When throwing cluster bombs, the direction you are facing when you throw will determine the path of the bombs. It will always be perpendicular to the direction you are facing when you throw it. T Imagine the vertical part of the T is your direction, the horizontal line is the path of the bombs. This means if you have a horde chasing you through a narrow gap, you can turn 90 degrees before throwing to send the bombs in a line toward them. Hope that helps, you're an amazing Helldiver!

Worth noting, this is the case for the majority of eagle strikes, but there are exceptions. To be precise, the basic strafing run, the rocket pods, and the 500kg bomb will be dropped straight ahead, in the direction you were looking (With the eagle coming in from directly behind where you were standing).
Putting it in a simpler manner; the bombs always follow your shoulders line.
When I discovered this trick, I went from killing about a dozen enemies per cluster bomb to ~30. It works even better when you have the 100% increased call-in time, because you can throw it at your feet and actually have enough time to escape the blast area, actually unironically makes them easier to use.
important thing to note is that egg objectives are covered with bug holes in the area, but closing those don't actually do anything for you. At the most it clears out the red zone on your map but it's not an objective so usually i crack some eggs and bounce

From the patrol mechanic deep dive reddit thread, they might actually do something.
The "outpost" around the egg objective might act the same as the detector tower/Jammer "outposts". So, it may still act as a "live objective", and be ramping up patrols up to +50% when you're within 50-150m of it. But I can't solidly confirm it either way.

For the Eagle Cluster closing bug holes: It only works if one of the bomblets goes *down the bug hole* (or fabricator) and explodes inside. The standard Airstrike is way more consistent for demolition purposes though.

I've been watching a lot of different Helldiver videos, and you are the one I'm going to stick with.
I love the no BS narration, talking about what you CAN do, but also talking about what might be more likely to happen.
I'm not perfect at aiming, so that helps me a lot to figure out what is possible with my skill level
I've begun using this thing against Brood Commanders purely out of Spite, those guys can rot for all I care. (It's also far more satisfying than hitting a Hunter as they don't liquefy)
EDIT: I would also love to have Pick up Prioritisation. Like yeah, I get that the notes and datapads were lovingly written by the devs and add to the satire of the setting, but I sure would love to be able to pick up the samples that are RIGHT THERE, especially when the POI's have enemies on them and I'm just tryna grab the loot and dip.
The bug holes around the egg nests aren't objectives but it definitely helps to close them. That's where you were losing time.
Man that was intense to watch and absolutely crazy gameplay. At the ending there my mouth was agape and I couldn't help but laugh that was just ridiculous.
As for the mission itself, killing eggs is definitely the hardest one. The last time I did one of those missions solo I was probably somewhere in mid 20's for my level and the difficulty was only on challenging, I barely finished the mission it was torture. There were so many hunters man it was just ridiculous.

Little tip that'll push your efficiency up even more, even though you're already insanely good: Hold grenades with the "grenade" input. IE: not "quick grenade," when grabbing supplies that have grenades in them IF you aren't at max grenades and you will get one more grenade than normal, to a maximum of your normal max +1. That way you can get to six with two supplies if you want, or triple up by only using the trick on the second and third pull to carry 7 to the next area.
Also, the devs had stated in bug lists that not being able to steer into objectives is a BUG. They want to let us do it and are trying to fix it.

aim for the sides on the brood commanders, at least with the sickle it feels about as fast to remove both legs on one side (easy to just aim at the front leg as they face you, then start hitting the back once the front is gone) as it is to remove the head, but it won't do the death charge at you, it just dies

17:30 most eagle stratagems come in perpendicular to the direction you threw it from. In other words, you face north, cluster comes in west to east. Thrown at 12 O clock, the eagle drops 9 to 3 O clock. I believe eagle air strikes do the same. eagle 500kg thrown 12 o clock, comes in from your 6 O clock.

There's a spot for balance in a game like this, but when the game is strictly PvE balance shouldn't come at the cost of making the game frustrating for the players.

Support weapons are basically primary weapons and primary weapons are secondary weapons.
@OhDough Noob question here. How do you get the progress bar to show on your HUD. I see on your screen you can see how many and type of samples you have collected during that mission. Great Hell Diver content, thank you.

