I actually bought another RF1200 instead of the 1400 because of that visor lock among some other reasons. Having it off to the side means I don’t have to obstruct my vision to open the visor. It’s also not hard to close, just lightly squeeze down from the top of the visor on the side and it locks into place. ✌️
I do have to say when i stopped and went to see helmets i already knew i was getting the sedici strada, but I was testing out the other helmets and holy shit the shoei liner was so smooth and comfortable. Cant wait to increase my budget and upgrade my gear.

My HJC RPHA 11 has everything the new shoei 1400 has but also comes with a pinlock lens that you can install in either your tinted or clear visor that also comes in the box insted of paying an additional 100$ for another visor like shoei does. Its a great helmet for the price!
I’ve got the xspirit and a Pista rr. I prefer the Shoei system… you don’t need to lock it, just push the visor all the way down with the palm of your hand. Also when wearing the Pista opening the visor with your gloves on you’re always fiddling with the unlock button because it’s kinda concealed.. the RF14 prob has the same issue.
I had an x12, then moved to the rf1200. Loved em both, but the 1200 is a better helmet. No plans to replace it, but I have changed out the interior padding all around. The rf1400 looks like a nice piece of kit, but I don't need it, and my wallet agrees! 😅
They do need to update the liner… I tried on an Arai Corsair X AFTER I bought my RF-1400, if I had tried it on before I bought my SHOEI, I wouldn’t have bought the SHOEI, the Arai is just so much more comfortable!
I just bought Scorpion Exo R1 (the non carbon) and so far it’s wayyyyy better than my old AGV K3 SV. It’s lighter, quieter, more visibility out of the visor, and more comfortable
i have X11 and X14, they both feel some similar inside except the X14 is lighter these days... Goin to try the Carbon Helmets from the European brands soon, Shark, AGV, Nolan
The reason they’ve been using the liner since they started is because it’s been the leading helmet for wind canceling, why change something that’s already doing so perfect in the market.
Need to mention it has insane vision looking up which is only really useful at track. Terrible if your using it as a commuter helmet and need to block the sun shining into your eyes
I have a GT AIR, and I really fed up with the visor and fog insert. I have tried 3 different visor with 3 different fog insert, the pins are in the tightest position and still fogging. Why the hell they cannot do it properly on an expensive helmet? I will never buy anymore Shoei.

I wonder about the CO2 that stays in the Helmet. FortNine did a really great video measuring CO2 levels in helmets and how dangerous it can be. I really wonder how the CO2 levels are if you wear this helmet for like an hour.

Have a whistle from the visor on my dual sport on road and wind noise seems to be louder than my previous 200 dollar sena and could stand a better beating as far as scratches go. Boy I cried when I dropped today on gravel. Chipped the damn paint in three spots🤢guess I'll have 2 request from arai when I call maybe some touch-up paint pen. but it as been amazing with tinted shield and ventilation is top knotch and lightweight can say I'm proud of this purchase.
