Good video but one mistake. The car doesn’t raise or lower with the doors open. That humming noise you said was it adjusted is actually it waiting to adjust. If you closed the doors and stayed outside you would have heard it make a “ppfffff” sound before actually lowering. Just a heads up for anyone thinking it didn’t make much of a difference it definitely does when you do it properly , and you only need to use 4wd Low when you want to set it at the highest level of the 4. The other 3 can be used in regular 2WD.
Great informative video. But I have an important note. I think the test wasn't accurate enough. You must wait until the suspension is fully lowered or uppered before opening the doors since the air ride system doesn't work when the door is open. Thank you, mate.
Good luck to anyone who was able to find this option on your vehicle. I ended up opting out for some TVs and bucket seats along with the sunroof. I looked far and wide and couldn’t find a vehicle with all this and this option as well. Looks like Chevy was really careful on what packages were bundled together, wish they just threw everything and the kitchen sink at the Z71. Really was looking forward to getting a truly fully loaded Z71, maybe next time
You should have added $4.2k High County Deluxe package, which includes Air Ride suspension (plus panoramic sunroof, power steps, etc). It replaces coil springs with electronically controlled variable rate springs, and allows to adjust the stiffness of suspension. I think this is the most valuable upgrade compared to the previous generation (damn MagneRide), and 100% "must have".
Brian Telander I wish they would go back to the 2016-2018 Cable driven E-Brake versus the stupid Electronic E-Brake and I wish they would go back to the 2016-2018 Silverado Steering wheel. Way better ergonomics for long drives. And I wish they would get rid of that Auto/Start stop crap. It’s just added costs, headache and potential for breaking with an extra battery which is a $1,000 lithium battery/capacitor and more starter wear.
Correct you can purchase the High Country with or without the adjustable air suspension. If you don't have these buttons, you don't have the optional air suspension. But don't worry you're not missing out on anything the suspension you have is equal or better anyways!
Hi! We have the 2022 and cannot figure out how to KEEP the ride height from auto lowering at exit. We love the look and ride at the highest setting (not in 4wd), but it keeps adjusting to normal ride height. Also, it lowers when we open the back hatch. My husband and I are both tall and our heads would love if it wouldn’t do that 😆
I'm not aware of you being able to cancel out the options your speaking of. Lowering when driving and lowering when opening the liftgate are all features its suppose to perform.
@@gonzalogallegos9209 I have not. It will only drive at the normal ride height. I prefer the look of the Tahoe at the taller stance, but it auto adjusts as soon as I go over 12mph. Not exactly sure the point of this feature if you can’t set it to your preferences. Just another thing to go out in 5-10 years like the mid 2000’s Denali’s and their air suspension.
@@WesternGMDrumheller my husband and I are tall, we just want it to stay where we set it. Auto lowering after the liftgate raises has caused some minor head wounds on my 6’4 husband.
My understanding is that air ride has a 4 inch adjustment. You only showed 3 inch’s. I think it goes down 2 inch’s from normal ride height. Not one inch. Only one inch down for entry exit makes no sense.
Hey JB thanks for watching the video and right from GM's site it says... Ride height adjustability can vary up to four inches (102 mm) between these various modes. Drivers can lower the suspension two inches to aid with entry/exit and increase 2 inches (102 mm) for an impressive 10" of ground clearance.
Angel with 6 trim levels a dozen different options plus different pre packaged packages within each trim level, it makes it confusing for guys like us who sell them and even more confusing for customers. So yes not a standard option.
The second video of anyone demo the air ride entry level. Thanks, so what would u suggest for older person that will be driven around the country in the back seats? The Gator is my pick for the rear seats, they got it all, well i think only the aviator is the only vehicle to have a rear ventilated seats, well ram limited to, but what do u think? Want a big ride for safety, must ride smooth n easy in n out
It is easy to get in and out for sure! Yes the only heated rear seats not cooled...but honestly that's ok as the comfort and room is second to none in the 2nd and 3rd rows. Remember the rear doors open up nearly 90 degrees making it even easier to get in and out.
Hi, can the lower setting be used to drive in lower clearance parkades? If so what is the vehicle height in the lowest setting? ..if you can find that stat. (from a fellow Albertan )
Ride height adjustability can vary up to 4 inches (102 mm) between the 4 various modes and the overall vehicle height is 75.8 inches / 1925 mm so subtract 3 inches from that should be your numbers. The lowest setting can only be used when exiting the vehicle so an extra inch lower for a max of 4 inches from the standard 75.8 inches vehice height.
@@WesternGMDrumheller thanks for the quick response! The parkade at work is under renovation. Once they are done I will be able to see how low my next vehicle must be. Thanks!
Would you say the 2021 Silverado LT trucks ride smoother than a 2018 model? Mine rides rather rough with 30 psi in all 4 tires. Any more PSI is too harsh, especially with the 💩 roads in the southern states
Yes the 2021's are smoother because the truck is using more high strength steel (less flexing), it has better aerodynamics, more sound dampening materials and tweaks/improvements to the suspension over the previous generation. Now I should point out that a Silverado with Z71 pkg or a Sierra with Z71 aka X31 since 2019 has a DUALTUBE shock vs a MONOTUBE. A MONOTUBE which is the standard Shock on all GM Trucks offers a more responsive/smoother ride vs the heaver duty DUALTUBE.
WesternGMDrumheller Thanks, what’s the highest trim level for the 4.3v6? Also, is the 4.3 offer a trim level with the 9.76 Heavy Duty Axle & Heavy Duty Rear Springs like those that come on trucks withthe ‘ Max Trailering Pkg ‘?
@@Mr.Beastforpresident For 2020 & 2021 Model Years Chevy Silverado the (LV3) 4.3L V6 EcoTec3 Engine is available in the 1CX Custom, 2CX TrailBoss & WT Trim Levels. Hey Melissa the air ride is adaptive meaning at slower speeds it will be approx. 2inches higher than during highway speeds. Having more ground clearance is a great thing and having even more ground clearance when your in 4LOW for off-road use is amazing and very desirable. But having it automatically lower at highway speeds will give you better aerodynamics and a slight boost to fuel economy. Another thing about this suspension that's great is if you have an unlevel load in the vehicle 350lbs husband in the passenger seat and a 110lbs wife in the drivers seat it will adjust the suspension for the weight difference. Does this help Melissa?
That's always an option, but we have had many customers with the old generation Caddy's with Air Ride and they usually hold up very well on gravel/grid roads. If you an asphalt driver I would expect to last over 120/150,000kms problem free.
If the lowest level isn't automatic then it's worthless. Who is going to spend 45 seconds adjusting the height with 3 different buttons every time you enter and exit?
The cheap hard plastics interior and gaps at the end was horrible. I used to work at quality control in Lexus manufacturing so it’s painful to see for me. I don’t understand where does Chevy get the same cheap hard plastics from. I mean someone spending so much on an suv like this I’m sure wouldn’t mind paying 2k more not to have hard plastics with crooked gaps all over
I'm not sure where you are seeing big gaps but gaps are not common in GM land anymore. The gaps around headlights and bumpers and fenders are a long thing of the past. I just had a 2022 Highlander and Toyota's gaps are more noticeable today then they ever were in the past.
