- Talk about rubber banding in racing games. in this game, Need for Speed Undercover it is through the roof with it. It makes cop chases so much more fun. It don't matter how fast you are, there is always Somebody Faster here.

What I find perplexing is how these average state troopers can handle driving these GTR's at 280mph, and everytime you wreck one it says "COST TO STATE: $4200" Lol

I’ve actually tried out the police GTRs and they’re fast like that stock. The Porsche 911s are definitely rubberbanding but the rest of the cop cars are unbelievably quick
This is funny as hell because its only the cops who rubberband that much
One thing that I always hated as a kid playing MW, even as a 6 year old I was like "How are these puny cop cars reaching 180mph or more just to catchup with me it makes no sense"
Is sad to see game design take the easy route out with these kinds of rubberbanding, fake difficulty like this is bad in all games no matter what
And it's with Crown Victorias of all cars!
Something tells me the cops there are all former street racers.
If they would've eliminated rubberband, the cops would be a pushover, as there wouldn't be any challenge. If you get the fastest car in the game and the cop cars had normal stats, you essentially wouldn't have a cop chase. You'd drive in a straight line for a bit and that was it.
Plus, the rubberbanding is not as common as you might expect. If you use mods to drive cop cars in the AI uses, they are unnaturally fast by default, have insane acceleration, insane top speed, insane grip and very fast to respond to steering. You can often tell when they are actually rubberbanding by the tire marks on the ground. This is when they recieve the boost of speed.
With racer cars on the other hand, rubberbanding is extremly common.
Imagen trying to become a cop in the NFS universe, and on your first day you casually just drive 250 MPH's and when you see the guy pulling away your supervisor just says "watch this" and goes 300 mph instantly.
Also the skills required to drive without crashing at those speeds holy.

Another mildly infuriating thing about cops in nfs undercover is that they at least cared to spawn cop cars outside of your range of view, In this game you can see them materializing out of thin air like it was normal.
To be fair that happened in Most Wanted and Carbon as well.
When I was in a narrow alley and suddenly a policecar appeared behind me out of nothing didn't seem very cool

I think Criterion Games just implemented this crazy rubberbanding stuff in their chase start cutscenes in NFS MW2012. I can't explain how did they come up with it idea otherwise

I’m going to be honest I ngl like nfs undercover which makes sense because it was my first nfs
I think GTR (and state muscle) technically could been this fast if they were allowed to use nitro. Using a save file that has police cars in it shows cop's gtr handles differently Than those racer's. They have lot of grip (but lost lotnof speed in turn) and lot more nitro power.
Same can be said for muscle cruiser. It's acceleration is very brutal when using nitro but has quite limited top speed.
By default only 911 and suv can use nitro.
May i ask you how do get this game to play normally on a modern pc? I had bought the game on origin when it was available but both the origin version and cracked version seem totally unplayable laggy no matter the graphics and resolution. I tried on a windows 10 pc with gtx 980ti i7-6700k and a windows 7 pc with gt710 and a pentium processor that I can’t remember the exact name but no matter what i try, game launches but plays with incredible unplayble lag and unstable fps
Inside of the game there should be video graphical settings that you can configure and reduce lag. Im on a trash labtop and running a graphics mod completely fine on this game. Im not sure how it can be lagging on your end. If there is a reshade folder in your game directory you might want to delete that because its the only thing that caused me lag

need for speed heat would have been better if they get ride of the health car bar. it has the same rubber banding but would have been more perfect going to the times where you wreck havoc with the police.
