maybe the top mirror drawer thing from a gentles chest of drawers or a shaving mirror that has those little drawers definitely some kind of wood there. I know the rest will look spectacular in REISSUED style. Love the idea of off black with an olive or deep green undertone. I’d keep your eyes peeled for vintage barber shop items lights etc just to pay a nod to it!
Now would be the time to add pocket doors, but he will loose 8" along the wall. Those shutters are just not right for this, stylewise.
Love the idea of the shower. Love the idea of a dry get ready section. Do not use any color that could resemble poop. No brown, the rusty red could be a bit to close to the brown family. But every designer that I have seen use brown in their bathroom instantly regrets it. You can do a black that's not quite Midnight black. Something that has a little bit of a blue under hue. A dark green could also be nice.
I like the idea of an olive colored beadboard; it'll match your bedroom rug and provide a bit of color without being too overpowering or dark.

I would definitely go for a dry station. It would be a great place to do both hair and makeup. As for the windows, they let in beautiful light, so it would be a shame to block them off. You could put a film on them so you can only see out, but I don’t think that’s effective at night. The other thing is you could put fluted glass in the windows. That would give an old world feel and the privacy you’re after
The tub-surrounding shower curtain is the one and only exception to my "no-shower-curtains-EVER" rule, unless financial considerations dictate otherwise. Love the beadboard idea and the dry grooming station. I've always wondered what you would look like without a moustache. In a word: Fabulous! Be still my heart. (And I adore facial hair.) This is going to be a wonderful project!

LOVE the idea of the darker bead board plan! I vote for the moody green.. would bring the outside in, as well as keeping it fresh feeling in contrast with the white tile. Also love your plan for the vintage tub/shower with curtain. It definitely is classic for your home’s age. So excited for you!!

For the toilet privacy I really liked the idea of a full wall especially if it’s next to the vanity. And if your building it, having built in pocket shelf’s seems very useful as well as customizing it to have the pockets on altering sides-to give vanity side a shelf pocket and the toilet side some too.
Also love the wrap around tub idea and dry bar, plus the neutral tones of the wood are nice
For privacy, what about some kind of cool privacy glass?
What I did in one of our bathrooms is use a kind of textured, clear contact paper that makes the glass privacy glass for cheap. I LOVE the light in the room WITH the privacy.
I vote for a dark green paneling.
Black leaning brown for the beadboard. I'm tired of everyone doing green in their homes. Brown is the future! Everything else about your design ideas I love😍
I love the new floorplan, tile and beadboard design. For paint ,take a look at Behr cordovan brown ( deck stain) I color matched this for all my warm black applications . ( Personally wouldn't paint bathrooms green for the sallow glow to your skin) As well, I lived with an all terracotta/ brick tub shower toilet ensuite that I'm sure was the bee's knees at some point.😹 Although I do love the color, it is so freeing to have a warm charcoal and white ensuite now with the terracotta towels for a splash of color that can be changed easily whenever.

I like the idea of going green or red with the paint, as when it's dark out I think the black/off black won't read as inviting, even with warm toned light bulbs. If you pare down the number of colors, I think it will still feel sleek without doing the "single man only uses neutral colors" color scheme (though the single man decorating style incorporates a lot more mess and bad thrifting than I have ever seen in this house).
I love the idea of doing the full wall next to the toilet with the antique glass panels in it, and I think if you would get use out of a blow drying situation, more power to you! Plus it's likely to come out cute as hell.
I actually really love the painted water lilies on the tub at the moment, but I knew immediately it wouldn't be your vibe. I wonder if some other pattern in some other color scheme would class up the tub and add the handmade touch I associate with Reissued
I never am on the edge of my seat for your renos Andrew, I'm fully settled in and lounging on the couch with a glass of something 'cause I know we're going to be here awhile. ;) dark slate grey in an matte or near matte finish for the wainscotting, and a shade lighter or darker for the outside of the tub. The dry grooming area is a great idea, if any of your house guests are wanting to apply any sort of make up they'd love the space. Almost a dressing table type feel. The only concern about no seperate shower in the place is as you age, (hey I bought my house in 1985 and didn't think I'd get old) is getting in and out of it (I can't recall what the shower is like in the guest bath) I'd olny go half height wall by the toilet, to tall it would feel too closed in and crawly to me. Great seeing your folks helping. And Queenie of course.
These are fun ideas! I agree with others about an 'off-black' color instead of black itself. Dark aubergine sounds lovely, but olive seems more in keeping with what you've got going on elsewhere. I think navy would I *strongly* agree with the other commenter who said avoid anything close to brown in a bathroom (other than well placed and well-thought-out wood, like the vanity).
If you do the stained glass idea to separate the toilet and want to do anything other than frosted glass, I'd let those colors guide your choices, though, since they'll be a *huge* influence on the space. I like that approach for gaining privacy with your outside windows, too - static film for windows is a good temporary measure to give you privacy without having to shell out for new frosted glass.
Lastly, for the tub's shower curtain, I agree about that being a nice aesthetic and a great vintage look while saving space! (I hate baths and love gigantic showers, so I'd have gone the other way myself. But even the nicest shower can't out-pretty a claw-foot tub.) I'd encourage you to look into getting a ceiling-mounted oversized curtain rod hoop to help avoid brushing against the shower curtain while you're in there, though. The curtain's always going to come in a lot at the bottom, but starting out as wide as possible up top will mitigate things and will help to keep your shoulders free. Good luck!