You probably already heard this, but if you hold a nade in your hand (by pressing 4), and you go for a safe pick up of supplies when you're at 4-5 nades, you will get an extra 1 and get to 7 nades with that armor, 5 nades with the others.
EDIT: As of the the last patch, this "feature" has been removed ;)
if you've got a big horde chasing you like this, try throwing the cluster bomb sideways so it hits like a strafing run. Should get more of them with the doubled calldown times

0:11 Just wanted to point out (as far as I understand it) that Vitality Enhancement boost doesn't actually give you more HP - it only makes you less likely to suffer an 'injury' like broken arms/legs/hemorrhaging chest, etc. I haven't personally tested it, but dissecting the tooltip and some internet searches would seem to agree. Also pro tip, if you take the head off a Brood Commander and they're still approaching you, your melee attack is surprisingly useful in not only disrupting the attack they WOULD have done, but also killing them.
I'd love even a Short or any quick rundown on the Gas orbital. I keep trying to use it on bug breaches but I feel like nothing is noticeably damaged by the time they come out.
41:00 This is just one of the reasons why I insist on using the normal HE grenades over the impact grenades (if I'm not using stun grenades).
Hey bro have you ever tried doing your cluster in a line while kitting a hoard? You have to remember to walk away from the splash zone but the impact in a straight line across those chasing you can be devastating when done right.
(Oh and if you throw a support weapon on an enemy and it seems to move, it will still land on the original spot that you intended it to. It moving with an enemy is a visual bug)

this build is so good, i used to run exclusively scorcher for the utility of busting titan balls, since sickle wouldn't provide the same utility, but with the queso cannon that's covered and you can MELT hunters with this
100% agree about primary’s being a total block when you try and get your stuff back

Quasar shots are nowhere as easy to do as railgun shots
@johnthetactician5139 this 100% it also can never 2 tap a bile titan like the railgun has (with ps host)
U are on pS5 talking now. On pc the railgun and qhasar u have to do 3 4 shots
The point is the railgun has lower vulnerability periods than quasar, the lower damage per shot is the tradeoff
Railgun is such a boring gun to use tbh. There’s no boom in it, it’s just boring
How are there so little enemies when you play? I play solo and there are patrols on me every min and 40 hunters zerging me the whole time. Can you change the spawn rate in settings?

Does the wuzzah cannon deal more damage against bile titans than EAT-17? I can't consistently 2-shot them in the head with EAT, but in this video the new toy does it pretty well.
It's way easier aiming the eat vs the quesadilla cannon. I had to get used to the difference and often crouch before shooting
Not being able to control your hellpod when you deploy is so annoying. Some of the time it doesn't even work and actually forces you to land on the terrain features that it's supposed to keep you off of. That feature needs to go. The devs really shouldn't care that people are going to cheese the bugs a little bit, it's not like being able to land on the mountains is going to trivialise the game.
Arrowhead need to stop punishing the playerbase for the sins of the exploiters.

17:10 Every time you throw down an eagle airstrike, cluster, napalm and what not (the carpet bomb ones) they drop the bombs perpendicular to where you threw it, the 500 kg and the rocket pods shoot directly in front of where you dropped it, that is if the rocket pods don't have a target, although they seem like they never have a target because they miss 90% of the time. I really want to love rocket pods, but the inconsistency makes it impossible.
they really should just remove the targetting effect on it, give me control of where and when to make it land, and i'll love eagle-1 all the more for it
I am reporting this Helldiver to the Ministry of Family Values for being too good at soloing and demoralizing 95% of the troops!
the versatility of the croissant cannon in this really underscores how outclassed the current railgun is. you use it for so much and for almost everything, the railgun either would have taken over twice as long or could not have done it (like closing bug holes)
I don't know what it is about the railgun getting powercreeped that has brought out the weirdos to yell "git gud skill issue" at everybody moving on, but killing a shrieker hotel with the railgun isn't skill it's CBT
Quick tip...when collecting supplies for grenades. equip them then pick up and you get a 1 extra nade
I noticed you seem to step on the grey/brown eggs that become smoke…is this a strategy that is somehow useful? It does slow down your pace, so wondering if there’s an advantage…
If you trigger and not step on it, it doesn't slow you down..
I tend to use them to escape situations. A melee will launch you hut it does dmg when you land and can send you in unpredictable directions
And they said that the Shrikers where the only flying bugs.
The nests outside the Egg objectives dont matter for mission completion. Also, Cluster Bombs do not clear nests reliably. they CAN clear nests and factories if one of the bombs lands perfectly inside the hole/vent, but just touching it wont work, so they are super unreliable for it.
Also, I feel like you should ditch the vitality booster for the stamina booster. The tankiness is only being useful for when you get hit, but you're only getting hit because you keep running out of stamina. Also, for the amount of nests you were clearing with your EAT, I feel like it would have been more useful to just run the normal eagle airstrike. It does damage to bile titans as well, just a little less precise, but you were mostly on the move for this match anyway.

