Sorry Colin, no matter how good of a QB Drew was, or how much of a class act he is, you can't call him a "Superbowl Champ". What other back up QBs do you apply that label too? A Superbowl winning QB "Title" is only reserved for starters.
Every time I see Bledsoe on these shows I do think he’s brought on and treated as a footnote to Brady’s career. I’m actually glad Colin finally asked him about it and Bledsoe could talk about it.
I found it a bit funny that he mentioned he won one too...because it wasn't really him who won it...it was Brady. And I mean look, I get it, Brady was injured and he did help the Pats survive the AFC Championship Game...but what does it say about him that the Patriots turned to the injured and not 100% Brady for the SuperBowl over him? They didn't trust him. But even if he had a ring purely his own that he had won clean as the starting QB through and through that's still not spectacular when compared to seven. So it's a bit cruel to say but also true...he mostly is a footnote in Brady's story.
As a proud WSU alumni I’ve always been a monstrous Bledsoe fan. He epitomizes the type of Washington guys I grew up with. He’s a solid human being, got a sense of humor, humble- but at the same time, there’s still a little grit in his eye. Historically one of the most underrated QB’s in the game, because as mentioned, he was the guy the GOAT replaced. Tough position for any 4 time pro bowler to be in. He’s wears it like a man and always remains a class act. We love ya Drew!!
Dude was super talented, had a great arm. I just think He just didn’t have that edge . When you compares other Qb to Tom Brady’s legacy, a lot of Qb will appear to be just a foot note also.
Drew was far better than most people think. He wasn’t perfect but he deserves more credit than he gets and deserves to discuss his career other than him getting hurt paving the way for pretty boy. Make no mistake about it, him and all of his teammates pre-2001 paved the way for the six Super Bowls the patriots won. 23rd all time in passing TD’s out of the thousands of guys to have ever handled an NFL snap.
I guess he's a footnote if you're under the age of 30, but if you remember the 90s, he was a damn good QB that had the misfortune of going against Favre and a great Green Bay team.
The first high school football game I ever saw was Wa-Hi at home in Walla Walla with Drew Bledsoe. I was 8 years old and still have the ticket stub. I love this man. We can all learn a lot from this man and how he carried himself throughout all the bad times
Drew was a great quarterback that lead the patriots to the start of greatness, what Drew lacked was timing in the pocket and often was waiting for the big play rather than dumping it off. Drew has always been a great guy a stellar team player. What ever was missing was that slight detail of what ever separates him from Tom Brady. As time goes by he proves how humble he actually is and deserves more recognition for his skills bringing the patriots out of the cellar.
Drew Bledsoe turned the patriots franchise around. He was my favorite player as a kid. I still can remember him going toe to toe with marino in his rookie year. Class act. An absolute stud at quarterback.
Was always a fan of Bledsoe. I think it goes to show just how good he was that when he went to Buffalo, he immediately broke a bunch of Jim Kelly's records for single season passing. Would have been good to see him go to a team that devoted themselves to him long term after his stint in NE.
People forget he retired top 10 for every major stat (still top 15 for most), made numerous pro bowls, made the playoffs many times, played in the SB, & won many playoffs games. He didn’t fit w/ Belichick. They went 5-11 Bill’s 1st year, but Drew was really good even the season before Bill was hired! He also made another pro bowl the season after the Pats traded him! Drew should be remembered by fans for all his accomplishments & not just trend on Twitter the day an injury got him replaced …
@Babyface Nelson I wasn't born last night and I remember Bledsoe under Belichick being 5-13 in New England before Brady - (.277 Win %) and 0-2 to start the 2001 season before Brady putting up 3 points at home vs The Jets in week 2.. If they would have lost in Week 3 with Bledsoe Brady would have been put in/in week 4 so pal you are 100% wrong
@Babyface Nelson Brady is a 21 year VET and has thrown 72 TD's in the last 18 months including leading the league in passing yards and TD's this year at age 44
Since the sideline is considered a 12th man on defense (this is taught since Pop Warner football), give the defense the ball at the point of the jumble. Simple.
The dude still kinda seems torn up about being replaced by Brady when talking about that situation. Hefelt like he shouldve been the starter for that first super bowl
Love Drew. He was a big part of my younger years as a Patriots fan. But let’s be honest. We as patriot fans were living you and and loving you Drew was loving complacency. You were going to get your yards and your accolades. But Brady took us to the next step. A step that New England fans didn’t think about much. Drink your wine and don’t rewrite the narrative in your mind.
Bledsoe is a class act and contributed a lot (along with Kraft and Parcel) to bringing the Patriots out of anonymity. That said, Brady out-worked him and basically took his job. The knock on Bledsoe was that he couldn't read defenses and held onto the ball too long, which was due to not spending enough time watching film. Bledsoe had other commitments and was married with a bunch of kids at a young age, while Brady was single and only had football to worry about.
To the fumble the ball: If you fumble the ball and it goes out of bounce it should be like incomplete pass! You shouldn't get any reward for not keeping the ball! That would be of course true for out of the endzone, safes so many problems with that.
I can remember his immortal words when people were speculating about where he would go after being supplanted by Brady: I will not go to Cincinnati. That’s hilarious.
At least it’s not like Canadian football. In Canadian football if someone fumbles, the last team to touch the ball before it goes out of bounds gets possession. Many teams just slap the ball out of bounce once it’s on the ground (can’t kick it). Totally ridiculous.
Great arm. Little pocket awareness. I remember Bledsoe getting absolutely blindsided off the edge often when you were screaming at the tv to throw the ball!
im late to this video but where would Russ go and be in a better situation? he already has one of the best WR groups with Locket and Metcalf. the only teams with similar WRS and better O-Lines would be the Packers,Bucs,Chiefs,Bills and Patriots. they have already settled with their qb choices so they wont want him. the only team that would kind of make sense is the 49ers. but then their O-Line is bad as only their tackles have been good this season but their overall O-line is not top 10. they also only have Deebo Samuel and he isnt a deep threat. i dont know if Wilson would be happy throwing slants and drag routes to Samuel he usually throws deep. 49ers also have had a bad running game this season. they have no good CBS,their safetys have been bad, their coverage linebackeds have been bad and their only good defensive line player has been Nick Bosa but he is down from what he did his rookie season. i also dont know if the 49ers would want Wilson considering the Seahawks would likely want 2-3 1st round picks and maybe more. Deshaun Watson was apparently worth 3 1st round picks while possibly never being able to play again because of lawsuits so theyre gunna expect alot for Wilson. the only teams i think would be in for him are the Dolphins, Jets, washington and maybe the saints. and no im not saying there are 25qbs better than Wilson im saying there are only 5 or less teams who would be actively into acquiring a qb who has alot of recent injuries, could maybe retire in 2 or less years and is gunna wanna be the highest paid qb at any contract talks wether thats reworking or he stays long enough for a new one.
That one year in Buffalo when he threw for like 5,000 yards was crazy. Eric moulds and perless price both over 1,000 yards receiving and Travis Henry over 1,000 yards rushing.