I think some etched glass in the lower panes of the windows would help re privacy. If etched glass is too costly well applied window film might be a solution. Or some light Japanese inspired removable frames with paper inserts to provide privacy and that eastern feel, again maybe just on the lower panes?
I would suggest some kind of frosting on the lower part of the windows regarding privacy.
For the colour of the bead bord (is that the term?) I'd def. go with a tone that fits mainly the wooden ceiling but also the wood tones in the bedroom.
Maybe the anthracite tone you used on your bedroom ceilings or sth.
Regarding the stone countertop maybe jade (or sth. jade-looking/ in a jade tone) could be nice since it would pull together the existing green tones (wood ceiling, carpet..) and the asian vibe/concept at the same time.

I am also a shower curtain hater but a tub lover. Love that you're planning to do a tub and shower combo centered under the window, but why not put up a glass partition/door situation, with black metal framing? i think you'd probably have to tile it like a shower if it's a fully sealed wet room, but you could also leave it partly open and still do the black bead board (which i LOVE, btw! dark green would also be sensational) I love the look of the circular shower curtain rod but ugh, i just hate showering with shower curtains! Also then you could put a frosted film on the window or some gorgeous stained glass. No matter what you choose, I love the areas and style vibes you're playing with, and your reno skills are unmatched. So excited to see what you do!
I think this is the right idea! Use the subway tile in that corner for a tub wetroom situation with a glass door. I think this would end up being more functional and look beautiful.

Elephant gray or sharkskin gray painted bead board with white to the ceiling (tile or paint). My cousin did this combination in his Victorian Townhouse in Baltimore. It was a show stopper of simplicity and elegance. Also, If you don't like shower curtains (especially if you don't like them touching you while you shower) you may not be happy with the day to day usage of the claw foot tub/shower combo. More importanly, less room to move around in show due to curves in the tub back. However, aesthetically, it should look cool. Consider selling the tub or fining a new home for it and go for a shower only. Tile to the ceiling would be awesome, but avoid super dark grout. Add a large all niche for soaps. I like the exposed pipe of an Edwardian styled shower package. It would suit your aesthetic nicely.
I have to add a comment about the tub shower, we had a claw foot tub and made it into a shower as well and not testing it out first with standing in it, with the slope in the back we didn’t have a lot of room to move around and the water went on the floor since the curtain hung out side. But it looked beautiful 🥴.

As they say “you make plans and life happens” I’m in my 60’s and I still change my mind and that’s ok. Love the idea of the black bead board, with timber and brass is what I would say softens the feel. I really don’t like brown, much prefer a crisp look in a bathroom. We are in the process of remodelling our laundry so I might just pinch your colour scheme.
Unless you are okay with scrubbing your floors regularly, consider darker grout with the floor tile rather than white. It doesn't have to be very much to avoid a dark "snail trail" pattern from foot traffic.
There is a safety issue to consider by having the shower next to the window. Our permit required replacing the extant glass with tempered safety glass because the window was less than 60-inches from the floor. I won't go into the gruesome stories of what can happen without it -- and it only takes one time to slip.
The majority of injuries from falls at home are in the bathroom. My career is disability education and grab bars should be required in any bathroom -- but I am well-aware that people are reluctant because they think the bars fight with their tastes in decor, etc. (sermon over).
I completely understand the project “jumps.” Projects at this level are major work and sometimes you have to start something new to keep moving and find inspiration for going back.
I would definitely take a test run standing in a tub with a curtain that has to fall inside the tub all the way around before committing. It's very claustrophobic and even with weights on the bottom of the fabric , the curtains tend to get drawn inward with the heat of the shower. My daughter had a vintage clawfoot tub with the same shower curtain design. Looks great but showering was not fun.
I like the green idea for the bathroom though I did think a blue with white tiles above especially with the timber on your vanity. I hope your dry vanity has a long draw under to give you a place to put products and your hair dryer and stool to push under. Like you better without the mo. 😊
Shoji as inserts for the windows could be something. I have seen a few videos from people, who replaced the moulberrypaper themselves. Maybe those could be a DIY for you? It could also be an idea for a door.
I love the idea of the black with the white tiles, classy and classic.
Dark blue would look nice on the bead board.
I think black or an extremely dark green or gray would look good in the space and flow nicely from the vibe of the bedroom. I love the look of a hanging shower curtain with a freestanding tub. My only concern is if the tub is large enough?
One idea I’ve always toyed with in my head is using a huge galvanized tub as a bathtub, like the kind you see on a farm for water for the horses. Probably not something to consider for your bathroom because you’d probably have to cut open the exterior wall to get it inside.
Gotta say, I really like your face without the mustache.
I think your new shower plan will give you better flow and I wholeheartedly support dark wainscotting. I’m partial to dark navy, but a warmer color like olive or eggplant would work well. Since you want some connection between the bedroom and bathroom, maybe a darker shade of one of your bedroom colors. Good luck!