The patch notes a few updates ago said that the hellpod steering locking up is a bug that they’ve been having some trouble solving, and not an intentional nerf. I thought you should know.

If people are finding that EAT dual support loadouts with Quasar make sense that is encouraging. I'm still concerned that the new Quasar occupies too much of the "decision triangle" that itself, the EAT, and the recoilless form.

I don’t think the quasar is too powerful - it’s not as universally applicable to all situations as railgun could
quasar isn't good vs bots, railgun is amazing vs bots. that's the trade off atm which makes quasar balanced in a sense
I’d say it’s MORE universally applicable, with it closing bug holes and destroying nests/spewers. But it’s not nearly as fast and easy to kill elites as railgun could, so yeah it’s pretty balanced

i use it to snipe large things from across the map and oneshot hulks with it, using my sickle for everything else. i use the EAT against bugs to also have the grenade launcher for bugs to get rid of bile spewers. the Quasar has no bullet drop which makes it easier to snipe weakspots from 300m+ away with it.
@@OhDough oh so wrong. I use it on Bots even on Helldive to great success. being able to down Hulks with ease means a lot. Devastators arent too big a threat if you're always on the move between cover (also just cluster bomb or airstrike them, maybe peekshot a Rocket Dev need be). Quasar is amazing vs Bots. More so within a group. Perhaps not solo if thats what you were referring towards (which was'nt specified)
Worst take ever. All I've been doing is bot missions with the quasar and it's leaps and bounds better than the rail gun ever was.
I think they should bring back its previous damage model. But to keep it in line,
Give it 10 shots. And get rid of safe/unsafe fire mode for just one fire mode. Just like the arc thrower, for it to fire, you have to fully charge it up. No short charging.
I feel like you could have made more use of he EAT to close things up. But who knows. You did well. Thanks for sharing

Dough, you must know about the grenade glitch, where you can carry 7 of 6 (Engineering kit) or 5 of 4 yes? Unless it’s PS5 only… I didn’t hear you mention it in your vid.

Let me know if it works for PC, basically you need to have less than your max grenades so 5 of 6 then have your grenade (in hand) equipped when you pick up a grenade pack from the ground, violà you’ll have 7 of 6, no need to use it right away either just equip any weapon and it’s still there. I know it’s only one more nade but still 🤷♂️

I’m going to try this with the slugger and gatling turret. Slugger for mid class and gatling for hunters and escaping.
The fall damage of those flying things I get pisses me off only when I shoot them out the sky and they fall on me

90% of the times I watched a streamer/YTer do a helldive mission, they get the same mobs and quantities that I see on hard/extreme. Often they face significantly less than I do on lower difficulties. only about 10% of the time does it look like theres more mobs than in see on lower difficulties. Can somebody explain this?

@@Dannydarko27 it was noted as unintended behavior. they made it so you cant abuse the pod to get crazy high, but they were too heavy handed to the point where if you're near somewhere they dont want you to be able to land, many times you lose control of the pod entirely
Drop the EAT and take a orbital precision strike instead, low cooldown and you can use it to close 2-3 grouped up bug holes instead of wasting grenades like you did at 29:08. Also the precision strike can one shot the rogue research station building instead of having to call in the hellbomb

I wish they would just make it so if you picked up a primary weapon of the same exact type you are currently carrying, it just added the ammo left in that one to the one you have now. No weapon swap at all.