The analogy i have is if you get sacked on the inch line, you keep the ball. But for some reason, if you get sacked in the endzone the other team gets 2 points and the ball? How does that make sense? Yes, its quirky. But you never lose because of the rule. You have the other 150 or so plays over the course of 4 quarters to win the game. Just let the defense have this one rule where they have a *slight* advantage and stop bailing out the offense

Patriots fan since 1978, Drew was one of my favorite players. I keep seeing comments where people say Tom Brady came in and did so much better than Drew. What people forget is that New England drafted Drew #1 overall in 1993. He led a strong passing attack at Washington State, and he was asked to do the same when he arrived at NE. Remember, he set the NE team record for passing attempts in a game in his 2nd season. He was asked to throw the ball from the moment he stepped on the NFL stage. Compare that to Tom Brady, who was asked to manage games when he took over. They used their rushing attack and defense to win. Who came off the bench to lead the team to victory in the AFC championship game following the 2001 season? Drew Bledsoe did that because Tom Brady got hurt. Brady benefited from multiple top defensive units over the years, yet very few mention it. Brady was able to develop over the years and became a good player. However, he has always come across as arrogant to me, which is why I never liked him. Remember, I have been a Patriots fan since 1978. Brady cemented his arrogance with his response to a question leading up to Super Bowl XLII. I'm sure you all remember it...Plaxico Burress said he had a dream that the Giants would win 23-17, and Brady said something like "we're only going to score 17?" Then they only score 14 points in the game and lose a perfect season. Go back and look at that game. I will forever be convinced that Brady thought he would set Super Bowl records for passing and didn't bother to take what the Giants were giving them. I was screaming at my television the entire game because Brady had faced attacking defenses before and should have known how to handle the pressure, but he didn't do it. He kept holding the ball as he looked to make big plays to Moss. Drew's demeanor was much better to me, and I still appreciate his time in Foxborough. Drew was a very good player, but they ran a different offense with him than they did with Brady.
Ok did you actually watch SB 42? Welker and Falk had almost 20 catches what are you even talking about? Seems odd to judge Brady by one comment he made in 07 rather than the entirety of his time in NE but to each their own.

@@samlane8674 Pats were 5-13 with him as starter under Belichick though. If they continued to lose games the way they were I think Brady might have gotten a shot regardless
@@thesoundofsilence77 That’s true but the patriots defense wasn’t really elite until like halfway through 2001. And Bledsoe beat the Steelers in the AFC championship game. Who knows it’s all hypotheticals and obviously Brady being qb instead of Bledsoe was better for the team. Just feel like ppl act like Brady 01-03 was like levels above Bledsoe which I don’t agree with.
Can u ask Joy Reid (Taylor) why she thinks Kyle Rittenhouse wasn't under a reasonable doubt using Self Defense against the 3 ppl who attacked him? And now that he is not guilty, how this means White Privilege exists? Can u pls ask her for me!
Awkward…..