I suggest Behr's Cracked Pepper for the wainscotting. Such a sophisticated almost black color to pair with your walnut cabinetry and tile flooring, but retro-leaning. I really like the idea of the shower ring in your inspo photos. And, yes, get yourself some privacy for the toilet! Also, clean face looks great!
I love the idea of a more secluded toilet area. Overall I think you have some beautiful ideas. I especially like the bead board going up with the tiles above it. I also love the idea of the dark green on the lower part of the bathroom. Whatever you do, it will be gorgeous.
I think either dark green or rust red/red ochre for the panelling would be gorgeous and will keep it feeling warmer and less clinical than black. It's such a beautiful room with all that light! Also, l really agree with you on the "Dry Grooming" thing! I hate having to balance skincare jars and stuff on the washbasin just so you can look in the mirror and hairdryers and water certainly don't mix! Looking forward to seeing how it all develops 😊good luck!

My only advice (learned this the hard way): make your WHOLE house cohesive, every room somehow gels with other rooms, maybe 5 common colors/flooring/wood type 🤷♀️
Loving that circular retro shower curtain plan. Adding the stained glass piece a big YES. Shutters.. no. I'm leaning towards the brown beadboard. Just seems more vintage and versatile if you want to change a color scheme in there (towels, artwork). On a silly side note... your hair looks awesome here. Thanks for a glimpse of sweet Queenie.
I love all your plans for this bathroom. A really dark colour would be lovely on the boarding. I love dark green but off black or deep red would be lovely too. I like the idea of the dry grooming station, if you use your bathroom for that, then it would serve it's function. We don't have plugs in our bathrooms here in the UK so I have a separate room for doing my hair and make up. Look forward to seeing the progress 🤎
Welcome back Andrew! I think your plan to have the tub/shower combo is perfect since the window is there. I do like the idea of the beadboard, and taller then the "usual" chair rail height, if that's still a thing? We did wainscotting on one of our walls, and I insisted it should be taller, my husband "the builder" said he hadn't seen it at the height I wanted it to be at, but I won him over, and we put wallpaper on the top part and painted the bottom. I think the idea of having a dry counter is a good one. That way if someone is at the sink and you want to dry your hair or whatever, you can. It's very smart. The black beadboard would look good against that wood you're planning on using on the vanity. Black and wood, to me looks so good! I'd take that subway til all the way to the ceiling, at least behind the sink area, unless you have enough, around the tub of course!❤
This is so exciting! You have some really good ideas for this space already, I can’t wait to watch you implement them. I think you made the right call with the tub/shower combo with circular overhead curtain. It’s a strong aesthetic and I think going subway tile up from the beadboard is smart for moisture concern. Absolutely intrigued by the idea of stained glass in a partial wall by the commode. I would try and use a color from the glass in a deep tone as your beadboard color. Bonus points if it is also in your bedroom rug. Love the grooming station idea! Would be cool to see you customize a drawer with built in dividers for wallets, watches, cuff links lined in some of that faux leather. A glass top and you would have a beautiful display that is still functional counter space. I can’t wait to see what you come up with Andrew!

