Honestly, sounds like work. There’s another content creator who just hit two years and did an “ask me questions” post. One question was “If you could change anything about 40k, what would it be?” He said, “Get rid of Command Points.” . I’m with him.
It is a lot of work. I played the tournament on Sunday and improved a lot since I focused on Secondaries. I noticed the best players were quite a bit ahead of the pack on points, and they were the only ones using lots of their stratagems. Removing command points and reducing the 'got'cha' effect of so many stratagems would be a good move I think.
When they first introduced Power levels for units I wasn’t a fan. Now, I love the it. I’m just not into agonizing over 5pts for a Power Sword on the sergeant. Give me open play mode, power level and narrative objectives rather than secondaries. If you can talk any of your mates into it, try lower point level games, or even Boarding Actions games with alternating activations, a’la Kill Team or One Page Rules.
I was watching a game of AoS at the FLGS i saw an interesting trick one of the players used. He had little 3x5 cards folded in half so they would stand up like little tents. On the front of the card he had the name of the unit, but on the back, facing him, he had little notes concerning the main features of the unit. Like buffs, which stratagems applied, WS, BS, etc. So it was faster and easier to remember that a given unit got a buff if it was within x” of the leader.
That's a nice idea. I've been reading through the AoS rules ready for a game tomorrow and the rules look pretty good. Certainly nowhere near as many things to keep in mind like in 40k and the limited commands are brilliant. Can't wait to give it a proper go!

Don’t do it, don’t touch 40k matched play, I hear nothing but unbalanced nightmares and chased costs. Hehe
