IMHO a true Sports Car, by historical definition, is an open top car. It’s the true way to enjoy the sensation of a road at speed. Wikipedia having a Miata as main photo says it all.
"If you consider yourself an enthusiast and are itching for a convertible, I say go for it". >> Very enlightened comment that not many have picked up on yet.... Convertibles can really give you more experiences that are awesome and connection to your environment; then when you want isolation you just close the top. If you appreciate good exhaust sound you even get to hear it more! Especially on German cars where you have both (declining unfortunately) options, you'll find that the MSRP is much higher on the convertible and the used values depreciate faster than the coupe. So as far as value you can get more car for the money. Since you know your Porsches try something like a 991.2 cab or a Boxster and try to feel the difference from your coupe. 8:02
The review isn't all that credible when you say this car does 0-60 in 5 seconds. Reality is much closer to 4 seconds and a lot of tests prove this. I suggest folks look at more professional reviews showing what this car is all about. Some folks feel it's a sweet spot for this chassis.
@@TommyLGarage Sorry, but there are NUMEROUS tests showing the actual 0-60 on the M440i convertible. Coupe can actually get just under 4 with care. In the convertible 4.3 (confirmed by hundreds of owners) is more realistic with top up. 4.7 is my best with top DOWN. The M430i, is actually closer to the 5 second mark real world as BMW always underrates power. The M440i is slightly quicker than my AMG C43 (4.5 seconds). Anyone who understands weight/Disp. numbers should know this. Car & Driver also got under 4 seconds with the coupe. The weight difference isn't going to lose a whole second! With 382 HP, if this car was that slow, every engineer would be wondering what's wrong with the car. At the very least, if you lack testing gear, look up the real times on cars. BMW underrates and always has. ua-cam.com/video/mmtljJmFk40/v-deo.html
@@TommyLGarage You clearly don't understand BMW let alone weight and HP dynamics. Everyone knows that the M440i X drive is quicker than what you state (with no test). Car and Driver got under 4 seconds with the coupe. My best time with top up is 4.2 seconds, which makes sense given the weight. BMW always underrates their hP and numbers. They're rather famous for it. This car is slightly quicker than my AMG C43 ragtop, which 4.6 seconds. You can see 4.4 seconds below and that's with the RWD. You cannot get "more car for the money" in this segment because this thing has 4 seats. A Boxter S has two. Z4 gas two, Miata also has two. Kinda different. See real world results and do your homework! Redline got 4.4 seconds and that's the RWD. The X drive is quicker. 13:20 test: ua-cam.com/video/lpKL1CWVsMg/v-deo.html
@@TommyLGarage AND, FYI...Not picking on you. Your test and video is good. But if you can't test a performance number, just look to see what other testers (using proper gear) are getting. There's no reason to quote BMW since they love to see tests beat their "official" numbers, which they've been doing for years. The slower 430i X drive is capable of 5 seconds easily and is a bit better balanced than the M4 and M440i as well. Depends on your roads. Tune a 440i and you're quicker than a M4 with better balance as well. Anyway...nice video otherwise. Real world the M440 Xdrive will be low 4's to 60. And the M4 version will beat BMW's 3.6 seconds and get very close to 3 seconds flat in ideal conditions. These ragtops don't have much competition at these price points if you want 4 seats.
@@robertbrody4032 Hey man I am looking at the M440i, M4, and E53 for legit 4-seater convertibles. The M4 is signifcantly more expensive than the M440i and I was wondering if there was a way to do a bumper swap on the M440 as I really really hate the front bumper.
I would take the z4 over supra all day . Honestly though I am not a coupe or a convertible. M3 all day . Enthusiast car = manual in my opinion . Unfortunately not many choices . If you are in the market for a new sports car. I promise you g80 m3 is the answer with a 6 speed . It is flirting with super cars . I was messing with an m8 the other day .

A boxster S is on the shortlist. Glad you agree. Thanks for the visit!
You can adjust the side bolsters on the seats with lumbar
There was no adjustment for it

Very normal.

Forget the Z4 as the Toyota Supra the BMW hardtop Sport car is the most fun driver out there .
I don’t know. I’d love to have an open roof experience

Kinda crazy anyone would pay 75k for this

Not really a boxster competitor. Its got 4 seats so you can take the kiddos.
But I don’t see a reason of making this car a family car. A convertible should be a selfish two seater in my opinion.