I think black and white and an antique/vintage rug for the color. I would just frost the window behind the tub and hang a cafe curtain half way or 3/4 the way up the other window...LOVE all the light! Or you could have a roman shade made for that window but you Im afraid would always be opening and closing it if you feel exposed.
Dark green would be phenomenal on the bead board. 💚
Last year, my husband and I spent a week at an airbnb that had one of those ring shower things. It was the worst experience I’ve ever had because of the suction caused by the water the curtains kept sucking in. I felt like I was back in the womb. I couldn’t get away from the shower curtains as much as I tried. you might want to rethink that. Maybe this was just a unique situation but it was awful. I think you would be better off doing a wet room situation and having a frosted window treatment and A frosted Soji screen style shower wall. I would take out the wood trim around the window and use tiles all the way around to keep the window from rotting. You could also do a teak treatment over the frost on the window.
If you happen to have any, you should consider replacing some of the floor tiles (pop out the round penny tile and replace with the same size just different color) with a black or darker color and add a matte shape or some kind of border Very vintage inspired

Wonderful as always and whatever you decide is going to be rad. I think yes to the dry grooming area for sure!!! Nothings better for self care than having a dedicated space for it, plus more storage is always a win. Also, leaning into some of the color options for your bathroom since the guest bathroom is black and white might make it feel more special since its your own private space :) Good luck!
Love the ever changing plan... And the chair placement as toilet! I'm going to do that as I'm working on the mock up of my 1890 Reno. Deep green bead board and white subway tile with the walnut vanity would be amazing.
You might want to flip the beadboard and subway tile. Otherwise the subway tile will stick out farther than the headboard and look weird/give weird shadow lines.
It really doesn't make sense to me to do wood on the bottom and tile on the top, especially in a bathroom. But he has the white floor. Matte paint in the lower part in a bathroom??? That shows every water mark. Whatever he does, the tile is going to create too much grout pattern (grid patterns everywhere) unless he keeps it all white grout and the smallest grout line possible and clean. He might be able to go half way up with the subway, then surround the bath area to the ceiling? Might make the room too blocked up.
I love the look of the space with the black beadboard, think that will be amazing with the subway. I think a halfwayy for the toilet with storage on either side for extra toliet paper ect is a great idea. I also love mixing metals and think that gives a cozier vibe than sticking with one metal throughout a home. I like the idea of stained glass on the windows for privacy and just to add another color to the room because to me black and white can feel less peaceful and more sterile in a room. I love this process tbqh. I;ve been in a very slow yet intentional process of decorating my apartment for almost 2 years with things I love and will keep for many years and its been so fun. Can;t wait to see what you come up with!
I found nice white fabric window shades at ikea that can be put up and down with a sewn in magnet system. They are very simple, clean, minimalist….and do add a subtle Japanese feeling to the space.
The color you choose will reflect on your face in a bathroom so as much as I like green it might not be the best choice. Maybe the black/brown is a better choice. They make a window cling that mimics the patterned glass that used to be used in bathrooms. I think the shutters would also work if painted the wall color.
Full white upper and lower walls is nice and airy, but I would stay away from the chrome fixtures. It tends to look builder grade and landlord special and won’t give any contrast to break up white on white. Consider maybe a row of funky mismatched tiles as the top border tile or even a three inch shelf lip that runs the entire perimeter of the room at the top of the tile. For privacy consider cafe curtains, they don’t block out all of the light but still leave privacy

I think the green colour from your bedroom rug would be a great choice, however, would picking out the turquoise in the ceiling be too jarring to your aesthetic (probably). I don't personally like wood in wet areas but I understand that it can bring warmth and texture. Your dry area is a great idea, I never do my hair in the bathroom because my sink area is too small and scares me. Love the idea of the stain glass in a divider wall, don't squash the toilet into the corner too much, one of my pet hates are toilets with no space around them. Can't wait to see the finished look.
Andrew, I'm looking forward to the completion of your main bathroom. However, since you're going with the tub/shower combo, It's best to use a shower liner in addition to the shower curtain. The liner will keep the water in the tub whenever you want to take a shower and not on your beautiful floor that you and your family worked so hard on. Or you can take your shower in the guest bathroom when you don't have guests staying at your house.
Also, from the looks of the wood vanity you'd like to install, you might be able to squeeze in another sink. Either way, it will be beautiful.😍
I hope you use the original medicine chest somewhere. What about fitting the shutters with rice paper or faux rice paper so you can move it out of the way. Love the ideas!

I like the idea of the Oriental Screens for the lower part of the windows. I'm sure that what ever you come up with will be fantabulous as always!! Loving the dark brown black colour for the beadboard. Also love the green but it’s common. For the vanity, why dont you try Retique (saw on Macennas bathroom vanity) it or even wood contact paper. Clawfoot tub maybe paint black. I agree of putting some form of divider for the toilet, maybe incorporate something Asian inspired there like the screen or some encased painting like blossoms or so. For the dry vanity area, I think a bigger mirror would make more sense, more space to get ready like your inspo and even make the room feel larger. Windows- you really need to get some privacy. Film or blinds??

