Damn. So my attempts to save her pushed her down the dark path? That's heart breaking. I haven't gotten too far past that point, so no clue if I'll ever get another chance to help her escape from Shar's clutches, but I definitely hate seeing Shadowheart trying to justify what happens after she kills Nightsong in my run.

This moment gets so much better on a replay and it was already fucking amazing. Why? Because every single word Dame Aylin says here is true. She’s not even begging for her life. She genuinely doesn’t want Shadowheart to go through with what she does here because like you, she knows the truth about who Shadowheart really was.
I had a cool nat 20 on this moment no joke. I had basically chosen every respectful of her belief option I could have up until this moment too so role play wise I felt like that famous Last Airbender scene with Iroh and Zuko. Iroh had always been respectful of his nephew's hunt for the good guy, but when he saw him reach such a self destructive moment he stepped in. So my guy literally has a moment of, "I've respected your choices, but you have to think about what do YOU want!" Made the 20 feel so good, even if I know from others that she can make the choice herself too.
I used 4 inspirations on the 30 DC roll only for the game to immediately give me the dc 20 roll after... first time i savescummed and she ended up sparing her with no roll anyway.
The voice acting in this game is amazing almost without exception but I really got to hand it to whoever voiced The Nightsong/Dame Aylin. Stunning work! The conviction of her delivery gives me chills as much as the music in this scene.

I think a lot of it can depend on previous choices but this is correct. I left it to her and then just stayed silent while they spoke and she still turned. I found that much more impactful than the roll as well.
Thinking on this it's so sad to consider what probably happened with viconia in the time span between baldur's gate 2 and 3. She managed to escape servitude to one evil goddess only to find herself manipulated by another.... Trying to find a better path only to discover...loss.
Viconia is a cleric of Shar when you first encounter her in BG1, after being abused by those farmboys in the shed, Lolth didn't answer her prayers, but Shar did
I do not know anything about DnD. So to me going in this game everything seemed dire and bleak with all the odds stacked against me. Until this scene. I felt like i withnessed hope. Literally gasped as i saw the angle. Ive made a separate save file just to witness this agian. Absolutely beautiful moment through and through. Gave me goosebumps everytime the music came on.

So I just finished this moment but I let her choose for herself. The goosebumps and chills I got when she decided to throw it off the cliff herself and then seeing the aasimar power up and take flight. One of the best moments I've had in a game

I finished the fight right before talking to nightsong, then shadowheart was at my camp all of a sudden, and i couldn't get her back there. I started dialogue with nightsong and Shadowheart was back talking with her. I also passed the persuasion check, spared nightsong. Shadowheart was at the camp again. I go back to the camp to get her back, she starts a dialogue, and tells me i ruined her life and leaves the party. Wtf... haha
When you see her fully transformed and then you realize that Ketheric sent an undead male version to capture his daughter which the Nightsong loved. That dude was an srse
Not always. In my first playthrough I was romancing her and had very high approval, I stayed out of it and she killed her anyway. In my second playthrough I was playing Dark Urge, killed the druids and was an overall menace to society. I don't know what the approval was since I wasn't using her much and did not romance her. Anyway, there I let her choose freely and she spared nightsong. Dame Aylin then stayed in camp until the end of the game, it was a bit immersion breaking but made of an epic fight against Ketheric under the tower. An avatar of Selune and a spawn of Baahl fighting against Myrkul. While all other party members were down or dead

It's quite telling how after this scene Shadowheart tells us Shar seems... strangely silent. As in "SO damn pissed out about my new chosen sparing and releasing my accursed niece, that I'm beyond 😡😡😡."
Shadowheart actually left my party after this because I couldn't use her properly so I didn't bring her to the gauntlet and I freed the Nightsong without her.

So she makes the right choice on her own if you say nothing and your relationship is high enough, but there was NO supporting evidence that showed she was having a change of heart before this. It was always "SHAR SHAR SHAR!"
Killed Balthazar yesterday, but Shadowheart died, so I missed out on the dialogue for this! The game still jumped to the same conclusion as this ending. Not sure if it’s because of high relationship or what, but I’m glad it worked out with an ending I like.
Oops, we ended up in a disagreement and I ended up pushing her into the endless abyss after threatening me. 😅 Totally worth it. But the game treated it as if she was still alive and chose to save the night song with the companion dialogue.
You get 2 different weapons, your romance with her would go far more smoothly, and you get additional interaction/information relating to Shadowheart throughout the game, because Nightsong was left alive, a boss fight will also be easier.
I got the full opposite of this where she runs her through and goes full religious Zealot. Absolutely HATED her for doing this and it made my stomach turn. The only saving grace was after we went outside, I spawned back to last light in which was now fully of shadow spawn. I got promptly nuked as I was weak from previous battle. The last save I had was during Shadowhearts dialogue with Nightsong, so I didn't feel "too" guilty about save scumming :). I didn't mind as to be honest she goes full sith with the other outcome and it didnt sit right with me. My god what a game
Somehow i got an easier doce roll. First i said "please, dont do this" it felt right for my character it felt like it wasnt to agressive. She brisked and sounded more determined, so I replied saying i cant loose her and to do as she wishes. When it came up for me to say something again i choose the new persuade option and the roll was around 20 from i remember. Wonder what i did to make it easier.
I didnt spec into Charisma, being a Ranger. I lost count the amount of save scumming I did to talk her out of it. Hoping and praying for a crit roll. But it was worth

And another where I start all over from the beginning of the dungeon which took at least 2+ hours along with three bosses I have to kill again. Should I move on and let mol n the kids die or should I free her after I do the tower

she is thrilled with me so basically the most amount of approvel i can get yet i can't even convince her cuz my char don't have persuasion skill so i can atmost get a +8 so a 28 even when i roll a perfect 20.. that feels kinda bs. when she constantly says shit like, she didn't know what it felt like to smile or have butterflies in the stomach before she met me.. having to roll a 30 seems extremely excessive. shouldn't it decrease the amount needed depending on your relationship.. meanwhile even tho i dont have that good relations with Lae'Zel i got her to turn on Vlaakith mega ez..
@@adamkaminski6095 i had reloaded prob 10 times with 4 banked inspiration and never landed a natural 20 xD so got enough and searched on youtube, found this vid and a comment telling u could go the other dialogue path xD but yeah wasn't sure that that was how it worked, guess i'm just not lucky enough for it to have been noticable for me
it's kinda horseshit that the good ending is entirely dependent on this very difficult dice roll. i find this game goes out of it's way to punish you for not doing a charisma build.

What is the reward from going against shar? Do you get a different quest / reward route?

My Shadowheart got shoved over the edge then left me forever when i rescued nightsong...
