IIRC this Rugal was done by Capcom, so he's actually pretty tame compared to other incarnations. There is some semblance of fairness in how his AI is designed, even if the moves themselves are busted.
It's overall an easier AI than 94, 95 and 98 Rugal. And harder than all later versions in KoF. But in power he is weaker than the 94 and 95 versions, and stronger than all later versions. The Rugals start becoming less challenging since 02.
True, one of the most powerful and most feared moves in fighting game history, that move is so damn terrible, it can counter almost any move, whether it SDM OR HSDM. Until 2002 where they nerfed it to some extent
My first encounter with god Rugal was at the arcades at the movies. We were waiting for the movie my date was like "hey let’s play some games" I legit was doing so well. Like I had people standing behind me still on my first credit. then we see the akuma and rugal animation. I went through all my cash in continues and we missed the movie. 😭
I wish they'd bring back God Rugal in some form. As a boss fight with his difficulty just turned up to absolutely absurd levels, the lower the recovery, more I frames, just give him everything that makes it unfair. Love those fights so much.
The thing is that God Rugal is a Capcom creation for CvS. So there's nothing like "bring back" in a sense, as he never existed in KoF. But if you mean just the idea of a hardcore boss, it's not coming back. Modern fgs stopped having hard difficulties since the late 00s. It's that "hand holding" game design style that dominates the genre - dont make the kids too frustrated with the difficulty.

This may not be the hardest Rugal, but damn, Capcom’s presentation of him here-the way he looks, the way they animated him-it just utterly destroys his appearance in any SNK game.

Hey, King is actually one of my top characters, I got so good with her back in the day that the Ai just froze after trying everything it could against me, like a deer caught in a car’s headlights, plus I like her hair, hehe.
King is actually an immensely skilled character, you just gotta know the correct order in which to execute her moves, I would rate her one of my top 5 characters.
That low parry into level 3 super @6:49 was heartbreaking but also hilarious because I have the game for ps3 and Dreamcast….the AI for the 2 hidden bosses is beyond cheap. CVS2 is my fav fighting game of all time but I’ll never get over how cheap the AI can be.
I love the sound effects Justin puts in when he’s getting screwed over by the computer. 🤣🤣🤣 By the way, How the hell are those the worst characters in the game? Vice is an awesome grappler and Benimaru and King can do some serious damage. The worst characters in this game are probably Todo, Eagle and Chang. Especially Todo since the asshole only has 2 MOVES total. 🤦♂️
According to Justin, Todoh and Eagle are B tier. They put in work in tourneys I've watched so seem believable. Todoh's 2 moves are all he needs to be a wall and play keep away as well as parry if they press buttons to break through. Chang is another wall, being an anti air machine due to ball AND, he has annoying Choi assist. I've seen Chang wreck entire teams.

S groove isn't worst at all. It has dodge and allows dishing out infinite lvl 1 supers at low health. I use it usually on characters with invincibility start up in their supers.
What bothers me the most about this boss is that he seems to like to grab a lot, the other time playing he wanted to grab me like 4 or 5 times in a single round but I was saved by the tech XD
@@PrisonMike196 Snk started becoming soft in the late 90s, and gradually for worse in the whole 00s. One exception - kind of - was Igniz, but KoF 01 is not made by Snk, so... And Magaki is hard, but the whole run isnt (very unlike earlier KoFs). It uses the same model of CvS2 arcade run: everything is easy even on hardest mode, until the mad cheap boss.
A guy used him in a online tournament and said... I'm mediocre in my skills with him... and he still kicked our butts with him... talk about OP... I WONDER... HOW ABOUT DIAGO MIRACLE PARRY THAT GENOCIDE CUTTER...

So my experience in this game If u have a point around or more than 1500 and face god rugal instead shin akuma. God rugal became more trouble than shin akuma. Unless u continue over over again until your point below 900 or 800, then god rugal become more beatable... I don't know the points affect the difficulty or not, but that is what happened to me kekw
In general Capcom made most Snk chars badly. And it's sad because i like very much some of the chars that were badly done (Kim, King, Ryo, Yamazaki, etc). I have a pretty good KoF experience (being an old school fg player from south america) and remember i couldnt stomach some of them since the first time i saw CvS1.
I remember sitting in my barracks room, back in late ‘07, losing my shit at g rugal and shin akuma playing cvs2… Watching this video was almost triggering 🤣
G.Rugal and S.Akuma from this game Two of the most coolest bosses that Capcom had made; it's a shame that they fall for tricks from some fighters very easily, and the version the player gets when they control these bosses are much weaker than the CPU ones!
Rugal is the scariest villain in both Capcom and snks universe to date he's a monster and can destroy anything he fights even akuma in the snk vs Capcom games as rugal absorbs his dark energy's
He also achieve powers on Akuma's level without selling his soul too (then again nearly all SNK villians did) so it does make sense for him to be the biggest threat in this game
It's not that bad. God Rugal/U Rugal has certain patterns and can be baited. You were using grooves where you could have done desperation moves/supers and didn't need to charge that much. Don't jump in (Genocide Cutter!) except if you're punishing a whiffed move. There's also a bunch of characters that can do supers/desperation moves over and over to chip (Benimaru's Raikoken, Kyo's Shiki Orochinagi, etc.)
A few of the last sane thoughts in your head as God Rugal unleashes a finisher move on you: “Why did I push buttons?” “Please…let me clutch this out.” “ Was it not my turn?” “Wait, you can’t block that?!” “Mother…” (Looney Tunes reference), “Motherf-“ “At least…he pwned Dan first…wait, that’s pretty much every-“ “Final Bosses are cheap!”

When you got hit with one super that took off a full bar at 6:50 is where I tilt.