You might be able to get the light wood look for your shudders...? I've no idea how difficult it would be, but it could be a 'blending from your room' element. 👍...If you want a dry grooming area, you should give yourself one! 😊

All women have a dry grooming Space, usually called a Vanity. I see no reason why a man should not have one. For real comfort make it counter height and get yourself a nice seat. So comfortable. Even though you have the windows don't forget to add lighting. I like either side lighting for a mirror. If the light is above it casts shadows. I'm not sure your Space is big enough for long Horizontal lighting above the mirror. There is a color by Sherman Williams called iron ore. It's a softer black tone, Please check it out.
Looking forward!! Have you considered an opaque film for the lower section of the windows? Those can be obtained from Amazon fairly reasonably, and are so easy to install. Just a thought. 😊👍🏼🙏
I love the deep rusty red because I haven’t seen that before...so different, bit like no moustache😮 Everyone's doing green, its old already😊 Brown and black is the same.
The hardware for the bathrm sink is nice. I personally would not change it. I like the beadboard, but I don't know what color to use. When you said that you would like the bathrm to be more basic, I was thinking that, and I'm glad you are going down that road.

I would bring in the dark red/Bordeaux from the rug.
Maybe getting some kind of hanging wooden something to cover the one window would give you the opportunity to introduce the oriental style into the room and make it look intentional?
Deep rusty red is lovely. More rust color than burgundy. You will come up with something really creative, I know it..
Love your ideas. i would not install tile above beadboard since it would compete with warmth and richness of a dark beadboard (love dark deep green). Yes to half wall beside toilet but no to glass on top. Love a cafe curtain for windows. Cant wait for the reveal. Btw, loving the no mustache look.
I’d go the green with the white subway tiles. I love the half/full wall idea for the toilet area with storage/shelving in it. I love the “dry” grooming idea also. Totally not too bougie.
I'm planning 2 bathroom renos for my place, and I was also thinking about doing the headboard thing, so I'm super excited for this series. 🎉 I vote no to the shutters if you haven't got them anywhere else in your house (cohesion), but I'm sure you'll make them work if you decide to go that way. Not sure how much privacy you need to make from the outside world from those windows but a thought I had was to do another faux stained glass thing, or some kind of window film (full or part) to keep the light coming in but give you privacy. Might be a bit much on 2 windows though. Or...more of those diy roman shades like you did in the studio?
I love that super dark but slightly acidy-green for the beadboard, with the tile above. The Asian window screen you made for the bedroom would work so well in here!

Was so excited to see another video up from you and can’t wait to see you and your folks embarking on a new renovation adventure! I think your present more relaxed attitude toward the process is really positive. I have a tendency to think things to death and, consequently, never get things done. 😂 Also, like the very grooming station idea a lot! I HATE leaning over the sink to put on my make-up or do my hair. Sciatica is a clear and present danger in that situation!

That Locally Grown color is really nice
I love the colors you’re looking at. I used a rich dark grey called shadow mountain in my kitchen. It’s a great dark color.
Privacy film on those windows will go a LONG WAY for you. I was bold enough to put a windowed door on my primary bath because the bedroom is so dark, but between the privacy film on the window itself, and film on the door? Light passes through just fine and no one can see me pee.
Also: dry grooming station? YES. I have one! It's GREAT

I really like your new plans. I think black paint or an darky inky blue-black would be nice. For your window that's not near the bath, a roman blind made of stripe would be great and since they fit in close to the actual window, they aren't obtrusive in the window. Can't wait to see what you come up with!
After your comments about the toilet privacy I think you should go with a full wall, but perhaps use the stained glass like a transom at the top? I would even consider a door if there is room…
I vote for dark gray wainscoting- you get the sophistication of black without the starkness.
I love the vanity station idea. I’m not much of a double sink person (I’d rather have the room to myself!), but the vanity station gives you the best of both worlds.

The claw foot tub is beautiful but trust me when I say you will get tired of having to climb in there everyday have the shower curtain go all around you and having water everywhere.....JMO
I’m afraid you may be right. Think Andrew will be showering in guest bathroom and that will be a pain. I love the idea, but is it really practical having just the tub? I’d probably fall the first month!
I'm wondering if you would like Sherman Williams Thunder Gray for your bathroom. It's a very rich color with almost a green under tone.
